Re: Church of Scientology fined for felling healthy trees on event site

Excerpts:

The city fined the church about $2,000 for the illegal tree cutting. The church paid the fine Monday.

"We have reimbursed the tree bank for the value of the trees, just like any other developer would do," Pat Harney, a church spokeswoman, wrote in an email.

"As far as trees go, the Church has a record of preserving old trees and fostering new growth," Harney wrote. "The Church even made the Guinness Book of World Records for relocating and preserving the largest live oak tree, at that time — 'Sam' — which is still alive and well in the front of the new Flag Building."

Scientology/Co$ is opening a giant building.
Scientology/Co$ expects people to attend the opening of their giant building.

So they cut down trees...to accommodate a giant tent...for the invitees' use...at the opening of a giant building?
Erm, let 'em inside, no?

Regular housewarming: Hi, c'mon in! Glad you could make it! See what we've done with the place!
Scientology/Co$ housewarming: Hi, stay outside! Glad you bought place this but you don't own anything here! See the reg NOW!

Erm, let 'em inside, no?

Funny.

I would imagine that to Scn management, it seems logical to use a tent as an awning, or barrier... to ensure that people arriving don't have to see anything of the real world. There will be protesters in the vicinity, after all. Better for the cult if the remaining Scientology victims are whisked inside without getting a chance to think about any outpoints.

It's a bit like how you can never see what time of day it is while inside a casino. Except of course that Dianetics & Scientology only offers tables where everybody loses, every time.

Are there even 10,000 Scientologists that Davey can pull into CW anymore?
And he expects them to come back a week later for the IAS event?
So really, what is going on to make Davey do this?
<snip>

I don't know what's goin' on to make him do this, but the whole thing is extremely ridiculous, IMHO.

A once-in-a lifetime event in "the world's fastest growing 'religion' ", and they have a hard time to rattle up 10,000 visitors?

Bwaahahahaha. :hysterical: Just look at this:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=blasheimer+markt
- and that's just ONE annual event close to my rural hometown. This year, 300,000 visitors are expected:
http://blasheimermarkt.de/ (German site, so use online translator to verify). You'd have a hard time to locate Blasheim on a German map, but this relatively small event attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. So if these 10,000 visitors are all the cult can come up with, I'm not too worried.

And I still can't get over how the city of Clearwater is buttkissing the Scientologists, who do not spend money in the city and keep to themselves.

An event which attracts only 10.000 people, should be small-change for any decent village. I could list 100 village events of that magnitude just from the villages around me (and I've been a taxi driver, so I have not only seen 10's of thousands of people at those events, I've made some decent living from getting them there).

If the City of Clearwater had any balls at all they would have withdrawn the CoS' event permit.

In this case I don't believe it's lack of balls that is constraining the city from taking more severe action against the cult. The mayor of Clearwater responded to some readers of Tony O's blog, complaining about the arborcide committed by CoS:
http://tonyortega.org/2013/08/29/wh...its-story-on-scientology-in-harlem/#more-9610

Because of your interest in the Church of Scientology’s plans for the opening of its new “Flag Building,” I regret, as you, that two trees have been stealthily removed. The City of Clearwater was attempting to work with representatives of the Church of Scientology to ensure that any action taken would be in compliance with city codes. Unfortunately, another approach was found to be more convenient.

This disrespect for the City of Clearwater’s ordinances and environment is most troubling, and I am grateful that the city’s other institutions set a better example. As much as I would like to penalize the Church of Scientology for this action, I doubt that any court would uphold such action because the current laws of the city must be applied equally for all residents, businesses, and institutions. Consequently, the city will have to review its current codes to consider increasing the fines or applying some other penalty for future violations of the city’s tree ordinances by anyone.

Finally, please understand that the City of Clearwater remains committed to the “Tree City” program. It is unfair to state that the city is not deserving of that title because one institution cut down a tree, any more than it would be fair to take the designation away from the city because your neighbor cut down a tree without a permit.

With best wishes and warm, personal regards, I am

Sincerely,

George N. Cretekos
Mayor, City of Clearwater

Does this mean I'm finally off the mailing list?

Re: Super Power - Tampa Bay Times - City Of Clearwater Wants Details

"Clearwater Demands More Details About Dedication of Scientology Building"

Here's the link to the latest article from the Tampa Bay Times: http://www.tampabay.com/news/scient...ut-dedication-of-scientology-building/2142236

Excerpts:

CLEARWATER — City officials have given the Church of Scientology two deadlines to provide more details about the Oct. 6 dedication and grand opening of the church's massive Flag Building.

If the church doesn't comply this week, the city might not approve Scientology's request for street and sidewalk closures downtown for an event that the church says will draw up to 10,000 guests.

In a Sept. 13 email, Christopher Hubbard, chairman of the city's special events committee, informed church officials that an "incomplete" traffic plan submitted earlier this month must be updated by Wednesday.

The church must also submit a certificate of liability insurance and an updated venue site plan by Friday, he wrote.

"Failure to meet either deadline will result in the forfeiture of City approval," for the dedication, Hubbard wrote.

Church officials didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

The updated traffic plan doesn't sound too difficult to submit, but Co$/scientology/Narconon/etc have lawsuits filed against them by two large insurance carriers already, so I do wonder if they're having trouble finding an insurance company willing to write a liability policy.

