Leah Remini appears as a guest on the Ellen show, to be broadcast on Monday, September 9, 2013. After the broadcast, video clip(s) of the episode will likely be available on the YouTube channel, "The Ellen Show" - at this link: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheEllenShow

Here are two short clips from the YouTube channel above, made available to view prior to the pre-taped, full broadcast:

[If you play either clip backwards, you can hear Ms. Remini ask, "Where's Shelly?" -- per my housemate, an admitted rumor monger. Let's all disregard his nonsense, hmmm?]

Anyone care to guess what Ellen DeGeneres asks re: Co$/scientology...and what Leah Remini says in response? Think we'll learn anything new about her 'defection'? :confused2:

It looks like it's going to be good! It will be funny; they'll laugh about Scientology, but it will include some serious stuff too IF this report below is accurate, which I believe IS :)

From TV Buzz, an MSN blog....

"Ellen" Season 11 premiere week kicks off Monday, Sept. 9 with "The Talk" alum Leah Remini. The funny woman got serious and opened up about her split from Scientology and how it has affected her family. "Ellen" hasn't released a preview of that dishy conversation but has dropped a few fun sneak peeks of Remini Remini trying out a few "As Seen On TV" products with DeGeneres and talking "DWTS."

Thanks OP, this was rather nice. There was something about the whole Ellen saying she thinks she got kicked out of Scientology that just threw me into a spasm of giggles. Also, the whole thing at the end of the clip where Ellen says she's her friend etc, sounded so freaking sincere, that I just got the idea that Ellen might have taken time to read more about the cult. I mean, I know Ellen is an entertainer and such, but somehow, that arrested me. I have to wonder if Tom Cruise will be on her show again, and if so, if the banter will be quite the same...

There were (as usual) some good comments on Tony's blog. I particularly liked this one:

ELLEN: Now, that is a thing, when you leave the church they can’t talk to you or you can’t talk to them or something?

LEAH: Correct.

ELLEN: Wow.

Her work there was done.

Re: bolded portion ^^^^.

You've raised an excellent point, Ms. Clami, and I thank you for doing so.

It's reasonable to think segment producers/staff @ Ellen did a bit of research for this interview. How much research or how deeply it went -- who knows -- but given The Underground Bunker's well-earned reputation + increased Google ranking, it's not beyond the pale to think that site was viewed a time or two.

We had a mini viewing party here and, while we waited for the show to begin, the discussion turned to the future -- Leah Remini's book tour -- and what interview format would best suit her...and the general public...and the ex-scio/critic/anti-scio/indie/FZer communities.

Of course, we don't know what's going to be included in the book, but it seems as if she'll write about how her entire family left Co$/scientology, how they continue to support one another's decision to do so, and how they grew stronger as a result. In order to 'sell' that type of book to the buying public, the publisher might well ask family members to participate in certain interviews. There are a few potentially 'dramatic' moments if such were to take place like...

Can Leah Remini's mom ably explain to the general public that she isn't to be 'blamed' for 'ruining' the lives of her two daughters -- that she'd intended instead to better all of their lives?

Can the daughters educate the general public about how they felt / what they thought when originally introduced to Co$/scientology and how those feelings/thoughts changed later?

What's most obvious to me is that a 5 or 10 minute interview with Leah Remini, whether alone or with a family member or two, during such a book promotion tour will do a disservice to all primarily because the subject matter, Co$/scientology, cannot be explained in 5 or 10 minutes. An hour-long show, hosted by Anderson Cooper or Piers Morgan for example, would be a better alternative to the morning/day time shows, but those shows often have a 'counterpoint' guest to 'stir the pot' until everything becomes distorted.

I'd very much like to see Leah Remini and her family members interviewed along with other Ex-scientologists, joined by Tony Ortega or Lawrence Wright or Paulette Cooper, conducted in an educational setting, filmed and released prior to the near-obligatory 5-minute per tv show book tour 'blitz'. And I'd like the book publisher to put up the $$ to make this happen, too.

