I hadn't heard much about this book, which apparently is now being made into a movie. The Wikipedia entry mentions SJ and Scientology and got my cognitive dissonance alarm buzzing like an angry cockroach.

Ultimately, Ronson raises the question of where the line can be drawn between sanity, insanity, and eccentricity. He suggests that we should not judge individuals only by their "maddest edges", or necessarily assume that 'normal' society is as rational as some might like to think; on the other hand, real and serious problems that people can have should not be dismissed because it suits an ideology (such as Scientology).

The Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy (SSSP) published a statement regarding the book stating that certain interviews in it were exaggerated or fictionalised and that they "think that Ronson’s book trivializes a serious personality disorder and its measurement, which is not helpful to those who have the disorder or to their unfortunate victims".

I loved the book. And Jon makes a visit to St.Hill.
Ronson approaches everything creatively.
Whoever wrote that review, did not appreciate that and probably missed the purpose of the book.

Well, I'm looking forward to the movie. What a catch to have Scarlett Johansson staring in it. I'm wondering if her experience with Scientology and that crazy audition which turned out to be the cult checking her out as a potential wife for Tom Cruise, had anything to do with the decision to be a part of this.

In any event, it should be interesting.

Travolta was creeping on Johansson at the Oscars last night. HLN was reporting that the internet has a meme of him being worse than the face-hugging critter from ALIEN. Too bad they missed including the back story of her attempted recruitment by Cruise Co.
