I put a friend in Narconon.

He was doing well for a while.

He got regged for two intensives.

The E.D. sent him back out on the streets to get the money.

We found him dead under the kitchen sink. Methadone and booze.

I wish someone would have contacted me about the money about his auditing.

Anyway, I got so bummed out I went on a little drinking binge myself. It was right before the holidays and I don't recall anything about those days that followed.

Anyway, here's a nice song going out to that fellow where ever he is right now:

I took the song off. The video's take up a lot of bandwidth so I have to use them sparingly.

Dear T.O. - I'm so sorry that happened. I'm not really sure why an ED of a DRUG REHAB would send out an ADDICT to raise $$$$$$.

This is what I really hate-incompetents acting like "experts" because they have the "tech".

Great song also!!!:bigcry: :bigcry:

Thanks.

I had the same thoughts.

I just took him to the wrong place in that time.

Or I didn't pay enough attention.

People keep asking me "Where is the charity in these 'non-profit orgs'.

When I say there is none, they tell me that they should not be 'non-profit' then.

I think I agree...

That's a reasonable line of thought.

I think I agree too.

The Sea Org actually makes money on the druggies.

They tax the Narconons 10% of their income and make them sell the books from Bridge, their publishing company, a set of paperbacks for over 1300.00.

Imagine someone falling in the front door of a Narconon fighting for their life and a staff member or reg there telling them they have to buy the paperbacks for over 1300.00 before they can get started?

I wonder what they charge for the program.

Patty said when they got government funding the Sea Org demanded 10% of that too.

This doesn't surprise me at all.

The purpose of the cult is to extract money from its victims. It is a parasite.

It seeks out people who are vulnerable.

So it is no surprise that they have a special division created to victimize people who are trying to overcome an addiction to drugs.

A person in that position is especially vulnerable.

So I'm not a bit shocked that the ED sent your friend out to drum up the cash.

That ED would have have personally stuck the needle in your friend's arm if he thought it would loosen his wallet.

That happened to one of my family.
$15,000 up front or no help. I mean NO help. Go off and die, if you like. A "friend" of the family was running Narconon then.:grouch:

The family member went to a psychologist instead, found compassion and real understanding combined with practical support, and it saved their life.

As a point of reference to the real world of dopers...

They're dealing with conniving dopers, people!! Help providers know this and get their money before the dopers figure out a way to leave or get supplied.

Back in the early 1990's, I was involved in an intervention on behalf of my sister-in-law, a nurse who'd become hooked on pain killers. Because I had the dough, the other intervention members checked her into one of the nicest places in the southwest, and she was cured. 30 days, $500 per day, all upfront or with insurance, or she would not be allowed in.

The current rate for similar care today is about $1,700 a day, and, yes, it's all upfront or you don't get your cure. NON-REFUNDABLE, now and then, for any reason other than a complete no-show. Didn't Ron say money was the 9th dynamic?

Great food, by the way.

Exactly! That's just making it go right.

Thanks for the link to the references.

But Oracle, you were really just trying to help your friend. You were duped, just like we are were. But we aren't being used to perform scn's dirty deeds anymore! :hand:

I think the management of the organization has no charity in its "heart" or whatever it is they have where the heart would be. But I do think there are lots of staff who really do hope to make a difference.

Too bad they're so hogtied and hidebound by CofS insanity.
