New Here... Ex Mormon Doing Research

I'm new here, an ex-mormon doing research into the workings of organization like this. Although never in scientology myself, I had many of my LDS (mormon) business friends who followed Scientology business practices. There seems to be much in common between how the two organizations' leadership and organization runs and I'm writing a research paper on this.

Reading through some from ex-members who have left makes my heart ache. My experience and present experience is similar. It's rough/impossible to leave.

Anyways, I have no idea how this message board works but wanted to introduce myself. I hope there's room for a weirdo like me.

Sincerely,

J VanBuskirk

Hi JVB and welcome to ESMB. I noticed your post and the fact that no one had replied in over an hour, so I logged-in specially to welcome you - ain't that nice of me?

Don't worry, there are plenty of weirdos here, so you're among friends. I hope you enjoy your stay.

It looks like this subject is running on another thread:

http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthre...cutive-Structure&p=96885&viewfull=1#post96885

If this is pertaining to your query then maybe it would be better to merge the threads. Here are some more links that tend to be oriented toward administrative docs.

The one salient distinction that may exist between Mormon and Scientology organization is that LRH maintained full control of the organization on a hidden command structure. I expect the last time he operated the organization to any open extent was before he went onto the ships circa 1968. After the FBI raids in 1977 records were meticulously vetted to remove any signature or reference to his operational control. To understand the actual management structure I suggest that you start with this link but also keep in mind that this organization was not intended to be easily understood, especially by the IRS:

'Nother :welcome: Hope ya find what you are seeking, there are, I believe, others here who have been through the Mormon thing in the past, I see some links have been posted already. You mentioned in the chatroom inability to access messages, you'll need to make some posts on the forums to free that up :)
What are you trying to research? What aspects?

Welcome! I'm a Double Ex....ex-Mormon and ex-Scn both. Born into one, fell into the other. Thankfully now done with all of it.

The thing about Scn is that they are constantly creating new front groups in the famous bait-and-switch strategy. Somewhere there is a list of all of them, but they're constantly adding to it. WISE is probably the most active, weaseling its way into numerous businesses.

They hope to show unsuspecting business people how great Hubbard's "management tech" is, so maybe they'll fall into the Scn trap too. Thing is, the management tech mostly sucks. What little of it works is simple common sense, which has nothing to do with Scn.

Welcome Jvan

You might want to look into Heber Jentsch (spelling?) who I believe was a Mormon and has been the president of the CofS. Also Karen de Lacarriere, aka Karen#1 here who posts here and was Heber's wife for a long time. I have no facts, just speculation on my part that Heber, may have exported some of the scientology business methods to some of his Mormon friends.

Yay for $cientology Management Tekh!! :cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader::cheerleader:

It does the Church(es) more damage than we ever could! If good management ever got put in, $cn might actually become a real threat again.

Good luck with the research paper. I don't know much about Mormonism other than the Tabernacle Choir and that dreadful TV series, 'Big Love,' which even I couldn't watch after a few episodes. Although the SLC library is supposed to be one of the best for genealogy.

I'd be really interested to read your paper when you are done about the parallels of the leadership, but suspect a common theme about what is being said contrasted with what is being done...
