Scary similarities between Jonestown and Scientology

I just watched a documentary on the Jonestown Cult! Witness to Jonestown http://www.nbcnews.com/id/27052411/ It is very similar to the Scientology. Jim Jones started out as a religious "Christian":whistling:preacher that slowly slipped over to the dark side. He became extremely paranoid and had his followers do suicide drills. Jim Jones also was popping lots of "pinks and greys" and they showed him during his last days licking his lips a lot (kind of like Pat Broeker during his debut telling the clubbed seals old El Ron went to Target Two to clear it). Jim Jones, in his early days of his cult, did a lot of "special favors" for politicians and cops - lots of humanitarian type of volunteering (using his clubbed seals of course). There were beatings and people were not allowed to leave. It really is amazing the similarities. I don't think David Miscavige will order a mass suicide...but he is definitely at the end of his rope. "THEY" are closing in on him...and "THEY" are everywhere. The fact that he drinks Scotch daily, is extremely paranoid and has done so many bad, bad things to people...will drive him insane! It is the end....and the only suicide I would suspect would be COB killing COB! It is hard to believe the United States Government allows this cult to exist with all of the proof all over the media and internet of the criminal organization called Scientology!! Sea Org SLAVES - Please get out of Scientology - slip notes out to the public. Give it to a waitress, a busboy, a taxi cab driver, a dentist - anyone on the outside of the cult. Tell them you are a Sea Org Staff member in the Church of Scientology and you are not allowed to leave and have no money, no home, no job! Tell them to contact the Senator's and Congressmen and tell them you are being held against your will!! Here is the Jonestown story: http://history1900s.about.com/od/1970s/p/jonestown.htm

I highly recommend this

DANGEROUS DEVOTION TO CULTS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2I0MUHF_6I

from which I transcribed a few points

at 43:01 FBI project Megiddo report. 1999 to identify which cults had the potential to become dangerous

Eugene V Gallagher
Professor of religious studies, Connecticut college at 43:05 one of the theories....any group which
imagines a catastrophic end to the world,
might itself turn to violence.

at 40:39 Robert Jay Lifton..Professor of Psychiatry , Harvard University says at 43:28
"one can say that groups that are very intense in their declaration the the world will end and in their
preparation for it,
they might potentially become violent. But the potential for violence is not a crime."

in a society where religous faith is praised but religious violence it condemned

at 44:04 Eugene V Gallagher says

****as long as there a call in a religious community to live a life that is different from the life that everybody else lives,
to obey laws or practices that might be different from everybody else there is the possibility of tension. Where ever there is a
possibility of tension there is a possibility of conflict. Wherever there is the possibility of conflict
there is the possibility of violence **********

At 45:50 Lifton say...there is every indication that we can expect a lot more cultic violence

And with specifics to who to contact regarding "protection of the individual' from the Justice website (some of it applies to international situations also)

http://www.justice.gov/usao/eousa/foia_reading_room/usam/title9/60mcrm.htm

which contains 9-60.111 Kidnapping/Missing Persons—Prosecution Policy

Kidnapping/Missing Persons—Prosecution Policy

It is been the policy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that, except in parental kidnapping
matters, every reported kidnapping in which circumstances indicate an actual abduction has taken place
is afforded an immediate preliminary investigation to determine whether a full investigation under the
Federal kidnapping statute is warranted.
It is the policy of the Criminal Division to review any decision made by the FBI not to conduct an
investigation in those missing persons cases wherein the facts indicate possible violations of the Federal
kidnapping statute. Under this policy, the FBI will refer information concerning questionable missing person
cases to the Criminal Division. The Division will thoroughly review such information, and if deemed
warranted, will request the FBI to commence a kidnapping investigation.
Concern as to the adequacy of the investigative guidelines in situations where much younger children are
missing has prompted the FBI to adopt the practice of immediate involvement. With regard to missing children
of very tender years, in many cases an abduction may be assumed, so as to warrant an immediate preliminary
kidnapping investigation by the FBI.
United States Attorneys who become aware of a missing person case in their district which may involve a kidnapping should insure that such information is brought to the attention of the Criminal Division. Questions concerning this policy should be directed to attorneys of the Gang Unit if it is a domestic matter or a gang-related international matter or the Human Rights and Special Prosecutions Section if it involves a non-gang related international matter.
[updated May 2010]

special attention should be paid to 9-60.112 Prosecution Policy—Allegations of "Mental Kidnapping" or "Brainwashing" by Religious Cults

