Other than superstars like Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and John Travolta, not a lot is known about the religion of Scientology. But there does exist a tie to Guam - the L. Ron Hubbard Foundation is unveiling a rare pre-war exhibit of photos taken by Hubbard himself between 1926-1928.

Hubbard came to Guam as the son of a naval lieutenant and while teaching a class of young Chamorros, he began taking pictures which he later compiled in a study about Guam.Hubbard's public relations officer, Alexandra Kutuzov explained the group's interest in bringing the exhibit to Guam, "We were looking for people to interview that knew Ron Hubbard from that time period or knew the history of those photos. And there was such an interest in those photographs that we decided we'll bring the exhibit here so the people can see the cultural value of that time and actually share or give back part of that history to them."

The study was transformed into an exhibition that will be unveiled just in time for Chamorro Month. The L. Ron Hubbard Photo Exhibition opens this Friday at CAHA's satellite location at the Chamorro Village and will remain on Guam throughout March.

A study. Right. Just like the mineralogical survey he did.
Do all the people in the pictures have heads?

Take a look: [exhibit sampling]

That low lying 'Musician' almost qualifies as being *potentially* 'headless' when first looking at the photo because instead of a wind instrument sprouting from his nose it looks like a snake attacking his face with him fighting it off from the ground. Rorschach Test Alert! Rorschach Test Alert! : Man see's snake attacking Guam native face instead of a twisting branch horn extending from said natives head.

Look closely with zoom and you can see him blowing the Guam like Shofur with his *nose* which I'm sure really impresses Rahsaan Roland Kirk:

Unpingco [local historian and tourist consultant] said elders who can identify themselves in a photograph will receive a complimentary copy of the photograph."

Really? A complimentary copy of the photograph? After having survived *80 years* since the photographs were taken that's all the elderly few who are still breathing get as an intel/history prize from Scientology? I'd rather be a Japanese soldier ensconced in the Hills still thinking it was WW2 than 'accept' some piddly photo in the name of a so-called 'historically relevant' event with me as part of it..
