Scientology Skip Tracing My Sister

A couple of years ago I was offered this post. It's called the neighborhood program. The OT commitee said I'd be perfect for it. Of course I was already out. I politely declined.

I do have to be impressed with their determination and persistence! My kids - starting at ages 1 1/2 and 5, went to Theta Power School and then Apple School for a total of 3 years. That was their SOLE contact with any type of Scientology organization. 35 years later, my son - who has moved several times since he was a year and a half old - received a call from the C of S, asking him if I was his mother. LOVE my kid - he told them he had no idea what they were talking about, and that they had the wrong number, he never heard of me!

But the fact is, they had to pull 35 year old records from Theta Power and/or Apple School - that's the only way they would know my kids' names!

I don't think so. From a purely business standpoint, this is not unusual in marketing circles. It is a reflection that the orgs are suffering from the lack of fresh meat & $$$. Often, companies who are starving for cash flow will rely on old records & lists to market thier services on the premise that the individual may not have wanted the product then, but things might have changed where the individual might me open to purchasing the product today.

Usually, they focus on individuals who have been former clients versus someone that they tapped into via a cold call. The cult is also on a massive mailer campaign as well. A friend of mine who took a Comm Course 26 years ago recently received a telephone call & a pamphlet from the cult.

I mean that cell phone #s aren't published the way land lines often are. Have to do some digging to find 'em.

Very true, VC. There are no telephone books for cell phone numbers. "Albaby" have your sister do a google search for their names and see if there is a hit for their cell phone numbers.

True, but it's not difficult to find them. People leave paper trails (which often end up on the Internet) when they do business with a company, landlord, prospective employer, apply for credit etc. and many feel safer providing a cell phone than their landline number when doing business.

Geez!
And after 25 years of no involvement.
This is stalking.

It's not stalking, it's flat out retarded, these idiots still call me hoping I had some major head trauma that would suddenly make me willing to come to one of their events. It is a true testament to the ridiculously inefficiency and total failure of Hubbard's tech.

I'm not sure what they are thinking they will accomplish, catching someone at a weak moment and agree to come in to get worked out by them?

I know ... they still do the same with me on occasion, I used to think they were trying to deliberately "restim" me as some sort of game (and it did at one stage) ... nowadays, it just makes me laugh and shake my head at the incredible dopeyness ... I almost hope they will hassle me for the entertainment value.

The money wasted on all the "outflow" is mind boggling.

Yah, but you kinda still have to go to some extra effort to get a cell #. And some would be easier to get than others. It's a bit more involved than calling 411.

ITYIWT,

Back when we were in CofS, my husband always said that he wished they'd just stop the endless "promo" and credit that amount of money to our a/p account.

They are desperate. My spouse hasn't taken anything since the mid-90's and they still call us, despite the fact that he has moved a total of 5 times amongst 4 different states. Telling them to take your name off the list doesn't work, they want to know all about your life. If you're nice they ask all kinds of really personal questions like what is your job, where do you live, how much do you make, etc. Obviously you should not answer any of these questions. We've tried yelling and cursing at them when we got really made because they called back immediately when we said we weren't interested and were eating diner. I think next time I might try the Jerry Sienfeld trick and ask them if they would like to give me their name and home phone number so that I can call them back while they are eating dinner. :D So far my favorite has been when I asked the person just how CoS got the phone number and explained that we haven't been active in many years and we've moved and have most definitly not given it to them ourselves. I was hoping that maybe I planted a seed with that person about why they would need to investigate their own members.

I went so far as to change my name!

A silent phone number costs too much and can still turn up on unwanted lists elsewhere, so my number is listed under a further fictitious name. That way if someone gains false access to the directory, combing it will reveal no listing at all.

My suggestion for those still getting calls is do a little reverse dissemination on these callers. They really need it if they are still in there. And they would be open to it when they call because call-in is not pleasant and no-one volunteers for that job. It is a golden opportunity to reach someone trapped in a cult and let them know the real world is still there and old friends and family are waiting with open arms for the day they make their escape.

Tell them their eternity is not at stake. Tell them the tech in the freezone is standard tech if they want their bridge. Tell them they will be allowed to talk to anyone they choose and to read and listen to any information they want to. Tell them they can once again have their own thoughts and make their own observations without having to do conditions, sec checks or roll-back if they notice something wrong in CoS. Tell them there are lots of friendly people out there who will help with getting started in real life. Oh, btw, did he know that DM is a failed Cl IV prov who has now revised much of the tech that is in use in CoS? Did he know that DM's mansion at Int/Gold base cost $70 million? What is his berthing like? Everyone on the outside gets 2 libs days every week.

Don't waste that phone call!!!! You could save a life with it.

ITYIWT,

You'd like John (my husband). Even as a Scn'ist (He's still an indie Scn'ist), he always had a nice bit of skepticism going on. One thing he used to say to reges when we were still in, when they'd be like, oh, if you buy this course or whatever, you will make more money due to your increased abilities- was: "Would you guarantee that in writing?"

Funnily, they always said no.

Here's an interesting snippit from that site attached to the phone #.

Also, if you are getting buttloads of their crappy mail, go to USPS (United States Postal Services) website, go to forms, and print form 1500 (Prohibitory Order). This was originally used for unwanted porn mail, but the Supreme Court ruled it can be used against any mailer who does not stop sending you unwanted junk mail. Thousands of people are now using it to get off the Cult's mailing list.

Fill out the one page questionnaire and mail it to the New York Post Office (address on the form). You have to sign the form and attach a piece of their sh*tty mail to it. In about 2 - 3 weeks the USPS will issue a "Prohibitory Order" against them (you will receive a copy), which prohibits the cult from sending you any more mail. It has the same force as a federal court order, and if they violate it, they can be charged expensive penalties. For more info, google "usps prohibitory orders".

The best $.44 (for a postage stamp) you will ever spend.....

Just one question: Would such an order only work against that one offending entity who sent that stuff, or would work against ALL $cn entities and associates?

Mr. NB,

You will need to send in a request for each org that is sending you the offending junk mail.

It's an excellent way to send a strong message to the offending org (that has ignored your requests to be taken off their mailing list). It also helps to protect you legally, since it carries the same weight as federal law. All this for the price of a $.44 postage stamp !!!!

Also, if they violate the federal order, then you can submit a complaint (with the attached mailing as evidence), the USPS will then process that and send them a WARNING (and you will also get a copy of that). Again, all of this for the price of another $.44 postage stamp.

Any further violations will result in it being referred to the Attorney General's office ....along with $$$ penalities and prosecution. It WILL ALSO ENDANGER THEIR NON-PROFIT STATUS.

And the best for last......

Keeping a copy of all of your documentation will lay a strong foundation for charging them with harassment/stalking .....should they be stupid enough to harass or FAIR GAME you.

And all this for the cost of a $.44 postage stamp.......who knew????

I love America!!!!!

For more info google: USPS prohibitory order.

You can get the form at
http://www.usps.com/forms/_pdf/ps1500.pdf - also don't be fooled by the form talking about sexually explicit/ porno........you, the addressee, get to decide what is offensive (per the decision of the US Supreme Court), and the postmaster must process it. :)