What was most revealing in Guyana is the California Congressmen flew there with some media to see if people were being held against their will. Jim Jones put on an event and the clubbed seals all clapped and clapped and clapped (wow - that sounds familiar). The reporters stated the endless clapping was eerie and unnatural. Jim Jones asked if anyone wanted to leave and only one woman stood up and said she wanted to leave. Everyone else "acted" like they were happy there and wanted to stay. Later that day - Congressman went for a walk to have a cig along the property and other members were slipping him notes - "GET ME OUT OF HERE"! Many wanted out and they did not have enough room on the planes so Congressman stayed behind. He was attacked and decided to leave and then was shot at the airport along with several journalists. If this does not prove "mind control" - what does? The Governments of the World need to revisit this story - maybe send a letter to your congressmen and senator's along with the video of the massacre in Guyana! It happened in 1978 and that was a long time ago. The mind control is very clear with the story of Jonestown massacre - how could any Government allow a "religion" to have a prison or any kind???

as i understand it, american authorities haven't been utterly remiss

they have gone in and the people have said they are there of their own free will

sequestering does have a long history in religion and spirituality

and people can leave CoS. we're right here. some people start a leaving process from RPF

CoS policies push the legal envelope but they don't do too bad as long as they hold to their own policies. there are abuses; lisa mcpherson is a prime example. the bruises indicate she was in restraint and incommunicado and this is on the wrong side of the line

Yes - they said they want to be there on their own free will...but we all know that they HAVE to say that ...or else! Look at Rathbun's, Rinder's and Tom De's wives on National Television - they LIED through their teeth!! They said their husbands told them everything....and we know in the Sea Org - a Sea Org SLAVE cannot talk about anything ...or else... It is just like in Guyana - during the Jimmy Jones event - only one person spoke out...but once they were out from under the "tent" - then they told the real truth and wrote notes to the Congressman that they wanted out. If Sea Org Slaves were asked - if you could leave and you will be still in good standing, you don't have to route out, no disconnection and you will be paid for "years served" - no one would be there. They are there because they are trapped! Pure and simple!! Miscavige and a few of his goons may stay but they stay because they enjoy all of the benefits and $$$,$$$ incomes. Everyone else being abused would leave unless they are crazy...and there will be a few die hard crazies too!

Seems like many of the dead at Jonestown may have said the same thing about their sequestration. "No, I'm fine! It's all good!" Somehow, I just don't feel any better.

And does that absolve us or, honestly, the authorities, of responsibility? I don't think so and I've said so for a long time.

Jolly West lectures on "Cult Phenomenon - Mental Health, Legal and Religious Implications"

Audio lecture part ONE - Part TWO (real media files)

You gottah hear Dr West describe Jonestown....

"Jolly West lectures on "Cult Phenomenon - Mental Health, Legal and Religious Implications"

From a conference held in Los Angeles California, and observed jointly by the Department of Continuing Education and Health Sciences of the UCLA extension; by the NeuroPsychiatric Institute which is this facility and by the Southern California Psychiatric Society.

There are two very different public images of the contemporary organizations sometimes called cults. Especially of those to which the adjective, religious is usually attached. One these images might be called Utopian, which suggests emergence of a healthy, new spiritual sectarianism. This image portrays congregations of Pilgrims, who after a search for a meaning in life, or truth or self-fulfillment have found a band of kindred spirits, under the benign guidance of a divinely inspired prophet, guru, master, or [unintelligible]. They are busy living happily. Their bliss is only occasionally troubled by memories of the doomed society they left behind. Or the unwarranted intrusions of ignorant, misguided family members, and their monstrous agents, called deprogrammers.

This invokes the spirits of Dante Alighieri and his 14th century Vision of Hell. We see the cult, the place where men, women and children are bound to a satanic master. They trusted him in a happier time, believing his promises, sinking by imperceptible stages deeper and deeper into his power. Surrendering their possessions, their children, their very souls for his mysterious purpose. With Dante we follow them to this distant place. Where sighs, lamentations and loud wailings resound through the starless air. So then at first, it makes us weep. We hear in the immortal words of Dante, words of pain, tones of anger, voices loud and hoarse. And with these, the sounds of hands making a tumult which is whirling through that air forever, as sand eddies in a whirlwind. Above the whispers of the damned we might hear a single child's voice calling out, 'I'd die for you, dad.' A quotation from the Jonestown tapes. " Transcript continued HERE
