Either that or the HGB's taking in renters to help keep them going financially. :D

Who knows? The address is "Suite 200." That used to be an ITO floor, holding the outer-org trainees courserooms (OEC, FEBC, Special Courses), didn't it?

EDIT: I take it back. Looking at a photo, that was the third floor. The second floor always seemed to be missing (like Hubbard's second wife). I believe it is accessible round the back of the LRH Life Exhibition somewhere, not through the main staircase or elevators.

This is like the twilight zone. If I spend any more time on this board, I'm going to turn into a conspiracy theorist myself! :D

Time for me to go read a book!

On a serious note, don't know who da guy is, why doesn't somebody call him and ask for a free consultation, and find out? Some of you Ex OSA types are good at that lying tech... no offense, a skill is a skill! Maybe he is just a renter, but I doubt it!

Looks like Michael B. Hannon was a Pinky Commie Red and kicked off the police in 1965 but was reinstated after 6 months

Subversive influences in riots, looting, and burning. Hearings, Ninetieth Congress, first [-second] session

HEARINGS BEFORE THE COMMITTEE ON UN-AMERICAN ACTIVITIES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Riots; Breach of the peace; Subversive activities

Now, a representative of the Committee To End the War in Viet-
nam contacted Michael Hannon of the Socialist Party in Los Angles
and made arrangements for a meeting to be held at the Socialist Party
Hall at 837 South Park View, Los Angeles, on the night of August
13, 1965. This was the third day of the riots. All present, as far as
has been determined, were members of the Committee To End the
War in Vietnam.

As a result of this meeting, the Committee to Support Grievances
of Watts Negroes was formed.

It was determined or decided at this meeting that a demonstration
in front of the police administration building would begin at mid-
night that night, August 13. The demonstration did occur and lasted
from midnight until 2:30 a.m. It ended August 14 at 2:30 a.m. The
theme of the demonstration was police brutality.

{snip}
Mr. Smith. You mentioned Michael Hannon.

Can he be further identified ?

Mr. Wheeler. Yes.

I refer to Michael Boyd Hannon, who was born October 21, 1936.
He was a Los Angeles police officer. He was found guilty of charges
brought against him for conduct unbecoming a police officer. After
a hearing, he was dismissed from the police department. This sen-
tence was reduced by Chief of Police William Parker to 6 months'
suspension.

Hannon became increasingly active in the civil rights demonstra-
tions and anti-U.S. Government demonstrations and on one particular
demonstration held at the Los Angeles Federal Building on May 8,
1965, he carried a sign protesting United States policy in the Domini-
can Republic. The sign read "WHAT KHRUSHCHEV DID TO
HUNGARY JOHNSON IS DOING TO THE DOMINICAN RE-
PUBLIC AMERICAN SOCIALIST PARTY."

I have a photograph of Michael Hannon carrying the sign if you
desire it for the record.

Mr. Smith. Mr. Chairman, I request that the photograph be ac-
cepted and marked as "Wheeler Exhibit No. 2."

The Chairman. It will be accepted and marked accordingly.

(Photograph marked "Wheeler Exhibit No. 2" appears on page
1201.)

Mr. Smith. Continue, please.

Mr. Wheeler. Michael Hannon is no longer with the police de-
partment.

Mr. Smith. Did he make any speeches anywhere else?

Mr. Wheeler. Yes. He has given speeches throughout the country.
I can refer to one specific example which was reported in the Daily
Bruin, September 29, 1965.

Now, the committee files reflect speeches in other localities and also
other recorded activities that are similar to the photograph that was
presented as Exhibit 2.

Mr. Smith. Mr. Chairman, I request that this exhibit be accepted
and marked "Wheeler Exhibit No. 3."

The Chairman. It will be accepted and so marlced.

(Document marked "Wheeler Exhibit No. 3" and retained in com-
mittee files.)

