Remember When?

Someone on OCMB mentioned getting blase about people leaving, and I thought of making this post, Remember when? Please add anything you'd like.

Do you all remember when
-- Getting *a* media report was HUGE? (Now they're coming out, almost daily. Check www.xenutv.com for the latest, or www.WhyWeProtest.net, as well as here).

-- When *an* OT left, and spoke out---it was unbelievable?
Again, the list is thankfully huge now.

--Remember when Jason Beghe's interview came out and how he
nailed: "Show me a MFing Clear!" http://xenutv.wordpress.com/2008/04/21/jason-beghe-interview/

-- When the books re Scientology totaled 3? Now there are new ones
coming out, weekly! (www.blownforgood.com, www.MyBillionYearContract.com,
AmyScoby's, ( http://www.scobeepublishing.com/) Jeff Hawkins book is coming out soon, Larry Brennan has his
e-book on-line www.larrybren.blogspot.com with TONS of factual information about the organization of Scientology, etc. There are many more---please add ones you know.

--When finding someone to speak to media consists of about 4-8 people?
It used to be Gerry/Caroline, Arnie, Mark Bunker, Michael Pattinson,
Chuck Beatty, and Dave T, myself, Minton in his day. Now they're popping out, daily. (Forgive me if you did and I left your name out: Just add it here. I'm sure there were many more: those are the ones in the US I remember when media would ask me, "Who else can we call?")

-- When the main web site was Xenu.net (and the newsgroup, ARS: Alt.religion.scientology)? (Pre-exscn.net) :D

--When LMT (Lisa McPherson Trust) was around? http://www.lisamcpherson.org/ or Google LMT+Scientology

-- When those guys in the masks (Anonymous) hadn't arrived on the scene yet? (www.WhyWeProtest.net)

--When Scientology acted like Anonymous was "no big deal" :whistling: and they could handle this small group of kids, and got this:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4dcig_road-to-february-10-2008-final-vers :roflmao:

-- When ExScn.net hadn't been built or created? (Now it's huge)
www.exscn.net :happydance:

-- When www.exscnkids.com had not been created for those that grew up
within C of $?

--I'm sure some of you remember pre-2000, which all of above is from
my memory, having left in July of 2000. What else> oh yes! ARS.
Remember when *that* was huge?

--Remember pre-knowing the head of Scientology, David Miscavige,
beat people up? (now a given, we've heard SO many confirmations
of it)

-- Remember when we *heard* Marty Rathbun and Mike Rinder had
left, but weren't sure if that was true, or not? (see Marty's web site,
http://markrathbun.wordpress.com/
and the Nightline interviews on www.Xenutv.com)

--Remember pre-Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah's couch and telling
Matt Lower, "You don't know the source of Psychiatry"? (Key point
in media interviews, that opened WAY up after that)

--Remember pre-SouthPark posting the show re OT 3?
http://www.southparkstudios.com/guide/912/ (click on "Trapped
in the Closet")

--Remember pre-Youtube? HA!~ :omg:

These are just some of the KEY things I can think of, at the top of my
head. I'm sure there are many, many other key points that have
been part of this experience of exposing the abuses of the organization
known as the "Church" of Scientology.

Davey boy, as I've posted many times: Tick Tock, Tick Tock: Time
IS on **our** side!~

Congratulations to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has helped expose
this insidious CULT of Scientology!

I love you all :thankyou::hifive::rose:

I had a feeling many people new might not know half of ALL that has been
done. Yes~! What Anonymous has done is stupendous, fantastic, :happydance:
Rudabaga: Isn't that picket THE best, ever? I still love listening to it!

Since I escaped out of Scientology in 2000, people have thanked me. And I
ALWAYS remind people that I can only speak out thanks to ALLLLL the people
who helped create the very road I walk on. I feel the same for Anonymous.

I've met and had the great pleasure to become friends with ex-Scientologists
and critics, some great ones who are no longer with us. But what they did,
each one, is amazing and should never be forgotten. My greatest thanks to all who were here before us, many whose names are not even known, but they took on this insidious organization, back before the Net, all by themselves. They know who they are.:thankyou:

What each person does here, each day, is huge---and most have no clue how they effect other's lives. I have the pleasure and joy of speaking with many families and people waking up, so I try to remind others of this very JOY they may not hear. Parents thank you, people lurking thank you---children hoping their parents will wake up thank you all. Never forget this, please.

