I remember Hubbard writing that the problem with Western Medicine is that doctors are paid for repairing bodies, so it's in their interest that people eat crap food, drink and smoke etc (not his exact words of course as he was well addicted to the Kools). Well the problem with the Volunteer Ministers is that they sit around waiting for disasters to strike so they can go and prove how nice scientologSts are.

Yes, their cynicism is apalling. But people aren't stupid. Sooner or later they'll be rumbled as the opportunists that they actually are and that their 'touch assists' are worse than useless and are no genuine alternative for proper treatment and medication.

Remember that the on-the-ground VMs themselves are (almost certainly) people of good will, just like we were. Of course they are perpetuating the con and all that, but willingly travelling to the hell that must be the Bahamas right now takes a lot of guts.

True and they are probably doing it out of their own funds while not being paid unless they are using their annual leave.
