From Wendy's (now screencapped website): "Since 2001 Wendy has worked in the international field of human rights as a negotiator and investigator. This work began after she was part of the grief counselling team at the World Trade Center Ground Zero in New York. As part of a team of Scientology Volunteer Ministers, she was awarded the Medal of Valor by the New York Fire Department for the effective and compassionate work with the rescue workers and firefighters at the site during the rescue and digging for survivors immediately after September 11th, 2001"

This has been proven to be bogus: the NY Fire Department issued no such award. Plenty of sources confirm this, but looking for a couple of more reputable news sources (rather than blogs repeating newspaper reports), unfortunately the story appears to no longer be online with the one's I've checked, but will go through the material more thoroughly on Sunday.

I remember reading some months ago that NYFD denied ever having issued such a commendation. As I remember it was a Scientologist on staff in the NYFD that "offered" this up and within a few months, it was negated by the NYFD in which they said only a member of the FD could recieve such an award.
It's amazing to me that with all their "PR expertise" they don't understand the very first rule about PR and that is "never tell a lie in PR".
It's the kiss of death in the subject matter.

That is why I am quoting and commenting all these "emails". Like I said, she's apparently public so "she only sees the Wizard of Oz and not the man behind the curtain."

This sort of "fact correction", I believe, will inspire investigators to dig further.

WOW. I just went to www.WendyHonnor.com and read her descriptions of what she claims to be able to do for anyone who would like to avail themselves of her services. It sounded like wins from the L's -- and she's only a Book I auditor??!!

Sounds like she learned well from LRH -- reel 'em in with grand promises and then --- when all is said and done, expect them not to notice that you didn't deliver what was promised (lest you be called an espee -- with expletives included).

Dr Lily Von Marcab's account is totally accurate AFAIR, (but as most of the respectable Newspaper links are down (or you have to pay to read them (I'm a cheapskate), your writing to the NYFD is a smart move, as blogs don't hold too much water with Senators.

Yeah, I wouldn't use it in a letter. I'm still waitng for a reply from the Commish's office.

I did read somewhere else that they are only given to ff's who died in the line of duty. So unless Wendy Honner picked up a new OLD body she is lying through her teeth.

I'm still finding stuff in the meantime though.

I just found an article about a firefighter who died at ground zero. He was awarded a CONGRESSIONAL Medal of Valor. Will she claim it was a congressional Medal of Valor? Most likely.

The Fire Department Medal of Valor was first issued by the FDNY in 1911 and is engraved with the City seal. Shortly after World War II, the Department began issuing this medal to the next of kin of members who had died in the line-of-duty. Since 1960, the medal has been awarded posthumously and exclusively for line of duty death.

The medal has been awarded POSTHUMOUSLY and EXCLUSIVELY for line of duty death.

You are correct. Last time I saw Wendy's website with her medal of valor claims, I spoke to many people at the FDNY.

First problem with her story is that only members of the FDNY can receive such an honor. Second no one and I mean no one has ever heard of her from rank and file to battalion chiefs. Similar results with the claims of the purif being done at ground zero.

Feel free to send the FDNY more correspondence on this.

I also worked for 7 days - during the first 10 days, at Ground Zero, after the World Trade Centre fell. I started each day at about 8am and got to bed at around 5am. I worked alongside the fireman who were digging for survivors. From time to time they would go into very heavy grief after finding a body of a mate in the rubble. Then I would audit them. Instead of being drugged and hospitalised, these fireman could keep going. Free of that trauma. And then after the clean up, we, the emergency workers, found we had the Ground Zero Cough. Damage to our lungs and bodies from the toxic air was not really known until about a year after. I was breathless on climbing stairs and often in grief. I did the Hubbard Purification Rundown, as did more than 300 fireman who could not be helped by conventional treatments. After that I was able to breathe easily and was happy again!!
