This is pretty off-topic, but what secular states have been seized by Christian churches? The Roman empire? That was more a case of Constantine seizing the church. The papal states? Geneva under Calvin?

This is pretty off-topic, but what secular states have been seized by Christian churches? The Roman empire? That was more a case of Constantine seizing the church.

It was a political deal done by the church & Constantine to ensure christian support for constantine's sole imperium in exchange for the enhancement of power for the church. Ultimately it led to the church assuming temporal power in the state.

The papal states? Geneva under Calvin?

All evolved under the assumption of the church's right to exert temporal power within the state as first developed in the latter stages of the Roman Imperium. The pattern was set in Rome. It persisted through the Dark Ages (arguably it caused them) and Middle Ages up until the rise of the enlightenment with its philosophical emphasis on the need for secular government independent of church or religious influence.

Let me say something about independant scientologists. That is speculation on my part and I might be totally paranoide. It is just that with scientology, nothing and I mean NOTHING surprises me anymore.

Someone and I dont remember who mentioned one time that maybe and I say maybe MR is working FOR scientology. What if DM is seeing that scientology is really going to fall apart. Alot we know but I'm sure alot we dont know about what is happening legally. Sooo, with that in my mind, MR and company might be scientologists trying to built a 'new scientology' but not against DM but working with him? Plus, they are getting scientologists back because there has been so many scientologists leaving in the last years plus all the shit getting out in the light. They got to find a way to 'keep scientology working'? Getting the exes back by saying the tech was altered, etc. We are going to 'fix you'. DM might even have taken money and is planning a trip on a far away land for the rest of his life? Anything is possible. And dont tell me none of you tought about that type of thing.

I've always been of the opinion that discussions should be open, honest, & frank. Anything valuable in scientology will survive such open discussions. Anything likely to suffer as a result of honest discussion is in need of elimination. Keep the good, dump the rest.

I agree with you HH, he doesn't put any point across at all.

There is a policy on books where Ron said that people respect books, especially big heavy hardcover books.

The thicker, the heavier and most definatrly hard cover, the better.

I think that this is what Marty is doing. He's saying if you don't respect me then respect the book. Read The Shack and then read LRH's books and then you may see I'm right is what he is saying. A credibility booster if you will.

It tells me not too many people take Marty seriously so he resorts to authority lines build credibility. I never heard of the book myself.

I posted way back on this thread that I understood perfectly what Marty was saying in his video. I even explained my understanding of it at FoTi's request. I think this thread is a dead-horse and no amount of beating it is going to produce anything worthwhile.

The speculation on this thread is very thin and based on a lot of assumption e.g. Some seem to assume that Marty is the only person who moderates his blog or approves posts.

Here's what I see happening (and not just on this thread);
There's often a big win with media such as the Aussie stuff or CNN stuff. There's a peak in activity and enthusiasm for the fight. These peaks are followed by a lull where everyone who has anything useful to contribute has already said it. Some posters here seem to be trying to keep things on the boil and sometimes hair off on lame duck subjects in an attempt to maintain the "level of win". It doesn't phase me, it is what it is. I think it's normal human behaviour.
