I caught the last 7 mins or so. I must say that the acting all around in the capture scene was pretty bad. And the rest following it was equally amateurish, except the end kissing scene between the two regulars of the show.

I have no idea how the rest of it was but the two scenes I saw related to anything about a cult appeared to be nothing like Scientology. The bit about the two lovers in the background 'needing lots of deprogramming' ... 'but maybe not', upon seeing that they became more amorous, almost seemed to be saying ' life goes on as normal. NOT

Perhaps someone else can give a nicer and more full review

It was more dramatic than accurate. Girls became drugged sex objects. Men became worker slaves. But they did have a truth/lie detector you had to wear during interrogation.

I haven't watched the show before. Was going to turn it off when I noticed a poster with cult name in red, oranges, and black. Think it was fire. Books arranged neatly around as if for sale. Tables lined up in class rooms with computers and Google Glasses instead of E-Meters. People looking like they were auditing and doing TR's and repeating things over. This is in the first opening minutes and I realized I was getting those slightly hysterical giggles. The folks looked at me like I was a bit screwy. They weren't seeing what I was seeing having never been in. Then they compared it to $cientology and mentioned their cult was as letigious. Similarities were; the overhead shots looked like Gold, they had a room with chairs and cultists and one guy repeatedly slapping another of them, the others backing the leader, dunking them in a pool instead of overboarding, much security, two agents and a member trying to escape.

It did break down when the girls and a leader drugged one of the agents and we're going to have group sex with her. Hey it's TV.

When it was similar it was pretty close. When it was dissimilar it was pretty far off. All in all it was close to home and when not it was somewhat entertaining.

If I remember correctly, Charles Manson, had a girl in his "cult family"....go down (blow job) a male, in the cult, for hours on end....to "flatten" any societal mores they had about doing this.....

According to "Helter Skelter"

Good catch! Have read that a few times over the years and completely missed the Manson connection. :duh: Those scenes seemed far of the path to me before your comment. Now they seem like the edged out dirt along the side of the path. :wink2: Time to get the audio edition of "Helter Skelter".

I just saw the episode and your recap was spot on! I had to laugh when they started knocking each other around in that room. When I first turned it on I wasn't interested. But, then a counselor kept telling her prey to 'go deeper..DEEPER' and pick up all bits of memory in order to attain freedom...

The RPF parody was a chuckle...where the security came and ushered the guy away to be interrogated by one of the cult's tyrants.

I also thought the fact that there was a guy from the Department of Justice there to keep an eye on their investigation and not them storm the compound was a parallel to the governments unwillingness to deal with the church.

Oh - I found a link!