Bless all of you Rock ON~!:dance3:

Yes it really is amazing, the entire genesis of anonymous is what brought me here. I grew up (as an adult) in the world of activism through ACT UP when my friends were dying of AIDS. We didn't have the internet, we just met in basements and community centers trying to figure out what the hell we could do to slow the dying, to make the world pay attention and see it as the pandemix we knew it to be. No one was listening. It was the queers dying after all and no one cared. But we started as a small group of sad voices who grew angry and defiant but always loving.

I was truly shocked to see the way anonymous sprung from the internet and the people who felt wronged, who felt no one was listening and that something had to be done to stem the tide. I have to tell you that the internet affords this incredible wave of participation that moves so much faster, it's incredible to see. And then I wound my way here in my simple clicking from there to there to there and see you guys sharing your stories, pumping blood into the veins of this new movement and it's quite inspiring.

The brute force of will and love is stronger than your enemy could ever imagine. So I just feel lucky to have quite literally stumbled upon all this to see the next wave of activism and what it can accomplish. You all really do rock and I hope to help in any way that I can.

Dear Tory!

I cannot believe it's been over 2 years since Anonymous grabbed the torch and ran with it to help bring worldwide attention to this cause you and so many others before and after you have fought for over the years. I was a newbie in 2006, not an 'old guard' as so many others helping out before me and yet I could feel the collective relief after Anonymous embraced what Mark Bunkler aka WBM was suggesting.

So much has happened since February 2008. So, so much. I laughed and cried watching that video, remembering the worldwind of attention and excitement the protests generated, the surprised faces of the church SO, staff and members seeing people protesting, the amazing people going out and taking a stand in unison all over the world and on the internet and the games the church tried to stop it. Scientology certainly has lost much of the battle as a result of all the named and anonymous critics and protesters.

I don't know how many members and staff have been influenced by the Anonymous and critic movement but I suspect it is many. I know I was; But for me it was the ex's stories posted on the internet, FactNet, at lermanet.com, Xenu.net, OCMB, Xenu_TV videos and by the OG on ARS before anonymous hit the scene. When those Anonymous protest videos started being posted every week and people from all over the world began to post at enturbulation.org ( merged into WhyWeProtest.net) and ARS, it was nearly impossible to keep up with everything being done by so many to exp[ose Scientology. And it's still like that, despite what the Church has done.

Your post here is so appropriate and needed , because people need to know the history and embrace the goodness of the many who are Anonymous or not, who do good things voluntarily every day because this goal to dismantle Scientology and free the captives is still there being worked on all the time.

I love you all you OG's, you posters of your stories about your life in Scientology and of course, I love Anonymous. Thanks so much for your post, Tory. ((HUGGS))

Mary, You are So welcome! Thanks for all that you have done, too.
Each person means so very much. Every story, every view, every link---
ya never know what just might be *the* straw that breaks the Cult's back,
or their hold on a family or loved one.

Rudabaga--Excellent points re activism. I came from that, also, as a Hippie
fighting against the Vietnam war, working to bring about peace.
I was a *big* Free Speech Activist, which
was part of what helped me wake up, once I realized their clandestine group
I was working with (The Top Secret OSA Int, Internet Gang/mafia) were
*totally* against real free speech. :omg:<<<What a shock to realize that!

Lots of love to all :hifive:

Thanks to all of you. We all need inspiration and I found some here. Everyone keep pushing forward. It is both healing and generating so it's win-win for us all. And I have been sharing these links with friends in the legal and philanthropic communities here in NYC so it's all about weaving a movement from all fronts and I hope to participate.

Great post Tory! And great thread to all of you who contributed to it!

I'm definitely grateful to all those protesters and critics (including the Anon's!) who came before me and made it safe to speak out against the abuses and criminality of the CoS.

I'll be personally participating in my first live protest, going back to Boston Org where I started as part of the Northeast Megaraid.

I'll be returning to Boston Org for the first time in about 24 years! :happydance:

Tory,

Very worthwhile post. Thank you. You're a smart lady. History is what happened day before yesterday for those just now emerging from the Co$ and others new to the scene.

Great Post Tory

Reminds me of the book The Tipping Point. Where like drops of water in a bucket gets heavy and sloshes approaching the tipping point, where the Tsunami of dissent and protest become too overwhelming for the COS.

Then one day you get an Epic Catastrophic tidal wave like Cartwright, Travolta or Kristie Alley defecting and all demanding refunds of the 100s of millions they " Donated" over the years.

Sea Org families defected, reunited and healing. Secrets revealed, criminals convicted, the sick and injured cared for, children's lives salvaged.

Oh what a glorious day.:happydance:

God bless all who helped. All gave some, some gave all.
