German actor Sky du Mont, who befriended Cruise during the filming of Eyes Wide Shut, says he’s witnessed a real change in the actor as he’s become more involved with the church over the past few years — and it hasn’t been an improvement.

Same for Chick Corea's music, wonderful first album, but seemed that $cientology added an essence like fingernails scratching glass, almost like 'pain' is being broadcast, in his later works, which i could not listen to.

It's interesting to me because from the perspective of acting in particular, there are some tools in Scn that could be initially useful - tone scale drills, data on valences, even some of the info on mock ups could all be useful to an actor. I think the change with Cruise stems from his adoption of the zealot's point of view - he's firmly entrenched in his belief system now and has adopted the idea that he is incredibly special and unique and a 'big being" and it's sucked all the charm and warmth out of him. He sounds very much like every RTC rep I ever met, save one.

Not sure if this video has ever been posted here, but it's interesting to see how expressive TC was in his younger days -- especially when he's trying to simultaneously think and answer the religious questions from the interviewer.

Yeah, those drills look good on the surface for actors, but what they do is push the emotions down, which is exactly why Tom today has the range of a cigar store Indian.

It just dawned on me that the ONLY time I see YouTube videos removed have to do with the Cult. Literally, I can't think of any other time when I go to watch a YouTube video & it's not there. Do they spend all day surfing the 'net looking for videos related to the Cult & then get them removed????

Tom Cruise's acting sucks in the last few years.

It's canned. It's fake. It's the same sort of persona over and over and over - an arrogant, self-absorbed something or other.

I watched "The Last Samurai" for the first time a few days ago (didn't rent it, won't give Cruise a dime). Cruise really stunk in that movie, and it was a great script. Dozens of actors could have played it better.

Tom as an actor frustrates me. I know he has talent but he seems spotty and inconsistent somehow. He was really good in Minority Report, Rainman, The Color of Money and especially in Collateral. I enjoyed those a lot, but in other movies I just cannot stand the sight of his smarmy mug.
