Sorry to post so late on this. ITYIWT gave me the news.
I loved Jana and considered her a friend. Now, as a spirit, she will always be my friend. I will miss her terribly.
I believe she made it to one last get-together with ex-scn friends in the last few months, so she was tying up loose ends, I guess, and seeing everyone she could while she could. Jana was preparing. She knew. Jana was one of those rare people who actually achieved an age of wisdom and maturity with a heart filled with love... a state we all hope to attain whether we have the same beliefs or not.
She was so sharp, so funny, so LOVED.
Godspeed, Jana, get to wherever your happy place is with your friends and enjoy yourself.

I was a bit choked up writing it, so it's a bit choppy, but it's from the heart.Yup. I knew her at AOLA. She was an auditor there for a while. She was a favorite, too, always booked up, always requested. This was back when AOLA had lots of NSO auditors.
I knew her when I was SSO AOLA. She and a couple of other NSO Class VIs and Class VIIIs got together and decided to audit the AOLA staff as volunteers and I scheduled them. It went on for some six months or so until Val Lisa became C/O AOLA for a while and put a stop to it. Jana always had a heart of gold.
I knew her again when I was Dir I&R AOLA. She and a few of the more seasoned auditors would come in to chat with me about someone's clearances for OT levels. I loved when they did that. We worked together well so the pre-OTs weren't harassed or terrified.
I knew her again when I was off the Dir I&R post (due to childbirth) then put on as Deputy D of P for Interviews in the HGC, where she audited as an NSO auditor. Saw her all the time, then!
The GOOD auditors, knew how to use the D of P for interviews! 
She was an amazing counselor. When AOLA went through changes and I was gone, she stood up for one of her pc's, David Voorhees. She would refuse C/S instructions if she didn't agree, stood up to management... whatever it took to do the right thing. She was awesome. All she ever wanted to do was put smiles on others' faces.
She was one of a kind, alright. Someone I never forgot, someone others would never forget either.
Everywhere she went, she made the world around her a lovely place.

Here is her thread about David Voorhees. She really took a risk, you know, of being declared, losing her certs and livelihood. I believe every word she wrote is true, because things got real, real weird when Val Lisa became C/O AOLA and put Gary Jacobs in as MAA AOLA.
Val Lisa was exGO (headed the hideous B1 Bureau of the USGO for many, many years) and Gary was also exGO.

As close I became with Jana, she never talked about the auditor she was apart that she had to leave because she refuse to "dose" a p.c.
If we could picture Jana, it was integrity and she never feared to stand tall to her true convictions.
Nobody would mess with her.

