Thanks so much for videoing/protesting these events Smurf. I just love watching them and listening to your commentary.
Two things.
Re: Mark Schwartz. Do me a favor next time you see him tell him I said Hi-- (Patty from CT). I went to high school with his wife-- Patty O'Neill Schwartz and sadly got her into Scn via Narconon CT. Patty, formerly the ED NN Int, and now the President of "Friends of Narconon", was my closest friend but now she has disconnected from me because I speak out against the cult. Feel free to tell Mark about what I do and what I think about Scn and Narconon. Feel free to tell them that I am actively working to expose Narconon and Scn for the slimy organizations they really are.
Also You mentioned that Mark is now public. That's interesting. Ask him why he's no longer the OES of the Hubbard College? What happened to the Hubbard College in LA? Does it still exist?
Mark fancies himself as an "OSA volunteer" so ring his bell by telling him all you know about him!
Re: your breathing. Smurf, I really do care about you and am concerned when I hear you breath so heavily. I used to breath like that. Please walk more often and cut down on your portions. I want you alive when the cult goes down.

Thanks, Pooks. I've been asthmatic since I was a child. I now use 4 different bronchial inhalers to keep it at bay. Being overweight doesn't help. Thanks to my back & leg injuries from a work-related accident, all I can do for exercise now is walk. I tried to jog a bit last week... got about 20 feet.. and was in excruciating pain. The ortho doc gave me hell for doing that.
I also have to give myself 2 injections a day (into my abdomen) for lipodystrophy.

Perhaps you all can see about filing a civil rights complaint against the LAPD and the church for not honoring your right to protest and not going by the permit and allowing you to be on the sidewalks, unobstructed? For discriminating against you because you are not scientologists?

Mary... this has all been addressed, many times, in the past, by many people, and taking on the LA City Council & the LAPD is useless.
I was assaulted by an LA cop 3 years ago during the cult's ceremony for the new SCIENTOLOGY sign on Big Blue. I complained to LAPD's Internal Affairs & Community Affairs and all I got was "it's the officer's word against yours & we choose to go with the officer's version of events."
It was only after I retrieved videotape from an anon that captured the assault on film, that I provided copies of the video to Mayor Villaraigosa and LA City Council President Eric Garcetti (whose district includes the Scientology compound).
They took it up with the LAPD and I received a written apology from the LAPD, informed that the officer received a formal written reprimand that would be put in his personnel file (affecting future promotions) and that he was banned from working any future Scientology events.
I, and others, have met with Eric Garcetti (who's now running for LA Mayor), and he has informed us that he has the delicate role of representing his constituents, which includes Scientology. Eric was effective in changing the ways the cult did some things in the past, for example, no large events can be held at the LA Org-L Ron Hubbard Way site that would require closing down streets & sidewalks.
They now have to pay big bucks to hold their events at private facilities.
Unfortunately, the ACLU in Southern California is no interested at all, on taking on Scientology, regardless the issue. If you recall, they had the same mentality in Washington, DC, when Anon Sparrow was being tried in criminal court on lewd behavior, charges brought at the request of Rick Moxon & DC Org staffer Kim Bellotte.
An ACLU attorney attended the trial to observe it, but the ACLU wanted no part of the trial itself.

Are there any other groups that are allowed this kind of disruption? Or is Scn some special entity in Hollywood.
Hard to see why they curry such favor since thay pay no taxes.

As I commented in the previous post, the ACLU is very aware of Scientology's shenanigans and THEY DO NOT CARE. The COS has been very creative in pulling the blinders over the eyes of our politicians & police with their semi-annual fundraisers & parties for LAPD officers (donations for police equipment) and P.A.L.

Keep in mind that Hollywood films on the streets ALL the time, days and nights - movies, TV, commercials -- so we're used to the streets being taken up by some production or other, in addition to various construction and repair projects. Yea, it gets annoying, but it's not just the Churchies.

Seriously, I live in an apartment building off Hollywood Blvd that see's 10+ tour buses a day stopping on the side of it, so tourists can gawk at the 2nd floor window of an apartment next to mine, that Bruce Willis lived in 1984 (the year before he worked on his TV show, 'Moonlighting').
Then, there is actress Selma Blair's house across the street, James Dean's old house several houses down, and the myriad of homes in my neighborhood that have been used as location shots in TV & movies. <huge yawn>.

Last night Tory and I briefly chatted about this. Apart from $cientology glad-handing the right people, Tory said that one way they get the necessary permits from the city to close the street is by claiming that they are filming a documentary of the gala, so they get the same consideration that any film crew would get. it's all a sham of course. It sure sucks but I can't think of any way to combat it. Considering the cult's decades of vexatious litigation when they do not get their way I don't blame the city for rolling over. Odd though how all the cult's film activity coincides with their public events?

For me, the greatest thing about the picket was the responses we got from passing motorists and pedestrians. We were on Franklin Ave., which is a BUSY street. We got countless honks, thumbs up, approving waves. One guy pulled up, honked and shouted 'F$%# SCIENTOLOGY!' Then he drove around the block and repeated the same slogan. It was hilarious. People stopped to talk and take our pictures. One good looking young lady had her boyfriend take several shots of her posing with us. Etc.

It's the same at pickets of the org in Vancouver. It's located on Hastings St which is a very busy thoroughfare and we had countless honks and many passers-by stopping to ask questions and to offer encouragement. It seems that the truth about $cientology is getting out to the world at large.

I doubt the threat of litigation even comes into the picture. Politicians and police have always considered protesting of any kind to be troublesome, though they are bound by the First Amendment, so they adapt.
But, the police deliberately misinterpreted the street permit at the CC protest. I was there when the cop told Tory that the permit provided police the ability to shut off the sidewalks in cases of "emergency", then claimed protesters carrying signs as an emergency matter because the Scilons would view us as disruptive.
The only way that this can be resolved his through civil litigation, which would be very expensive & time consuming. Unfortunately, none of the protesters I know are from New York and have the last name, Trump.
