Pull the permit, George! Do it! Do it!
If city officials determine that the Scientology mural violates city code and the church refuses to take it down, the city could withhold a certificate of occupancy for the tent, said city spokeswoman Joelle Castelli.
It was unclear late Monday if an absence of that certificate would mean that the church would violate fire codes or other laws if it chose to use the tent for events anyway.
The tent has apparently been equipped with a sound system, air conditioning and wooden floors. Recently, loud music was heard blaring from inside. The church has erected barricades and posted no-trespassing signs around the tent.
Okay, I just emailed George!
Hi George,
I have been an ex-Scientologist for 20 years, and I just wanted to tell you how thrilled I am to see somebody in Clearwater standing up to Scientology.
They act like they are above the law - let alone the rules that ordinary people have to follow.
It just seems so wrong the way they took over Clearwater and treated Mayor Cazares and all the other low and dirty tricks such as trying to infiltrate the St Petersburg Times. The Clearwater Hearings are still some of the best material exposing the modus operandi of this organisation.
I did have the chance to visit Clearwater recently and was shocked by the sterility of the downtown area in a setting so beautiful and picturesque as it is. It truly saddened me. The heart of the city should be for all to enjoy, not just one group.
Anyway, congratulations on standing up to them. I doubt that they will follow the rules - they can afford not to. Surely there is something that can be done to curtail the power of organisations like this, though? Other local governments must have run into similar situations from time to time.
But mostly it's just so great to see somebody standing up for the rules, and everybody being equal under the law. As Anatole France famously said, "The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread." The point being that there should be substantive equality as well as formal equality in the rules, because while formal equality might SEEM equal, in effect the rules will affect the rich and the poor differently - the weak and the powerful.
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my message. I wish you all the best with it.

DOWN WITH THE MURIEL!
Let’s Pitch In for Some Kneepads for Clearwater’s Mayor It’s getting tough to be keep up with all of the things Scientology wants for its upcoming events from the city of Clearwater. But put yourself in Mayor George Cretekos’s place. He’s caved to so many of Scientology leader David Miscavige’s multiplying demands we figure it must be getting tough for him to keep up. But then we spotted this item on the Internet and thought, now that’s what George needs — kneepads with wheels!
You probably heard what happened yesterday, courtesy of Charlie Frago at the Tampa Bay Times. We had reported that the big GAT II/Super Power grand opening event was coming up fast — the weekend of November 15-17. Yesterday, the church got more specific, telling the city that the big Super Power event will take place at 1 pm on Sunday the 17th.
We had also previously told you that a permit for street and sidewalk closures required notice of 30 days. But the church says it wants extensive — nay, astounding — closures for the event, and it wants them as early as this Friday! It also wants Fort Harrison Avenue shut down from Friday evening the 15th to Sunday afternoon!
This Sunday we had major streets here in New York closed down for less than a full day for the marathon, and it was a great street party. But we cannot imagine closures like that, of a major artery, for a full weekend.
And this, after David Miscavige has already flouted city codes by chopping down a couple of healthy live-oak trees to make way for his big tent and has also put a giant mural on his tent in violation of city signage ordinances.
Oh, and that’s not all. The church’s film crew wants to remove street lights and signals at the main intersection outside the Super Power Building to facilitate filming. And get this — it wants all of these things RIGHT NOW, with only days for the city to approve them, after it took Scientology 15 years to complete the building, a project so delayed it racked up $435,000 in fines.
There are so many places George needs to be on his knees in the coming days, we need to get him that contraption as soon as we can!

George, if you're checking forums, here's a quick visual as to the unacceptable policies of scientology.
Here's what Fair Game is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_Game_(Scientology)
Reverse Processes: Reverse auditing, (also Reverse Processing)
1. The purpose for applying "reverse auditing" is to induce a psychotic break in a person. [mp, ref]
2. It is basically a guilt trip inducing thing. Positive processing asks neutral questions designed to let the person find "stuff" and look at it more or less objectively. Negative or "reverse" processing asks questions containing an implicit accusation that will introvert the person into mental quicksand. [eb, ref]

Here's what R2-45 is - getting shot in the head with a 45 caliber pistol. In one lecture, Hubbard even suggested the brand of pistol to be used: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R2-45
Tony O wrote this earlier today (below). When I first read it I thought it was kind of harsh but after reading the linked article in the SP Times I understood why he wrote what he did:
Thanks for this Type4. From Vistaril's post in the comments on Tony's blog comes the link to Mayor Cevares interview, which I believe every Mayor would do well to watch. It is a very fine interview.

I noticed the name "Freda Gaiman" in that HCO Ethics Order. Was she related to David Gaiman?