If I'm not busy that day maybe I'll take a ride over to Flag and check it out. Are there any protests planned?

Re: Super Power Delay of Opening

Considering the psychological pressure on DM recently, he cannot afford to open the SP building... as there is a distinct risk it will be $cientology's biggest, historic. last-gasp flop of truly galactic proportion.. As long as he does not open the sp building, it will not have failed yet. So he has this hope to nurse his ego in addition to the next swig of scotch. Sure beats drinking alone with just scotch.....

The Underground Bunker (Tony Ortega's blog) did a very interesting story on this subject earlier today:

Why Scientology Postponed The Super Power Event: Our Archeological Dig For Answers

"We’ve talked to former high-level church executives, we’ve received tips from our inside sources, and we’ve assembled some documents that haven’t been published before. And after digging through this material, we’ve come up with some ideas about what’s going on in the mind of Scientology leader David Miscavige. This is our archeological dig of sorts, and here are the bones that we’ve dug up."

Just received this email from the fine folks at Flag.... :hysterical:

Theta without limits, Flag is the place to be.

You may have heard the newest rumors, that the Grand Opening of the SuperPower Building has been moved to a different date. There was just too much going on and too little time to prepare a worthy event. Many Cornerstone members have not completed their 130 hours of objectives as they had too many wins on their way and had to stop auditing. The wins with GAT 2 Objectives are so massive and colossal; they are almost OT levels in their own right.

Since thousands and thousands of Scientologists have made bookings for a Grand Opening Event there is a rumor COB has decided that every Scientologists who is losing money for nonrefundable tickets, or other nonrefundable travel costs, can submit those expenses to his/her registrar to receive service credits for the amounts of nonrefundable costs.

And more good news, rumors had it during the SuperPower Grand Opening event there would be a brandnew donation scale for IAS and Ideal Org statuses.

A complete review has apparently been conducted and found the pricing for statuses to be less than ideal. So this is what the rumor mill has for the new IAS status donation scale.

Status
Old
New Ideal
Lifetime $ 5,000.00 $ 7,500.00
Sponsor $ 10,000.00 $ 15,000.00
Crusader $ 25,000.00 $ 37,500.00
Patron $ 50,000.00 $ 75,000.00
Patron with Honors $ 100,000.00 $ 150,000.00
Patron Meritorious $ 250,000.00 $ 375,000.00
Silver Meritorious $ 500,000.00 $ 750,000.00
Gold Meritorious $ 1,000,000.00 $ 1,500,000.00
Platinum Meritorious $ 2,500,000.00 $ 3,750,000.00
Diamond Meritorious $ 5,000,000.00 $ 7,500,000.00
Patron Laureate $ 10,000,000.00 $ 15,000,000.00
Platinum Laureate $ 15,000,000.00 $ 22,500,000.00
Diamond Laureat $ 20,000,000.00 $ 30,000,000.00
Patron Excalibur $ 25,000,000.00 $ 37,500,000.00
Platinum Excalibur $ 30,000,000.00 $ 45,000,000.00
Diamond Excalibur $ 40,000,000.00 $ 60,000,000.00
Patron Maximus $ 50,000,000.00 $ 75,000,000.00
Patron Colossius Moronius $ 100,000,000.00 $ 150,000,000.00

This will also apply to the Ideal Org statuses. The new Ideal pricing stays the same for the sub-Humanitarian statuses.

Status
Old
New Ideal
SPONSOR $ 500.00 $ 500.00
CRUSADER $ 1,000.00 $ 1,000.00
HONOR ROLL $ 5,000.00 $ 5,000.00
CORNERSTONE $ 10,000.00 $ 10,000.00
CORNERSTONE WITH HONORS $ 20,000.00 $ 20,000.00
VANGUARD MEMBER $ 35,000.00 $ 35,000.00
BENEFACTOR $ 50,000.00 $ 50,000.00
GUARANTOR $ 75,000.00 $ 75,000.00
HUMANITARIAN $ 100,000.00 $ 150,000.00
HUMANITARIAN WITH HONORS $ 150,000.00 $ 225,000.00
SILVER HUMANITARIAN $ 250,000.00 $ 375,000.00
GOLD HUMANITARIAN $ 500,000.00 $ 750,000.00
PLATINUM HUMANITARIAN $ 750,000.00 $ 1,125,000.00
NEW CIVILIZATION BUILDER $ 1,000,000.00 $ 1,500,000.00
Again, per the rumors any statuses for the IAS of Patron Plus, Humanitarian and higher that are not paid to the new limits will become “temporary” statuses for one year and the Humanitarians and Patrons will retain the full benefit of their statuses.

Only if after one year they have not achieved the new donation amounts for their statuses will they be relegated to the next lower status they have achieved. If you have seen the reports of tremendous case gain people have achieved from getting Patron and Humanitarian status and above, they now can avail themselves the same win twice when they complete the donation gap that some may have with the new ideal scale.

The rumors becoming known and the Grand Opening being moved into the future you will have more time to make arrangements for you travel and donations that will keep you winning in the only game where everybody wins.

So spread the word far and wide to get ready for the Grand Opening Event in the near future. We will keep you updated whatever it takes.
