Axiom, that's a terrific post. Especially the points about DM being the ecclesiastical head and Rinder being an ED. Do you have a link to the 2007 bio page?
Well I’m glad that there is at least one person out there who has the perspicacity to appreciate my brilliance!
Firstly, apologies for I have omitted an important part of Mike Rinder’s biography. Here it is in full (omitted part in bold):
“Mike Rinder
Director,
Church of Scientology International
Mike Rinder is the Executive Director of the Church of Scientology International’s Office of Special Affairs. This division of the Church oversees corporate, legal and public relations matters and coordinates these for all Churches of Scientology around the world.
Mr. Rinder has represented the Church in editorial board meetings with major media and coordinated newspaper, magazine and television relations for the church. He has presented international briefings and seminars on Scientology.
An ordained Scientology minister, he is also a director of the Church of Scientology International.
Raised as a Scientologist in Australia, he has served as a Church staff member since 1973, and he worked directly with L. Ron Hubbard.
A senior Church official since the mid-1970s his first involvement with the Church’s external affairs came in 1980 when he took part in a series of projects designed to reorganize the legal and public affairs representation of the Church. In 1985, he was assigned responsibility for all Church legal and public affairs in the United States.
In 1987, his duties were extended to encompass responsibility for the external affairs of Scientology internationally.”
And the 'Freedom' article tries to portray him as a nobody!
The details were on this webpage:
http://www.scientology.org/en_US/news-media/biographies/index.html (* warning, goes to a CoS website - use a proxy if you are concerned about you IP address being collected *)
But surprise, surprise, Mike Rinder has been removed from the list of biographies as has Leisa Goodman, previously the Human Rights Director, CSI. Anyone know the skinny on her?
But, through the miracle of Internet archive technology (the CoS must
really hate the Internet
) we can see the original here, from Dec 2007:
http://web.archive.org/web/20071231...y.org/en_US/news-media/biographies/index.html
And, if we go back to 2004, we can see Marty Rathbun’s details here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20040206...org/en_US/news-media/biographies/rathbun.html
Quote:
“Mark Rathbun
Inspector General
Religious Technology Center
Mark Rathbun is a member of the Board and the Inspector General of Religious Technology Center, which exists to monitor and safeguard the orthodox practice of the Scientology religion. He has been a church staff member since 1978.
RTC stands apart from the Church of Scientology hierarchy as an external body which protects the religion and acts as the final arbiter of orthodoxy. At the apex of this function is RTC’s Inspector General Network, operating from seven offices in four continents.
The duties and authority of the Inspector General RTC are much like those traditionally associated with the “inspector general” title in other organizations—namely to investigate and correct departures from organizational standards and ethics, or anything else which might betray an organization’s service to its constituent public.
In 1987, Mr. Mark Rathbun became a director of the Religious Technology Center.
Mr. Mark Rathbun has also contributed to a number of major victories in church history. Working alongside Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of Board of the Religious Technology Center, he helped end the 40-year conflict between the church and the IRS, resulting in the 1993 recognition of the religious and charitable status of more than 150 Scientology churches around the world, including RTC. He has oftentimes interacted with the media on these subjects.”
So Marty has gone from being a hero of Scientology in 2004 to (apparently) single-handedly causing most of the ‘church’s’ travails in 2009. How the mighty have fallen!
I wonder if li’l Davey ever wonders if he might suffer the same fate? My guess is that he lives in constant fear that someone will get powerful enough to depose him and that’s why he is constantly looking for enemies and knocking down anyone who shows any ability before they get too big for their boots.
But this is interesting:
http://web.archive.org/web/20040206...g/en_US/news-media/biographies/miscavige.html
“David Miscavige
Chairman of the Board
Religious Technology Center
David Miscavige is Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center (RTC), a non-profit organization formed in 1982 to preserve, maintain and protect the Scientology religion.
Religious Technology Center holds the ultimate ecclesiastical authority regarding the standard and pure application of L. Ron Hubbard’s religious technologies. RTC is not part of the management structure of the Church and is not involved in its day-to-day affairs.”
RTC not part of the management structure? Hmmm, that’s the problem with constant lying, you will never be able to get your story straight.
