It's been a sad year for losing spiritual teachers. In December Bo Lozoff, one of the leading lights of the prison ashram movement and a biofuel campaigner and singer / songwriter, died in a motorbike crash in Hawaii; the occultist / metaphysician Stuart Wilde died in May this year; and now I've just discovered that Toni Packer, founder of the Springfield Centre in New York State, died in August.
Toni started off as a Zen teacher but in later years worked more as a non-duality teacher, who eschewed the traditional student-teacher hierarchy and focused instead on everyone becoming a mutually supporting community, with members focusing on what was happening at all times and open to each others' questions and insights.
Another clearly wonderful person I'll never get to meet. Life sucks sometimes. Anyway, her memorial service is next Saturday;
