Fookin' A. My current company is Windows only. What a bunch of wankers.

I'm still windows XP and a computer I built from scratch 14 years ago.

I have never purchased virus protection, still don't have it. LOL

I just do restore from a previous point to get things back to normal on the occasion that I had problems. LOL

I'm not advocating Windows, just stating a fact from my experiences.

Which is why I restored my scientology progamming from a earlier point in time,

I restored myself to before scientology. LOL

My new computer is Windows 8. 'Nuff said. :puke2:

I have Windows 8 and had similar problems. Finally, I fiddled around with some of the settings, but I'm a very green amateur, so it's a bit hard to say which, though I'll try.

For exscn, I had to hit the little text icon to copy and paste (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V), which I didn't need to do before. I also had to go into my computer's programs to find ones that had somehow snuck into my system and delete them, because I was getting a lot of popups and ads and other things weren't working properly. It was easy enough to do it by date, btw, as long as I avoided anything with a Windows ending.
From there, I then restored to an earlier point, then Windows 8 told me I had to download other programs, which I did, and then everything worked beautifully.

I never had any troubles at all with Windows XP and IMHO, it is far, far better than Windows 8.

What happens if you place the cursor at the start of where you want to copy, then hold down the SHIFT key and use the arrow keys to shift the cursor over (and probably highlight) the material to copy, then use the CTRL-C (to copy to clipboard), and then the CTRL-V to paste??

What happens? Well...coffee came pouring out of the monitor screen thingie and then in my bafflement, I thought I heard Hubbard singing at which point I ran from the room screaming.

I write this in the middle of flummoxedness (I don't care if there isn't such a word) trying to sync photo programs with devices. I have officially gone mad and I'm, patiently, waiting to be shot.

God the telex machine era was so much less baffling eh. :wink2:

p.s. Is it possible to connect my smart phone to my old typewriter?

p.p.s fuck it! I'm gonna just blow and go mow the lawns!

This year is the 50th anniversary of BASIC. No, not the Basics. BASIC Programming.

They just don't write 'em like that anymore.

Oh, and I'm breaking up with the subject of scientology. To hell wid it all.

I have a very soft spot for Basic. Not that I can code, but I used to watch my ex-husband program in it for hours on end. A lot of the time even I could read the programs, although I couldn't write in it.

Sometimes it's good to take a break from stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed my time away playing World of Warcraft, but sometimes little things happen that just let you know you're ready to move on to the next thing in life. I've been having some driving lessons, which has been quite interesting and sometimes even fun. The worst part is learning to turn hand over hand after being taught to drive with the push-pull method in Australia, as well as looking ahead of me in the left lane for traffic instead of behind me.

It's nice to see your post up there, Lone Star. So, yay!!

The BASIC programming language of today is very different from the old original Dartmouth BASIC.
For example GOTO is discouraged and there are NO line numbers.

I would even go so far as to say that it is a completely different programming language.

Had the same issue, fiddled in chromes settings(if I remember it correctly) and got Ctrl C V Working.

I believe Windows 8 is the best OS so far on the market, barring doing your own Linux set up, and it works really good for me! Ima gonna keep believing that until I find something else I believe works better. :booze:

LMAO... yeah, I was HOPING that was the vid that you posted... hadn't heard it in years. Yep, I'm a total goob and surf on Opera whenever I can because nobody bothers to write viruses to attack that... plus, it's usually faster. Yeah, some days I want to beat the hell out of the folks who made firefox 'popular'.... omg. Bugs and slowness and glitches OH MY!

 To hell wid it all.

Someone PM'd me and asked if what I posted above means I'm done with ESMB. No I am just done with discussing the subject of scientology. My personal definition of subject of scientology means anything about the tech, and various other topics such as whether it's a religion or not. I'll continue to join in on threads regarding court cases, breaking news, etc... In other words my definition of subject of scientology is like pornography....I know it when I see it. LOL..

Mainly I just want to control my very obvious problem with temper. It's been a lifelong struggle and I'm too old to totally overcome it, so I just have to try and avoid situations in which I know there's a high probability of my 'losing it'. LOL...

Well...the poor man is still drinking the koolaide!

"Scientology is a religion. I have seen ample evidence both from within its organizations and from without them that scientology is workable to the degree one believes in it. It works when one believes that it will."

Magical thinking... or, another chorus of "It's true if it's true for you"... YECH!

Or not: It hasn't killed millions of people yet

I also struggle with that. I know how difficult it is and how awful a person can feel afterwards. It makes you feel like a bad person when you're really a good person. Some things that are hard to change do just need to be managed, and I really hope this strategy works out for you. So glad you are still going to be posting here.

I have been intimate with repressed anger all my life. Yep. Pushing it inside, hiding it, avoiding it, blah, blah, blah. Fierce anger that made me sad, mad and feel either full of fire inside - or dead inside. Shame helped me shove it deep inside - hey girls don't get angry do they? Pfff.

Finding a way to gently, safely, let it out, moving deep into it, has changed everything.

Self-compassion, mindfulness, chocolate, gratitude, forgiveness, dancing...I HIGHLY recommend them all. Daily!

I am a woman who can get angry, sad, joyful, miserable, giggly, peaceful, agitated, calm, mean, generous, kind, cruel, serene, fierce, gentle, etc, etc. Human.

And I whole-heartedly extend my relentless love to the therapists that have patiently sat with me as I found my way to my inner self. Gawd am I that imperfect, that perfect, that human? Yep. :):):)

Celebrating perfection and imperfection, daily!