We'll see.

Has Leah or anyone in her family said that she actually is going to write a book, or was it just put out as a possibility?

In the original news/gossip reports, the intent to write a book was mentioned but I've not seen any conclusive evidence since that time that such a book is actually 'in the works'.

I posted as I did based on those original reports -- and now, just a moment before reading your question, I reviewed quite a few comments on Mr. Ortega's blog which cast legitimate doubts on a tell-all book's appearance any time soon.

My bad, DB. :duh:

If there's no book on the horizon, and the only public appearances Leah Remini intends to make are as a competitor on Dancing With The Stars*, then I'm left to wonder whether or not she ever intends to speak up/out about the abusive policies/practices committed by Co$/scientology...and what, if anything, prevents her from doing so at this time.

JB. (*Friends/family/colleagues will all vote for her on this show :happydance: as it's the only means to show our collective support until/unless another method to do so appears.)

For anybody who knows Leah, I'd like to just put it out, that I would do about anything to have tea (or probably some alcoholic bev from what she's said) with her.

I get this feeling we'd really freaking hit it off... and I could info the fuck out of her what it was like to be a lowly bitch in the ranks, but I get the feeling the first few hours would just be getting a tad wasted and talking about nothing... I could be wrong:confused2:

Oh, but if it did happen... I'm having Al Michaels flashbacks: "Do you believe in miracles?"...

Yeah, I think the book idea has been becoming more and more 'real' in the minds of sci-cult watchers and then when we
are all in sufficent agreement it will appear in the MEST universe.

I don't think Leah will be as tight lipped as some other big name leavers have been in the past, but nor will she rush into any big expose scenes.
I think she will just feel her way and develop the art of saying something significant with a few well chosen words as she did in that show. She may get more talkative if she feels it is right. On the opposite side is that she does not want to be pushed into forced silence just for the benefit of the cult, so I think she will say something ....here and there.

I hope you're right, DB!

To her credit, Leah Remini contacted the police to make inquiry as to the whereabouts of Shelly Miscavige -- I haven't read about JT flying his plane over the wilds of California leading any such search effort -- so even if she doesn't do anything else to highlight the many questionable practices of Co$/scientology, it's more than nothing.

I read the other day that Paul Haggis said he doesn't foresee himself ever speaking out again about Co$/scientology and, while I certainly don't blame him for making that decision, I did feel somewhat disheartened especially because his manner/style is valuable to refute the 'bitter apostate' construct repeatedly spewed by Puow/Miscavige. Mr. Haggis' low-key, deliberative manner would have contrasted well with Ms. Remini's energetic, 'no bs allowed' persona -- and I'd hoped to see them in a public appearance. (Okay, I still hope it happens.)

As far as book -

I'd tend to guess, that even though 'things' are easier now than ever to come out and criticize Scn - I think that one would still want to totally cover all potential legal aspects. Not just Scn vs. author, but author vs. US law which is just as mangled as Scn (and possibly in bed with). That could take some time and I cannot imagine Leah has been delving into that... yet?!? I'm hoping she is just having a great time coming back into the groove, and which is probably still rather a foreign concept. I certainly don't know as my 'celebrity years' ended long ago (laughs) but it's gotta be friggin complex!

I'd be taking time (whether I could under my own thoughts or whatever everyone may be advising, suggesting, pushing for and fantasizing about, bla, bla. It could be quite confusing and time to chill would be the best thing.

I have my own hopes for what it could effect - but would be much more happy about a well thought thru, comprehensive account that leaves few nails still out of the coffin. A real slice and not just a quick-sell money maker 'while the irons still hot'. Those seem to lose their impact like everything else in Hollyweird...don't want that!!

So, I'm sure many 'little things' (understatement) would be just beginning to be talked about before any real, legit 'announcement' of what we'd all love to hear (read).

But that's just me!!