Mr. Wheeler. I will read a little out of it. He was quoted :"'...
we talked about being an occupation army in a foreign country . . .'
This is the description of police behavior in the Watts area as de-
scribed by Michael Hannon" — this type of statement charging the
police department as being an occupational army and similar state-
ments, throughout the country.

Mr. Smith. What is Hannon's present occupation?

Wheeler Exhibit No. 2

Mr. Wheeler. The Los Angeles Herald-Examiner of June 4, 1966,
reports Hannon's resignation from the police department. He passed
the California State Bar examination and he is now a practicing at-
torney in Los Angeles.

Mr. Smith. Mr, Chairman, I request that this exhibit be received
and marked "Wheeler Exhibit No. 4."

The Chairman. It may be so received and marked accordingly.

(Document marked "Wheeler Exhibit No. 4" and retained in com-
mittee files.)

Mr. Smith. You mentioned that Michael Hannon was a member
of the Socialist Party. You are not referring to the Socialist Workers
Party, are you ?

Mr. Wheeler. No, sir ; I am referring to the Socialist Party headed
by Norman Thomas of the U.S. It has not been declared a subversive
organization.

Mr. Smith. Do you have any exhibit to submit in connection with
that?

Mr. Wheeler. Yes; I have an exhibit of the Los Angeles Herald-
Examiner of May 8, 1966, which states that he is the Los Angeles
chairman of the Socialist Party.

There were a lot of reports about him in the LA Times at the time
They are available on Google news archive but are pay per view

Mike Hannon, my attorney (pictured many years later) represented me while I worked for Open City when I had been arrested in a commune. The charges were dropped. Later in about 1971 he was my attorney during my conflict with the Department of Defense and the F.B.I. during the Viet Nam war period. Bill Smith was the top "draft attorney" and Michael Hannon was number 2. He had been a police officer with the L.A.P.D. and later ran for Councilman in Los Angeles. It was my letter from my psychiatrist which got me a 4F. Hannon's advice was that I would probably survive being in Viet Nam longer than I would in prison. Thanks a lot.

He co-founded the Peace and Freedom Party and ran for District Attorney in LA in 1968 on a platform of legalising drugs and buttsecks but was defeated

so to sum-up
Socialist
Defended blacks
Wanted to decriminalise homosexuality
Wanted to decriminalise the use of Marijuana
I don't think L Ron would have approved

He's probably replacing Moxon, who is down in FL in the Federal Bankruptcy of Peter Letterese / Peter Letterese and Assciates, Inc and Creative Desperation, Inc. The trustee is trying to throw out the CoS and Bridge claims against Peter's company bankruptcy, so Moxon was entered recently as council last week.
The trustee's doc is here

District Attorney Younger Takes Hits From the 'Maverick Mayor'

"The 1968 primary took place on June 4. In Los Angeles County, Younger was reelected as district attorney—to no one’s surprise; he had only token opposition from one Michael B. Hannon, an ex police-officer who had been in practice for just under two years. The major focus that day was on California’s Democratic presidential primary, won by U.S.Sen. Robert F. Kennedy of New York. Shortly after midnight, RFK was shot with apistol at the Ambassador Hotel by Sirhan Sirhan. He died later that day."

Are you sure that's not because you Brits number them funny?

Not a bad question at all. But no. It's a 12-story building. Look at a photograph and count them. Start at the top. The one with the most open blinds is the 6th floor, the dining area (unless they moved it). The 2nd floor is the upper part of the LRH Exhibition area.

I could be completely wrong about this. Doing some online research, ITO shows up as "Suite 201." But there still seems to be a missing floor somewhere.

EDIT: Well, maybe not. I think it's that the ground-level floor, the one housing the lobby and the LRH Life Exhibition, is higher than the other floors. Walking up the main staircase every day, for years, one notices the extra flight of stairs. Plus looking at the photograph, the second floor windows are different to the rest of the building. Excuses, excuses. . . .

I have a question...about the Sea Org building directly across from HGB.

What goes on behind the large windowed upper floor on the corner?
Is it for meetings? Dining? Showing off to non-SeaOrg?
