If trump being elected has bothered your mother she could take a look at some of the SNL skits, John Oliver's shows, Stephen Colbert, John Stewart material. Just to look at it from a comedic side. Step away from the ideas that scientology has about the world outside scientology.

Yeah, my whole family likes comedy but I guess I no longer think this is THAT funny? I don't really feel like I have the privilege to be detached from the issues enough to think the parodies are that funny anymore.*

* Yes I've laughed at every SNL episode with Melissa McCarthy as Spicer.

The abject weirdly self-destructive nature of the COS (Crimewave of Scientology). . .

A lesson in how to make people fear, hate and ridicule you.

First, create an awesome alliance with the Nation of Islam, a hate cult with a sociopathic racist at the helm.

Then, use your celebrities (Kirstie Alley) and TRUMP DRESS WOMAN (Joy Avila) to align your PR to a guy half the country (liberals) morbidly hate, Donald Trump.

Add to that, be sure to defraud, bankrupt, harass and betray 99% of your parishioners so that they don't get what they paid billions of dollars for--and they blow in any ugly scornful way. Then when they blow, fair game them! And set up hate websites against them! Disconnect their friends, family and children from them. Yeah, that should do the trick. Then they'll not only hate you but they will endlessly crusade against you online and in the worldwide media.

Now that's what I call "PR AREA CONTROL"!!! LOL

With regard to saying Donald Trump was "crazy," Joy Villa has responded: "Just 2 b clear, I was confused, scared, yes said that. Then I opened my eyes, and voted for what's right: Trump"

The evidence, however, suggests she did not vote for Donald Trump.

This is from billboard.com:

"According to Nielsen Music, based on initial sales reports, the album sold 2,000 copies on Sunday in the U.S. -- up from a negligible figure the day previous."

And that 2,000 figure accounts for albums sold across all platforms, including Amazon. So maybe it sold 400 copies on Amazon, 1,100 copies on iTunes and another 500 or so physical copies. Big fucking win!! Imagine how many building and libraries that's going to pay for!
:coolwink:

It might pay for the cost of having the dress made.

It seems Joy’s stunt was a successful end run around the music establishment and that assuming the Amazon reviews weren't a stat push a la Battlefield Earth, people actually like her music. The next level up from the Patron Meritorius donation level to Scientology seems to be Silver Meritorius ($500,000.00).

Based on the Underground Bunker article, the 250k needed to upgrade to Silver Meritorious divided by 29,000 sales units equals only $8.62 per unit. I don’t know what the net profit is to Joy per unit but if I were an IAS registrar I’d be on the horn to Joy tout suite.

Then, on Wednesday of this week, Billboard officially confirmed that I Make the Static held the number 12 spot in the Billboard 200, citing 27,000 in album sales and 29,000 equivalent sales units.
///
An unseen but important factor driving the success of Villa's I Make the Static is that people genuinely liked the album. Of the nearly 500 Amazon.com reviews from verified purchasers, some 70% made glowing comments about the quality of the music itself (4). Reviewers routinely complimented Villa's voice, comparing her to singers such as Peggy Lee, Debbie Harry of Blondie, and Shirley Manson of Garbage. Fans of genres such as 1990s alternative, soul, country, heavy metal, progressive rock, classic rock, and jazz purchased the album and discussed their favorite tracks, of which "Vagabonds" was mentioned often. Several reviewers mentioned that they normally do not purchase newer music and found Villa's album a refreshing alternative to current pop artists.

Scientology singer Joy Villa of Grammy dress fame to perform at Gays for Trump Rally.

The Advocate: Gay Trump Supporters Organizing Rallies for President on Saturday

A group called Gays for Trump is one of the lead organizers of supportive presidential rallies being held on Saturday in Washington, D.C., Virginia Beach, Va., Raleigh, N.C., New York City, Berkeley, Calif., Reno, Nev., and Las Vegas.

The largest event should be in D.C., where a rally at the Washington Monument will precede a march to the White House. Gays for Trump president Peter Boykin told the Washington Blade that the event is open to all but that "you will see a lot of rainbow flags."

