New Idea dishing the dirt

New Idea is a mainstream women's magazine in Australia. Today the cover had a pic of TC scowling and the caption "Why Tom Cruise must leave Scientology". I couldn't resist and parked myself in the magazine section of the supermarket and read it.

Inside was a full page picture of Tom looking furious.

The article started with the announcement that there were many allegations of abuse against David Miscavige, and that Tom was close friends with DM and a staunch supporter of the CoS.

Next was a blurb about Amy's book and some allegations of beatings she had witnessed. Then Rinder's allegations of beatings.

Then an accurate sounding description of the hole, and how people were kept prisoner, had to sleep under their desks, how after weeks or months they may be allowed to do some outside work which consisted of cleaning up a huge pile of garbage, maggots and all with their bare hands.

All in all, a great job by New Idea. They've gotton past Suri Cruises wardrobe appetizer and into the main course. This is big for the sort of magazine it is. It will reach a whole new strata of public.

Oh goody! We get that mag here and I'm gonna stop of at the supermarket magazine section tomorrow to have a squiz. Readers will scarcely be able to believe such things can happen. They will be shocked to their core.

Someone posted some scans on WWP:

HeyHey said:
Recent issue of New Idea (Australian women's gossip mag) reckons TC need to leave the church of scientology. Hmmm. The truth they say.

I like it.

This is the downside of recruiting celebrities. Whenever the slightest thing goes wrong, everyone gets to know.

Celebrities are Scientology's greatest strength, and their greatest weakness.

This is a good one.

I think this is how it should be done.

I love the matching photos of TC and Miscabbage. :D

Yeah photos like that make it impossible for Tom Cruise to avoid question regarding Miscavige when he does an interview. He's not much use to a movie studio if he can't get out into the public to build up interest in the movies he stars in, and it's pretty safe to say questions about the cult will be asked during any interview he gives.

It's getting to the point where the cult is becoming a liability to Tom Cruise and Tom Cruise is becoming a liability to the cult.

I think it would be a great thing if Cruise came out of the Church. I have a hard time imagining it happening, but it would be very good news for his career, for him, personally, and for a reduction in their Hollywood influence.

NICE!!!!! Now THAT's freedom of speech! I can't wait to see how OSA tries to handle that! It would be fun to tack the front cover up on a telephone pole or something right outside an Org. This is MUCh better than an ANON sign -- or maybe it should BE an Anon sign! YAY!

Oh Yipee !

This is wonderful news, - Let's hope it blows across the ocean, and puts a bit of puff into the cajones of mag publishers here in the US . . .

Yes. Hopefully the source will ask other publications if they'd like an interview, too. The USA needs this kind of information on a large scale. I am very happy that this is now the basic knowledge that the public has!

To me, the beauty of an article like this is that "raw public" reads it before the cult can get it's claw into them.

This kind of exposure costs the cult untold MILLIONS of dollars in future income.

It is very a very effective thing to cut off potential income.

Next perhaps will be exposure of child molestations, violation of childrens rights, lack of education or supervision of children. The stalking by PIs and the invasion of privacy by PIs in the employ of a church ( ain't THAT weird!)

The vunerable legal things are what can be living long term nighmares for the cult.

There is a limit to how many fronts the cult can defend at the same time - particularly as public and SO are fleeing faster than rats off a sinking ship !