So I'm auditing away in AOLA's HGC. Delivering End of Endless OT3 Reviews and OT4 Drug Rundowns and OT Preps and like that. They tell us that they can no longer have Non SO auditors working inthe HGC, so 3 of us routed back onto the Cl8 Course to sort of wait out the madness.
( AO didn't have many OT3 SO auditors. In fact, Howard Shube who was on the FEBC when I was, came to me and asked me to teach him to audit OT3s. Howard had no auditor training. I thought AO had hit the bottom of the barrel).
So I was now back on the 8 Course with a course supervisor who had not done the course, and who was in cramming herself, and was on NOTs and was buzzing. Yep. Buzzing. Red faced, nuts, buzzing with anger.
I noticed that SO staff were all witholding. There had been a Mission Holders Conference and my friends were being declared. I had seen Dean Stokes on the street outside AO and had thrown my arms around him. He told me not to let them see me doing that or I would be declared. I thought wtf.
I saw Alan Walter's declare posted on the bulletin board in the Reception area one day. I didn't believe Alan was suppressive, so I routed myself to Ethics to ask Gary Jacobs what was going on with the Mission Holders being declared. gary asked me if I had been talking to the public, and I told him that I AM the public.( I was a non-SO professional auditor) He told me to go sit in the hall and write up my overts.
I spent an afternoon out there and reported back to Gary that yes, I had talked to Alan ( by phone the previous day) and I had asked Alan if it were true, and if so, how did he get control of Bill Franks? ( ED Int). Alan said " I give good head". I thought it an hilarious answer, but Gary didn't laugh.
gary then decided that the answer to my problem was the ( latest and greatest fad) failure to apply the conditions to a past ethics sit. I had been delivering the action over at ASHO and at CC.
Gary asked if I had ever been assigned a condition that I didn't work out of. I said no, I didn't think so. Gary said, O you must have. At that out tech evaluation, the game was on for me. I said o well ok. One time I was assigned the condition of no condition and I didn't work out of it because I couldn't find a formula. So Gary told me to go and find the formula and work out of the condition.
I went over to the Central Archives and spent a whole day looking thru issues, and I found no formula for the condition of no conditiion. I went to the EO at ASHO and asked about it. ASHOEO Never heard of it. I went to my dear friend Peter Gillham, an old timer, and asked him about it. He had heard of the condition but didn't know of a formula. I went to another dear friend, John Sanborn, and asked John if he knew of the condition of no condition. John said that he did. I asked him if he knew the formula for it. John said " O yeah. The formula is Kiss LRH's ass".
So I went back to Gary and told him that I had gotten the formula. Gary asked what was it. I told Gary that the formula was "Kiss LRHs Ass". Gary was not amused.
Gary said that maybe I could help him with a problem that he had. I told him that I probably could, what is the problem. Gary said that they had a PC on OT3 who was so retimulated that they couldn't have him around the Org, could I take him home with me? He said that the PC was the son of a Seattle Judge, and that he had 'flipped out' on OT3. I asked Gary how crazy the guy was, was he screaming out of the incident? Because Spouse had not done his OT3 and I didn't want him exposed. Gary said not to worry, that they had him on a program. Gary said that they were giving him Thorazine, and the PC thought it was vitamins.
I was stunned.
I said you want me to take the son of a Seattle Judge home with me and dose him with Thorazine??!!
I pass!
I went to the auditing room that I shared with Manu, packed up my materials, my meter shield, my meter, and I blew the Org.
When I got home and told my Spouse and my daughter what had happened, they were also stunned. My daughter said " You are lying!" Spouse didn't say much.
When Spouse reported to Solo Course next day, he was given a routing form to Ethics. He blew the Org.

@lotus For some reason my replies aren't lining up right with the quotes today. IDK what I've messed up here, too many windows open maybe. So I had to edit this post.
Anyway, yeh, it meant the world to Jana to tell the David Voorhees story. That wasn't the first time she told it. The first time she wrote about it, nobody believed her but me, because I had worked with all the people she mentioned. When ESMB was still young, there were a lot of ex-staff on here but not so many ex-SO, so a lot of our ex-SO stories weren't widespread yet. We've come so far since then, learned so much of the inner happenings. Jana's story was a real shocker at the time. It still is - but now we know about Dr Denk and LRH and all of that, it all fits together and I can confirm many of the details she provided because I was there at the same time during much of her time at AOLA and remember her.
Then after the first time she wrote about it, we chatted and realized we knew each other, bless her heart, and she got braver and wrote the whole thread about it.
Jana was put through the ringer and kept her integrity. Lovely woman!
Her post has two different occasions of talking to Garry Jacobs on there and there is a time lapse between them that is not so clear. But it's all basically accurate, I'm sure of that. I'd estimate this happened in about 1982 or 1983.

Ya, Yana is an example of what maintaining one's integrity to the truth does for you.
It keeps you in one piece, true, happy, solid, decent: for to have betrayed one's trust in self and hence integrity to truth is actually the path to self annihilation.
The most decent and most beloved individuals I have had the honor and pleasure of meeting while in the cult all had that characteristic of refusal to bend the truth and the practicing of the insistence on integrity to truth.
Mark Jones, and wife Ellen, are two such. To be noted is that Mark created the Free Spirit Mag that saved many who left the cult in the '80's. John Raffanello is another in the vein.
And, to tell the truth, I stayed sane and in one piece simply because I refused to buckle to the insane falsities and threats leveled at me by the cult.