The D.C. gathering will feature a performance by Joy Villa, a virtually-unknown singer who tried to make a name for herself by wearing a dress festooned with pro-Trump signs to last month's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

The Blade: Gays for Trump to rally in D.C. on March 4

https://www.washingtonblade.com/2017/03/01/gays-trump-rally-d-c-march-4/

The North Carolina-based group Gays for Trump is playing a lead role in organizing a rally and march in support of President Donald Trump scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, March 4, at the Washington Monument in D.C.

Gays for Trump President Peter Boykin said the D.C. event, which will include a short rally at the site of the Washington Monument followed by a march to the White House, is not a specifically gay event but organizers expect many LGBT people to be participating.

“It is for everybody but you will see a lot of rainbow flags,” Boykin told the Washington Blade. “D.C.-area Gays for Trump will definitely be attending.”

He said organizers have obtained a U.S. Park Service permit for the rally and D.C. police are expected to escort march participants to the White House along 17th Street, N.W. The crowd is expected to end up at or around Lafayette Park, Boykin said.

According to a Feb. 26 press release issued by organizers of the event, “March4Trump” rallies and marches will also take place on March 4 in other cities throughout the country in addition to D.C., including Virginia Beach, Va.; Raleigh, N.C.; Las Vegas and Reno, Nev.; Berkley, Calif.; and New York City.

Singer and songwriter Joy Villa will be a keynote speaker at the D.C. rally at the Washington Monument, the press release says. She will be accompanied by clothing designer Andre Soriano, who designed the Make America Great Again gown that Villa wore at the Grammy Awards ceremony last month in Los Angeles, the release says.

“She, along with the March4Trump Organization, is seeking to unite the nation together in support of our newly elected president,” organizers said in a statement. “The goal of these marches and rallies are to peacefully unite all people,” the statement says. “March 4Trump is seeking only individuals who wish to spread love rather than hate, unite rather than divide, and support rather than resistance,” it says.

Wealthy Scientology donor Joy Villa plays latest prank on ‘Gays for Trump’ today in DC.

Tony Ortega has an article about Joy Villa's appearance at the 'Gays for Trump' rally with plenty of good pictures. I won't try to excerpt it -- read the entire article -- but will instead provide the link and one particularly nice graphic.

In January 2017 singer Joy Villa of Trump Grammy dress fame said she didn't like Trump.

From Tony Ortega's article about singer Kuba Ka.

Later, [Kuba Ka] says he met with Joy and her publicist, and Kuba says he suggested that to expand Scientology’s reach, they should go to Washington DC and try to meet the new president. (“I don’t actually support Trump. I just mean we should try to meet with him because he’s the president. I don’t support anybody. I only support the United Nations and Queen Elizabeth,” Kuba adds with a laugh.) At the time, in January, he says that Joy reacted negatively, saying that she didn’t like Trump.

“I had told her and her publicist that Scientology was too much behind closed gates. Let’s show the love and bring in the media, bring in Leah Remini. And after I told them that, Joy and her publicist told me they couldn’t be around me because I was too controversial and was talking about reaching out to Trump. Then she turned around and supported Trump!”

Kuba thinks his suggestion was the seed that motivated her later to wear a “Make America Great Again” dress to the Grammys, which instantly made her famous with Trump supporters.

<snip><

Joy realized that her dislike of Trump was irrelevant because her stunt wasn't done to promote Trump, it was all about promoting herself.

Lying about her true feelings, pretending to like Trump so she could do a self-promotional stunt is so Scientological.

A Scientologist can almost always justify any means to an end which they see as the "greatest good".

Yes, was just about to say the same things. Joy was self-serving, but above all "Hubbard-serving" just like any good cult member.

Still, if she ever can get separated from the cult, I could really like her. She is very vivacious and actually likeable, the way I see Leah Remini.

It may be difficult for her to see the true nature of the cult right now because she just sees how the cult is treating HER, and for anyone who reads Tony O's blog today about Kuba, you can see how the cult treats these people they want to use for their own purposes. On one hand they really roll out the red carpet, treat them like a big celebrity (even when they're not), but they also seek to heavily control the lives and careers of these people.

Joy is probably enjoying the celebrity treatment but she's on a very short leash. The moment she begins originating any of her own ideas that are contrary to CoS policy her eternity will be threatened so fast her head will spin.

The non-Scientologists would be amused, and the Scientologists wouldn't get the joke.

Now, walk around Fort Hamilton Ave in a jacket with American Psychiatric Association on the back, and you might get a response.
