The claim in these lawsuits that Narconon is a front organisation controlled by and recruiting for Scientology is of particular interest. It would be really good to see that proven in court, and would make a difference to Narconon's fortunes worldwide. Although given that's the case, they'll probably settle.

5 More Lawsuits Filed Against Narconon Arrowhead Rehab Facility

By Tess Maune, News On 6

Excerpt:

In the suit filed by former student Sue Ann Newman and her sister, Dena Shobe, they claim Narconon offered them a no-interest loan to pay the $15,000 tuition. Two months after Newman was admitted to the facility, they allegedly told her that deal was never approved. Shobe then claims to have received credit cards in the mail, she claims were applied for in her name by Narconon, without her permission. The cards, with an interest rate of 23 percent, had $14,500 charged to them; the exact amount Narconon had billed her for her sister's treatment, the suit says.

Five more lawsuits filed against Narconon Arrowhead

Five lawsuits filed Thursday allege that an Oklahoma drug rehabilitation facility engaged in false representation, fraud and deceit in its dealing with patients.

Narconon Arrowhead's program "has the appearance of being nothing more than a pyramid scheme and sham" that operates to extort money while acting as a recruiting tool for the Church of Scientology, according to one of the lawsuits filed Thursday in Pittsburg County District Court.

The other four lawsuits, brought by former Narconon patients or their family members, make similar claims.

Other still-pending lawsuits were previously filed in connection with deaths at the facility.

Gabriel Graves, 32, of Claremore died Oct. 26, 2011; Hillary Holten, 21, of Carrollton, Texas, died April 11, 2012; and Stacy Murphy, 20, of Owasso died July 19, 2012.

"Narconon Arrowhead officials contend their mission “has always been to help people overcome addiction and prevent kids from becoming addicts ... and the lawsuits are “financially motivated and have no foundation of truth ...” according to a statement issued by the facility Thursday."

Financially motivated and have no foundation of truth he says. That was a freudian slip, he was talking about NN and Scientology.

5 new suits filed against Narconon Arrowhead; plaintiffs claim breach of contract, fraud

Last Updated: 4 minutes ago

MCALESTER, Okla. - Five new lawsuits were filed Thursday against the embattled drug and alcohol treatment facility in Pittsburg County. Narconon Arrowhead's international and state chapters were also named in the suit.

Court documents show the plaintiffs -- only two of whom are in the state of Oklahoma, according to attorney Gary Richardson -- are claiming fraud, false representation, breach of contract, non-disclosure and civil conspiracy.

Plaintiffs say they ended up paying thousands of dollars for treatment for family members -- treatment that was never received -- and in fact, Narconon representatives fraudulently claimed they could provide "a medically appropriate facility for the treatment of drug and alcohol addictions, including counseling, licensed therapists..."
However, they say they later learned there were no doctors on staff and most of the counselors were former addicts with no qualifications.

The suits allege the program is nothing more than a scheme to finance and recruit for the Church of Scientology.

Lawsuits allege Narconon Arrowhead counselors traded sex for drugs

McALESTER — Narconon Arrowhead counselors allegedly traded drugs for sex and fraudulently charged a patients credit card some $14,500 according to allegations found in five lawsuits filed Thursday against the facility. The lawsuits were filed Thursday in Pittsburg County District Court.

Also among the allegations the suits say Narconon influenced a grandmother to take out a $7,000 loan to “save her grandson’s life” and Narconon charged some $14,500 to a credit card obtained without the cardholders knowledge.

Narconon Arrowhead officials contend their mission “has always been to help people overcome addiction and prevent kids from becoming addicts ... and the lawsuits are “financially motivated and have no foundation of truth ...”

Narconon Arrowhead is a non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Canadian affiliated with the Church of Scientology that has been under investigation after several Narconon patients were found dead at the facility within a year. A fourth patient died while at the hospital. The deaths also spurred legislation to regulate facilities such as Narconon Arrowhead.

In February Senate Bill 295 was passed unopposed and is now set to go before the House Public Health committee this month before going for a House vote, according to co-author of the bill State Representative Jason Murphey (R-Guthrie).

“The purview is to give the department of mental health oversight of drug rehab facilities specifically due to concerns which began last summer at Narconon.” Murphey said. “I think (the bill) will do fine in the House.”

There, I fixed it:

Narconon Arrowhead officials contend their mission is "financially motivated and have no foundation of truth..." and that the lawsuits "have always been to help people overcome addiction and prevent kids from becoming Scientologists...." according to a statement issued by the facility.

Thank you to the brave Narconon victims named below and in their lawsuits. Thank you so very much. This will encourage many others to speak out, to take a stand. Hopefully more exs will try to help in exposing the crimes of this dangerous Scientology front group :

SCIENTOLOGY DRUG REHAB CENTER HIT WITH FIVE MORE LAWSUITS

The lawsuits…

Mary Cantu is suing for fraud after paying $13,000 to Narconon for her son to attend in July 2011, but then he left in a panic just two weeks later after feeling his safety was endangered.

Lisa Gray is suing after putting her son in the facility in May 2011 and then removing him in July. Like Cantu, she says Narconon is a fraudulent program that doesn’t deliver what it promises.

Gina Nelsen is suing after paying $25,000 for her son’s treatment in October 2012. When she raised questions about the untruths she’d been told about the program, she alleges that her son was kicked out of the facility, “Thereafter, the Defendants transported Plaintiff’s son to the Salvation Army in Tulsa, Oklahoma, more than a hundred miles away, with only the clothes on his back, where he stayed until he was able to take a bus and secure some clothing, that was donated by local churches and friends.”

Sue Ann Newman and Dena Shobe are suing after Sue Ann was admitted as a patient at Narconon in May 2012 on false promises that she and her sister, Dena Shobe, could get a special low price through a work program. Instead, “Defendants fraudulently, and without Plaintiffs’ knowledge or permission, applied for a Discovery Card and a Visa Card, in the name of Plaintiff, SHOBE. Thereafter, Defendants fraudulently billed to Plaintiff’s Discovery credit car $7,000 and billed $7,500 to Plaintiff’s Visa credit card, again, all without the knowledge and/or permission of the Plaintiffs.”

Vicki White is suing because she says fraudulent means were used to enroll her son in Narconon and keep him there, despite her attempts to get him out because of concerns that his medical needs weren’t being addressed. Like the others, she is alleging that Narconon’s business practices are simply a form of fraud.

Richardson is also handling the wrongful death lawsuits for families in the deaths of three Narconon patients: Gabriel Graves, 32, who died in October 2011, Hillary Holten, 21, in April 2012, and Stacy Dawn Murphy, 20, in July 2012. County and state investigators are also reportedly looking into the 2009 death of Kaysie Dianne Werninck, 28.

We’ll add to this story as we get more detail. For now, here are the lawsuits… ( click to read them... )

As Gary Richardson stated, it's just the tip of the iceberg. I believe there is much more coming from his camp in the future, and he's certainly not the only attorney who is working on bringing justice to Narconon via the civil courts since the criminal courts and government institutions continue to drag their feet or look the other way.
