Hello,

Have a family member in. Before the Leah series, I had NO idea how messed up this was. I am truly sorry for what this has done to so many, wow, I am really hoping that this series makes a difference. The HBO series, had a more limited audience, and you have to pay for it.....

WOW, again, am so sorry to read about the pain and suffering!

Thank-you and...

:welcome2:

Yes, this "thing" (as Leah referred to it) IS messed up.

I was in for 10 years myself and damaged some familial relationships by applying their standard policies on how to deal with criticism, but grateful I had the chance to repair it when I eventually got out.

Don't give enough personal details for the Co$ to identify you. They do try and it could negatively impact the relationship with your family if CoS finds out who you are. And it's not so difficult for them to ID people these days as there's probably less than 20,000 active scientologists on the entire planet.

Thank you for the advice!

Leah's series, the subsequent purchase of the HBO documentary and the vast amount of reading on this has really blown my mind, and puts a new slant on why the family member did what they did to the family.

The initiation tactics are certainly compelling, and it is very easy to see how one could get sucked in, in particular the children...no means, education, family or friends if you decide to go, I am truly amazed at all of your escape stories!

I really just thought is was your standard money sucking religion, and had no idea of the abuse and intimidation done by them ...WOW!

Welcome!

Yes getting the truth out about what really happens has been the work of brave souls for decades.
I remember a family member saying to me some years ago "there is no such thing as disconnection" with absolute certainty, despite the evidence. As more mainstream media covers this, there are less places for the lies to hide.

Scientology may not be worthy of study for the things it promises but it is worthy of study as a complicated and sophisticated system of manipulating people and avoiding legal consequences. However, in spite of all this cleverness it has still diligently created it's own inevitable demise.

Fascinating...

Google Time2prtee, hey I am out there!

Many old-timers here are loath to search or click through links from newbies. There's been a long history to Scientology dirty tricks perpetrated on the unwary.

Can you just tell us what's up without a search?

You're probably thinking i'm crazy, but .............. :omg:

Welcome to the board, thanks for joining.

No problem.

I have been posting on message boards for a long time with this moniker. Actually have owned it for a very long time. I am interested in animal welfare, and administrate a message board myself on another subject.

As I stated, I have a family member in, and have met Scientologists, but never got the hard recruitment, unless you count the the delivery of DVDs and Books, paid for by said family member. (In the trash my friends!).

That person chose SCN and left their family. They can communicate outside, but none of us were never "in", so not disconnected. A few took a look, but that person's journey (and SCN's current ownership of all of that person's money) has created a cult of skeptics in our family LOL!

The Church of Scientology has been alleged to kill peoples pets as part of their Fair Game campaigns. Here are some stories about that:
http://www.humanslovinganimals.com/scientology-recurring-stories-pets-killed/

Also, they attacked an animal sanctuary in Seattle, trying to shut it down because it was run by Robert Vaughn Young, a former national spokesman of the CoS. That story is here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.pets.cats.rescue/K2PhQN6K4UA

Robert characterizes the CoS in that post as a "mafia-like" organization. But I believe that some crime families within the mafia are more ethical than CoS and would be upset to be compared with Scientology.

OH well, some other family members have posted on Facebook regarding the Leah Remini series...So I am pretty sure I will be identified. Sad for the family member in, but they made their choice as a wealthy adult, and now no family, no money, no pension, but the coronary bypass was covered!

Very weird, I do still have the emails from years ago, always wondered why they were generic $CN email, not specific to them!
