Picket Signs

This is a write-up on how to make a good picket sign.

It is concerned more with the board and stick and tape than the words to use.

A little bit from it:

2. The "basic sign"

A basic sign should possess several qualities:

1. It should be sturdy so it doesn't blow over in the wind or fall
apart.

2. It should be double-sided, because people look at you from all
sides.

3. It should be easy to hold, because you may end up protesting for
several hours, and you wouldn't want your arms to fall off.

4. It should carry a clear, concise, and easily readable message.

If we are going to target existing Scientoogists, and get them thinking, we would need short, pithy phrases that impinge on their universe and get them thinking.

What could some be?

How about: "Who Will Get Scientology's Ethics In?"

Or "Did Scientology Turn Out to Be What You Thought it Would?"

"Are You Really Freer Today Than When You Started?"

"Have You Disconnected From Yourself?"

'Target Existing Scientologists to Get Them Thinking?' Why not just beat our heads agains the nearest concrete wall to start with?

What should 'get Scientologists Thinking' isn't only the messages of the picket signs (which would be the same regardless of 'target') but the existence of the picket itself.

It says:
Scientology is opposed; with impunity
Scientology is not universally loved and respected
Scientology is impotent to stop public expression of opposition and rejection
*and* 'those people look like they're having fun; while we hide from them. Whazzup with that?'

I know. It's probably what drove Keith Henson mad - trying to deprogram someone with a picket sign.

So maybe we should just stick to exposing Scientology to the general public.

Get lots of media there.

I remember when I was on course on Staurday at LA org, I came in to course that morning and there were blankets on all the windows.

We were told that they were shooting a movie on LRH Way and that we could not move the blankets and look outside because it might ruin the shot.

When we broke for lunch, we saw that there was actually a picket going on.

I never forgot that they lied to me, instead of telling me the truth.

Lots of fence-sitters will see TV or YouTube or read press.

Since the CofS has abandoned the use of STANDARD TECH as a trademark to describe their services, there's nothing to stop people using it on signs.

"STANDARD TECH sessions at $60/hour - Google FREEZONE" for instance.

I won't attempt to use "Standard Tech" and "Paul's Robot Auditor" in the same sentence. :)

Count Your Public.

Uh, you just did.

Here's another one:

"If you think Standard Tech is dreck, Paul's Robot Auditor will listen."

Standard Tech

does not reflect

the gleaming monitor

of Paul's Robot Auditor.

Who lied to you?

L. Ron Hubbard?

*Everyone* in Scientology lies. How long would people stay in Scientology if everyone told the *truth* about what they thought?

One of the stongest ties holding people 'in' is the belief that 'it must be only me'.
