An article in Home Town Focus (Serving Northern Minnesota) reports that members of the Northeastern Law Enforcement Administrators Council (NLEAC) received training from Foundation for a Drug Free World. The presentation was made by Jim Brewer, former basketball player at the University of Minnesota, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, and the 1972 US Olympic Basketball team.

The article does not mention that Brewer is a Scientologist, as described in this article on the Scientology web site,[1] or that Foundation for a Drug Free World is a part of the Church of Scientology.

The session was organized by the Chief of Police of Babbit, MN, Chad Lowen.

This is not Lowen’s first encounter with Scientology. This photo from the police department’s website shows Lowen receiving a “Drug Free Hero” award from Scientology in Washington, DC. The gentleman in the center is U.S. Congressman Rick Nolan of Minnesota, presenting the award. The woman on the right is Erika Christensen, a Scientologist, actress and one of the stars of the TV show “Parenthood.”
