You so cruelty to me. I m so sorry I hurt you, I sincerely and honestly alpologise. Now I gonna slap you. Do you love me?

With a thread title like that, could it be a simple case of a self-fulfilling prophecy?

From WIKI:

A self-fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that directly or indirectly causes itself to become true, by the very terms of the prophecy itself, due to positive feedback between belief and behavior. Although examples of such prophecies can be found in literature as far back as ancient Greece and ancient India, it is 20th-century sociologistRobert K. Merton who is credited with coining the expression "self-fulfilling prophecy" and formalizing its structure and consequences. In his book Social Theory and Social Structure, Merton defines self-fulfilling prophecy in the following terms: e.g. when Roxanna falsely believes her marriage will fail, her fears of such failure actually cause the marriage to fail.

The self-fulfilling prophecy is, in the beginning, a false definition of the situation evoking a new behaviour which makes the original false conception come 'true'. This specious validity of the self-fulfilling prophecy perpetuates a reign of error. For the prophet will cite the actual course of events as proof that he was right from the very beginning.

In other words, a positive or negative prophecy, strongly held belief, or delusion—declared as truth when it is actually false—may sufficiently influence people so that their reactions ultimately fulfill the once-false prophecy.

Good bye Emma.

After all we've talked about in chat, for you to answer like this, I don't think i have any patience for you any more.

Please ban me or whatever you are going to do to me.

I'm done with you.

Alanzo

Aww c'mon Alanzo. Can't you take a little ribbing? You used to not be so serious.

Here is a lovely knocker to cheer you up:

Alanzo: "Putting something mysterious in this thread. The reader should be wondering about this mysterious Chat. Oh please wait, this thread is mysterious and cruel. I have made a great job here."

Please ban me or whatever you are going to do to me.

Alanzo: "Oh no, I don't want to do this consequence, please Emma, say, "we need You, we love You. I didn't want to hurt You. We had a mysterious Chat." Fall on the knees, than I will stay here. Than I can start a next thread with new drama inside."

I'm done with you.

Alanzo: "Please Emma give me some love. Say you need me here on ESMB. It is her part now, not mine. She has to apologize."

In all seriousness this thread has been good ... we've thrashed some things out.

I assumed when Al came back that this stuff had already been sorted, behind the scenes ... but it hadn't been (obviously).

Most of us have the ability to be "cruel" but that does not mean we lose our other "nicer" abilities, feelings and functions.

ESMB is not cruel and never has been, we have had our moments but they have always resolved eventually and hopefully this issue (from a few years ago) will resolve now too ...

I'll not be pretending to be an angel just because a few people have decided that this board should now go in that direction exclusively ... I'm out of the cult now and I'll be the one to decide who I really am on any given day (and sometimes any given minute).

I really hope things can just move on again now and we can stop being dragged back into the past.

Na, I am a little bit angry. Because of the Drama Alanzo makes and the time I have shared with it. So much to do in the fight against Co$ and he is just "angry" of things that happened one year ago.

Somebody wants to check my angriness out with me behind the szenes... Alanzo maybe. Maybe in one year.

Edit: People are angry about how Karen got introduced... I am angry about how much credit Alanzo has here...

Yeah, although I had a sort of 'straw that broke the camel's back' moment, some posters did have positive things happen for them in the thread.

Awww... I thought ITYIWT wrote a great ending.

Some stuff really was sorted out - and the thread was reasonably mild (compared to some of the flamers I've seen in the past, here and elsewhere...)

Lots of people were hurt back then. Some left and came back, some never returned, some stayed all the way through - but hardly any of us who were here weren't hurt at the time. I was. HH was. Emma was. Alanzo was. Karen was.... it's a long list, I'd better stop here. My point is, very few people got through it unscathed.

But it was going on everywhere - Facebook, Indy sites, WWP... there was infighting just about anywhere you'd look at an ex site during that time. ESMB got caught up in it, too - but ESMB wasn't the CAUSE of it, either.

Emma made a bold move when she invited and introduced Karen and Mike. The introduction hit some as a celebrity sort of thing, but she clearly stated at the time and afterwards that she didn't mean it that way. She wanted to include people she liked and who were fighting the abuses, even if they were still scns (but out of the Cult of Scamontology scns). It was an unpopular idea on the board at the time, and Karen's announcement style and Mike's self-boasting style ticked off a few people. (Mike Laws doesn't really post that way anymore)

IMHO, in retrospect, inviting them was a VERY WISE move. Who would know that by 2013, we'd all be working together?

ESMB has become a more integrated Internet site, but maybe its good to learn from our history.

I was pretty outspoken about not liking Marty a year or two ago. Now, well, :confused2: I sure like Monique, and I like the changes I've seen from Marty and I'm willing to give him a fair go.

People change. We grow up, I guess.

And that's the beauty of exscn and the ex network in general - we can CHANGE! We can roll with the tide, we can learn and grow, we can, and have, become better - because it's NOT Scientology. We can forgive. We can apologise. We can learn. We can admit our mistakes. IT's NOT fixed into a time like 1950. We KNOW we're not perfect, so we try that much harder.

Because we've healed so much since leaving the cult and cult-think.

Nobody wants to see a repeat of what happened then. If that was Alanzo's point, it's a good point. If it wasn't, well, I think it was worth a little revisit to that ugly time so we can remember those mistakes and how we overcame them and not repeat the same things again.

I agree. I've just read the last 10 pages or so of this thread and what a drama it was.

I suppose the next instalment will be when Alanzo comes back and tells everyone about the "wrongs" he suffered in this thread and then the whole thing starts again.

This whole "Alanzo" thing is definitely not a good advert for Scientology communication tech. "I said", "you said", "I didn't mean that, I meant .." blah blah blah.

Rant over.

Why?

It went to shit after he bawed about being "handled". It was deliberate. He wanted to provoke & he did. He got what he wanted - a reason to say "Poor widdle me".

Anyway - he asked for an opinion and I gave him one. If he couldn't handle the truth he shouldn't have asked.
