I do not know of any Building in the world that has created more fundraising over complete and utter FRAUD and DECEIT.

The goal was to extract large amounts of money from parishioners.

It has raised $178 million.
Is there any building in the entire USA that costs $178 million to construct ? In an undesirable small town like Clearwater ?

Fraud is defined as:

a: deceit, trickery; specifically: intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right

b: an act of deceiving or misrepresenting : trick

Today, I received ANOTHER letter asking for money. Damn, I have misplaced it, but will find it and post it.

They are still, after $178 million asking for MORE $$$$ for the same building.!!!!

There is no accounting, no accountability and no refunds...

One day, when the con game falls apart, forensic accountants will be tracking every donation check through a myriad of shell and alter-ego corporate entities.

The "Use of Proceeds" of these donations will actually be calculated and shown.

Unless I am badly mistaken, the term "constructive fraud" will become the centerpiece of the litigation or prosecution vs. the SuperPower donation scam.

constructive fraud n. when the circumstances show that someone's actions gives him/her an unfair advantage over another by unfair means (lying or not telling a buyer about defects in a product, for example), the court may decide from the methods used and the result that it should treat the situation as if there was actual fraud even if all the technical elements of fraud have not been proven

For example, it might not be "fraud" in the technical legal sense if the money was used for something other than the building, because the contract leaves that possibility open. But it would be constructive fraud if the good faith understanding and expectation of the donor is based on many other representations that clearly point to the money being used to "complete the SuperPower building". In that case, the scam would not be absolved simply because there was some deceptively ambiguous legal language deftly woven into the contract.

In all likelihood, the media worldwide will run lurid headlines as each revelation surfaces of how the money was actually spent.

Lawyers will argue about it, but ultimately the good faith understanding of how the money was expected to be spent, based on COS representations in those "briefings" and promo pieces (and the name of the fund itself!) will gradually tighten the noose around the neck of cult con men.

At some point early in the game, some of the "loyal officers" will not feel so loyal and they will jump ship (for reasons perhaps both noble and not) and make a deal for themselves, testifying against the cult.

Cult members will shrivel in horror at what was really happening and how they are still paying on mortgages taken to provide money for senior cult leader(s) to blow on several hundred thousand dollar birthday parties for Cruise or tens of millions on PIs to stalk former parishioners who might blow the whistle.

It is a time bomb waiting to explode. There is just no escaping the fact that one day the fraud, inurement and thievery will out. It's not if. It's just when.
