This is going to be interesting. I've been waiting to see if they're going to give a teaser and show maybe one photo of the exhibit installation, but it seems like not. The value of the surprise will be used, it seems. From HuffPo:
Up next at The Showroom is The Shroud of Scientology, also by Edwards. Much mystery surrounds the upcoming exhibit. We will just have to wait until Saturday, August 8th to discover what it has to offer.

The article about the "PR Gallery": http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-gascot/caca-the-worlds-first-pr-_b_7834890.html

Artist Daniel Edwards did a very interesting installation of his art, with Bill Cosby as the subject: http://www.cacanet.com/bill-cosby---rodman-edwards.html

Here's where I'm waiting and watching for the Shroud of Scientology update; the CACA Gallery website: http://www.cacanet.com/

I'm betting this is going to be a good one! ;) Is this the first high-profile art statement about the cult? As far as I know, it is. Based in St. Petersburg, the Cory Allen Contemporary Art Gallery is just 1.8 miles from the cult bunker there -- just a jaunt up 1st Ave. South, take a turn, and there you are! Hey, is this what "improving conditions" means? This exhibit will be one not to miss, even if just viewing from the comfort of your computer.

We'll see on 8/8. Hey, Hubbard would like that!

Tom Cruise's New Naked Scientology Shroud Has Gigantic Testicles and an Equally Impressive Penis

A naked shroud of the Mission: Impossible star was recently unveiled to celebrate his 25th anniversary with the Church of Scientology. Artist Daniel Edwards assisted Cory Allen Contemporary Art in St. Petersburg, Fla. to create the unusual likeness of the movie star for a "pop-up Church of Scientology" near the religion's headquarters in Clearwater.

Urgent phone call for Mr Tom Cruise ...

... Poe's Law lost it's shroud and wants it back.

'Pop-up Church of Scientology’ Salutes Tom Cruise’s 25th Anniversary, Unveils Nude Shroud of Actor

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (July 29, 2015) – A nude shroud of Tom Cruise will be unveiled as a tribute to the actor’s 25th anniversary with the Church of Scientology. The silver anniversary celebration reaffirming his commitment will take place at a ‘pop-up Church of Scientology’ near its Clearwater headquarters as part of a larger exhibit of the actor. Commissioned curator and artist Daniel Edwards assisted Cory Allen Contemporary Art with exhibition arrangements that are scheduled for the month of August.

Like the famed Shroud of Turin, the Shroud of Scientology is rectangular, measuring approximately 14 ft. × 3 ft. It features a silverish image of a naked Tom Cruise, front and back view, with immaculately groomed genitalia on display, and his hands over the Scientology cross placed on his chest. The two views are aligned along the mid-plane of the body with both views of the head nearly meeting at the middle of the cloth. The cloth is Poplin, a strong fabric, softly textured, flame and wrinkle-resistant with a beautiful draping quality, used since the 15th century.

Along with the shroud, the Church of Scientology Silver Anniversary Medal for Tom Cruise will be displayed, of which images are now being released. “The medal has not yet been presented to Tom Cruise,” said Cory Allen.

“Radiocarbon dating will never rule out the Shroud of Scientology’s authenticity. It exists as a document of Tom Cruise’s faith in Scientology - a photo negative of the radiance of his soul. It gives evidence for future generations that Tom Cruise not only belonged to Scientology, but saved it from obscurity,” said Daniel Edwards.

Though the City of St. Petersburg has not issued a special use permit, plans are the temporary church location will remain for the duration of the exhibition of the shroud. Other works of the actor and his connection to Scientology are expected to be on display. “It may be a rare occasion for the public to take part in the church’s celebration and get a peek at a small portion of what their imagined vast art collection is speculated to look like,” said Cory Allen. No word on whether or not the Church of Scientology will sanction the location beyond the present schedule.

“We are optimistic the controversy that surrounds the church will not keep visitors away. We want to assure people that this public event is a celebration of Tom Cruise and his 25 years of commitment, not a recruiting opportunity for The Church of Scientology,” said Cory Allen.

The ‘Pop-up Church of Scientology’ featuring the “Shroud of Scientology” will open to the public at Cory Allen Contemporary Art’s The Showroom, located in the Warehouse Arts District in St. Petersburg, FL, on August 8, 2015. A media conference is scheduled prior to the exhibit on August 6, 2015, from 12:00-4:00PM. For more information, contact Cory Allen at 323-393-3115 or visit www.cacanet.com.

My understanding of a shroud is a cloth to bury someone in.

When I looked it up I got this: Shroud usually refers to an item, such as a cloth, that covers or protects some other object. The term is most often used in reference to burial sheets, mound shroud, grave clothes, winding-cloths or winding-sheets, such as the famous Shroud of Turin or Tachrichim (burial shrouds) that Jews are dressed in for burial. Traditionally, mound shrouds are made of white cotton, wool or linen, though any material can be used so long as it is made of natural fibre.

Let's hope they use the shroud to bury Scientology and all of it's nonsense.

“The medal has not yet been presented to Tom Cruise,” said Cory Allen.

I guess the medals are made to resemble two dimes and a nickel. $.25 to celebrate twenty five years in the cult? Or is the big one a quarter?

Every time I look at the shroud I crack up laughing. I won’t ever say "Tom is such a dick" again - without laughing. I used to laugh, a little, when I said "Tom is such a dick" - but now, I want to fall all over the floor hysterically. I realise this is a bit childish of me, but hey it's Friday here. Not entirely sure I can get away with being this childish just because it's Friday but I'll live with the consequences. :eyeroll:

The radiance of Tom's soul, on show for all the world to see. Reduced to (fill in your own favorite words here)______________.

There are layers and layers of interpretations possible. Immortalised as being "the one" who helped keep the cult of scientology from obscurity, clutching the scientology cross, with a really over-emphasised genitalia. Personally I think it is brilliant.
