Simon Wiesenthal Center to honor Tom Cruise

MrNobody

Who needs merits?
If indeed Simon Wiesenthal centre honours Tom Cruise it's outrageous and disgusting really. Scientology completely hijacked the issue of the death camps and the Holocaust. In their idiotic LA exhibit "Psychiatry, the industry of death" they insist that it's the psychiatrists that were responsible for the gas chambers in Auschwitz.
Are the Wiesenthal people so star struck that they are willing to honour an intolerant person who believes that it's the psychiatrists that were behind the holocaust? I happen to be Jewish and some of my family members perished during the holocaust and I find it absolutely horrible that the Wiesenthal people are even talking to Tom Cruise.
I think I should initiate one of those mass emails, written in Hebrew, so that the word in Israel gets around about this event.

Hi and :welcome:

As fas as I know, it's still a bit unclear, what all this is about, since the Wiesenthal center still doesn't have an official statement on their webpage, and they still haven't responded to emails and phonecalls from several people who wanted to ask questions or express their concern. (Again: As far as I know)

It might be OK to give them another day to either confirm or deny this story.

Anyway, If you want to get active, I think a mass mailing campaign would be counterproductive, for the following reasons:

- Most people hate them (mass-mails) and very few take them serious enough to care.
- Very often they're labeled as SPAM, and sometimes are caught and deleted by automatic mail filters before a human sees them.

So here's a better idea: Write a decent Hebrew letter or email describing the situation and your concerns, and send it to the mass media in Israel. You know, newspapers, magazines, Radio and TV stations, that kinda stuff. Maybe ask some of your friends to do that too.

cheers, MrN

Handling Justice

O.K., you have put yourselves in the justice arena to judge and levy penalties on Tom Cruise.

Fair enough. Trust me when I tell you if I did not care about you, I would not be going through the effort to be sitting here at this hour when I have five hours of sleep possible before I have to wake up and start a 16 hour day. Please do not decide I am someone who deserves to be harmed attacked and suppressed because I have a different vision. That in itself is injustice.

So, you are wearing the justice hats and penalties must be levied against Tom Cruise and this Charity Organization. This event is something that requires justice. O.K.. There are scales in justice hats and prosecutor hats. This is part of the hat.

Tom Cruise is a father. Has he been a bad father or a father that dumped his parent hat?

Has he been a bad actor and let down his investors?

Has he been a drug addict or let down the members of society that have invested in him as a professional?

Has he been a bad husband, Nic stayed ten years, but we can't answer that let's be honest.

Did he stick his neck out to make a film that illustrated one man against the odds in a group with no support relying only on integrity?

Is he guilty of being in the "know" in Scientology about what the real conditions are?

Have you taken in the entire panoramic view and made just decisions about the guilty verdict and total worth and weighed all of these things and issued a fair declare as to the penalty? You are fairgaming him.

Because if you have not, you are wallowing in the same injustice you are here complaining about and that makes you the same as you reject.

Are you on higher ground? Have you raised three children, stuck your neck out in public to represent your experiences in Scientology and risen to the top of your profession? Are you in a position to judge Tom Cruise and levy penalties? Do you even know if he is in the Church since he has discovered he was secretly video taped? I don't think so.

If you have done more and risked more and are on higher ground then I would respect your whiplash on his glory for the film he made protesting mob agreement.

I guess my problem is that I just don't trust you have done all of that.

And if I am the only person on this forum with this viewpoint, well, whatever. Nobody here has walked in my shoes either. So why would you see things from my angle? And does that mean I am fairgame?

How would you feel if I showed up at your workplace because you were honest and forthright and public about your life?

How will his children be disgraced?

Do you have the scales of justice in proper order?

Be grown up and tell me why you do.

Win me over with reason.

I am easy that way.

And...stand up and handle me

But when you go to protest aren't you fairgaming someone?

I mean GET REAL!

There are solutions and I know protesting is one of them but I am not going to sit around and pretend you are not fairgaming someone.

At least admit it.

Doesn't this belong in another thread? Does it belong in any thread? Does it even belong on this board? Does it belong anywhere?

 I guess not.

You have it all wrong.

People protested the war in Iraq. Some of those were republicans. Were they fair gaming Bush because they protested on aspect of his administration? I think not.

People in Germany are now protesting against nuclear power plants. Are they fair gaming the politicians who support them (disregard the stupidity of the anti-nuclear movement in your assessment)? I think not.

This protest is solely about Tom being anything but a great humanitarian.

Great humanitarians are ahead of the curve on protecting human rights. They make sure they are well informed and act accordingly. Their actions and words are recognised years down the track as being self sacrificing, righteous and in the best interests of basic human rights.

