When I was in the SO I spent hours and hours and hours trying to understand what a GE was. I never did get it.

I believe he was mistaken about there being a separate entity that picks up bodies like a thetan does. The idea doesn't match up with any data I know of outside of Hubbard's work or Scientologists' subsequent originations.

The idea of there being a template against which the body is built is fair enough, but my bet right now is that on an individual basis it is part of the human energy field, the aura. And an upper part too (in Barbara Brennan's work, the "Etheric Template Body"), which transcends the death of the meat body.

In History of Man, this aura that permeates the meat body and also extends outside of it is called by Hubbard "the thetan".

Or morphic field a la Sheldrake?

Don't worry, I wasn't taking you too seriously. Just a little break in "R." You know, if there wasn't one DM, I would probably still be a Scientologist and believe in it's workability. Then again, if there hadn't been one LRH, I would have never been one or have had to believe in it...

(If the above makes no sense, not a big deal -- I can't figure it out either at this moment. I guess my point is if someone removed all the references to a "deadly serious activity" and the attendant applications, I would be over it right this second. Matter of fact, I'd probably walk into the org to say hello to people and talk about what cute space aliens you can find at times... right here on Earth.)

Jesus! I sound like I'm drunk. Maybe that video that Tanstaafl linked to did have an effect on me...

:)

Life is a process....what happens at one point is not what happens later on...and the most "deadly" aspect is to get too serious about the activity.

Yes it would be fun to go into an org with no lingering misapprehensions from past considerations.

Trust the Psi Corps.
One being can run a number of bodies. Or there can be a number of beings running or associated with one body.

Hubbard was interested in soul splitting, that's where the bt stuff came from.

Theta is infinite and can take on whatever aspects it likes, to the extent that it is able to.

Yes, it is possible to exert an influence on another body. I think I've recounted this story before about 8C:

I was doing security at a fast food joint with another guy and we had a drunk who had well outlived his welcome. The other guy was going to approach him, and I warned, "Never engage in conversation with a drunk, you will be stuck there all night. Watch and learn."

We were way beyond his hearing range, but I looked straight at the drunk, and said in a very quiet voice, "You were just leaving, weren't you?"

Within two minutes, the drunk stood up and walked out with no appearance of being drunk. Once he got to the street, the drunkeness descended on him again, and there was a look on his face of "How the f did I get here?"

Your Jedi Mind Tricks wouldn't work on me, Xenu. When I'm drunk, and I intend to stay that way, that's just what I do!
