When you reported that your son went back to the cult, my heart sank... I guess you must have truly reached him after all.

ps: Did ya know that that beautiful movie began as a dream someone had. The dream inspired them to write a 4000 word short story called ""The Greatest Gift". They failed to find any publisher for it...but instead of burying their dream, they made a 20 page booklet and sent it out friends as a Christmas present. I suggest to avoid by all means - for the time being - any contact with any current cult members (who will exploit the condition of mental restlessness of the escapee), cult apologists (who will aid and abet the cult), and even former members (that might unwillingly trigger mental control machinery).

Physical recovery from sleep deprivation, substandard nourishment and urgent disease comes next; if needed, a physician should be consulted.

After physical recovery: in spite of the use of physical force, the majority of ties that keep a person imprisoned in the cult are mental ones. After taking the decision to leave the group, those ties (installed beliefs and - especially - phobias) are still there and - in order to avoid relapse, must be removed.

This should be done carefully and in a non-confrontational manner.