Tom Cruise claims to believe in freedom of religion, and publicly states that scientology does not clash with other religions. Even if he hasn’t seen staff being berated for paying attention to other religions, he has done OT III, and he knows this to be a lie, but says it anyway. This shows a total lack of respect for the right of individuals to be correctly informed about the religios choices they make. This is not the actions of a great humanitarian.

Tom Cruise, whether it be through ignorance or blind faith in the greater good as defined by Hubbard, blindly follows DM and, despite many of DMs evils being brought to his attention, dismisses them out of hand. This is not the action of a great humanitarian.

Tom Cruise, viciously promotes his anti-psych views, stomping on others rights to receive medical care in the process. He claims to know the history of psychiatry, but is obviously grossly misinformed. He has ignored the volumes evidence that is contrary to his views. This is not the action of a great humanitarian.

I could go on and on.

Some may say, this is not all that important, we should just let it slide, but if we let it slide, what would be the ramifications. More people will put credence into what Tom says, and many will be worse off because of it. Not to mention the publicity stunts that DM will pull to keep the faithful faithful.

Most reasonable people can protest this event and the declaration of TC as a humanitarian without fair gaming him.

(Of course we should clarify if he really is getting this award or whether this is simply a hoax)

You are running around in a circle back to the very same link at MasterPlannersOnLine that was quoted here yesterday as being weak and containing broken or useless links (to the SWC or The Beverly Wilshire Hotel).

What next BIBB? You're gonna repost your pics of the invitation as proof positive?

Again?

I wanted to PM The Oracle, but she has PMs turned off.

The Oracle:

I have always respected your posts in the past, and we have shared PMs where each established the other's intent in a variety of posts.

I sincerely think you are missing a vital point on this issue----the one of hypocrisy.

It would be like taking a lower Thibetan town where they still throw their liquid and solid waste out the window into the street----the only reason it doesn't smell is because it freezes too quickly. Dead animals and human faeces scattered all over the street don't exactly make for an entry in the Local "Tidy Towns" contest.

Yet, in TC's case, this is axactly what is happening. He is being recognised for "humanitarian" deeds when no one can actually find any such deeds, particularly as he is now the figurehead of a proven Fascist regime. If I received an invite to this memorial dinner totally free of charge including transport and accommodation, Satan would be the over-worked Concierge getting blisters from his Ice skates, before I would even consider attending.

Tom Cruise "starred" in one good movie. He hasn't since produced one. If he stopped making these woefully inaccurate movies accompanied by ill-informed comments, that would be worthy of an Humanitarian award!

Wow!

Ok, let's go.

He is raising his children in a cult. That says a lot right there about his worth as a parent. What about the fact that the children have virtually no contact with their mother, according to her and that that is not her choice? Whose choice would that be and why, hmm? Talk about fair gaming on Nicole!

He has let down investors in the past, according to Sumner Redstone who fired him from Paramount for exactly that reason.

Drug addict? Well maybe not unless you consider the e-meter a drug like the Star does.

Bad husband? According to Nicole, he divorced her without a word of discussion simply saying "She knows why", on the brink of a ten year period, after which if he had divorced her he would have had to pay out more money according to California law. She suffered a miscarriage, according to her during that stressful period. Bad husband? You tell me.

Stick his neck out to make a movie? hahahahaha, tell me how he stuck his neck out because I don't even get this one at all. If you are talking about Valkyrie-he risked absolutely nothing, except losing money because it wasn't all that good.

Is he guilty of being in the know? Oh yes! Let's say exactly what he is doing, not just generally what CoS is doing.

Tom Cruise is complicit in slave labor and human trafficking allegations raised in the recent New Yorker article and being investigated by the FBI. Numerous witnesses over the years have attested to his involvement with use of Sea Org labor, which he is CURRENTLY STILL USING. These people are not paid by him and barely at all paid by their organization, at most $50/week for 16 hour days, often at hard labor.

Tom's involvement with this abuse goes back to the early 1990's:
http://www.suburbia.net/~...ess/940425wd.htm?FACTNet

Am I on higher ground than him? You bet your life. I am not sucking people into a soul less cult. How does "rising to the top of his profession" or anything else he is doing justify his support of slavery? That isn't even logical. He is not honest and forthright about his life; if he were he could face why he was auditioning people for the part of his wife.

I understand two points I think you are making:
-that SWC has done great work and protesting might bring them adverse publicity
-he is private citizen.

But that is just it, he isn't a private citizen. He isn't even just a random celebrity Scientologist. He is the principal propagandist for them and has personally been involved with using this slave labor force to his own ends.

As far as protesting and adverse effect on SWC, they picked him, they should be able to justify their choice to their members and the public. Any protest of him getting an award should plainly recognize that it is not an attack on their good works but on this one instance of clearly bad judgment.
