:mindblow: I answered the call to help Mark, snail mailed a check. Indicated in the lower left "gift".

TODAY I called Pizza Hut for lunch (about 11:25A),(hi temp today was single digits/lots of lunch time orders today) told it would be long delivery time.

After an hour & 45 min I called back asking about my food order. Turns out "they" were waiting for me to call back, seems computer ordering system went into maint/update mode seconds before my order was entered. Hence it was "lost" along with phone #.

BOTTOM LINE? My food order was free. Granted the check sent to Mark wasn't that large, but *return* was about 12% more than what I sent Mark.

Whether life is a tossup of random numbers, tightly scripted destiny, all *freewill*, or a mix of all 3, it's gotta make you wonder don't it?

Are you saying you pulled this pizza in?

(no, I'm not laughing at love and charity...I just thought of this pulling it in thing. We often refer to it with bad stuff, hey, what about when unexpected gifts and freebies happen?)

I sent my 2nd donation the other day. It wasn't as much as I would have liked to send but it was what I afford, and it was accepted with humility and much appreciation by Mark and family. I hope others will find my comment encouraging to send a few bucks his way.

Easy to do by paypal: [email protected]

:begging::help2: MARK aka Warrior. I got both PM & e-mail from Mark yesterday, was thanked for the help. And I will assume by extention thanks all others who have helped, (even WITH the computer age it takes TIME to write all those *thank you* communications to each contributor). From what I can gather, so far, he's "almost" caught up, at least he's put some distance on the wolves nipping at his heel's. It has freed up time to devote to the job search hat.

His, from the heart thanks, was/is enough for me to assure Mark that until the emergency has passed, I will keep sending at least something each month, till he tells me otherwise.

I don't know Mark, I've never met him, but I can certainly 'relate' to the place he finds himself. ie: rock & a hard place. Any of you who are like me, who has been out of $co/$O for years and years KNOW that it dosen't require $cientology to have a sick vindictive employer or much more than the statement of an opinion to find yourself out the door and on your ass when it comes to employment. How and why the situation is the situation in not the point. The POINT is "What are WE going to do to help remedy the situation, what are WE going to do to help a friend in need?" NUFF SAID? good, start!

Thanks everybody!

Mark is not out of the woods yet.
My posse and I antied up for $150 for Feb.

Mark is looking into a couple of job possibilities and I have someone who can do a video for Mark to help him get a good job.

Here is a pic of Warrior (love his screen-name) and his one year old granddaughter.

Yet another thing I like about Mark- he's very family oriented.

I have sent two contributions to him and will send at least one more soon. Maybe two more, in future, if possible.

Dang, this pic says it all. Creating future generations of $cn-free kids does not have a price tag limit.
At least in my book.

Warrior isn't alone in experiencing financial struggles. Almost everyone was effected by the recession, but evidently, baby boomers were hit hardest of all, according to this article from the New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/03/b...-were-hardest-hit-by-recession.html?hpw&_r=1&

In Hard Economy for All Ages, Older Isn’t Better ... It’s Brutal By CATHERINE RAMPELL

snip~ "In the current listless economy, every generation has a claim to having been most injured. But the Labor Department’s latest jobs snapshot and other recent data reports present a strong case for crowning baby boomers as the greatest victims of the recession and its grim aftermath.

These Americans in their 50s and early 60s — those near retirement age who do not yet have access to Medicare and Social Security — have lost the most earnings power of any age group, with their household incomes 10 percent below what they made when the recovery began three years ago, according to Sentier Research, a data analysis company.

Their retirement savings and home values fell sharply at the worst possible time: just before they needed to cash out. They are supporting both aged parents and unemployed young-adult children, earning them the inauspicious nickname “Generation Squeeze.”

New research suggests that they may die sooner, because their health, income security and mental well-being were battered by recession at a crucial time in their lives. A recent study by economists at Wellesley College found that people who lost their jobs in the few years before becoming eligible for Social Security lost up to three years from their life expectancy, largely because they no longer had access to affordable health care.

“If I break my wrist, I lose my house,” said Susan Zimmerman, 62, a freelance writer in Cleveland, of the distress that a medical emergency would wreak upon her finances and her quality of life. None of the three part-time jobs she has cobbled together pay benefits, and she says she is counting the days until she becomes eligible for Medicare.

In the meantime, Ms. Zimmerman has fashioned her own regimen of home remedies — including eating blue cheese instead of taking penicillin and consuming plenty of orange juice, red wine, coffee and whatever else the latest longevity studies recommend — to maintain her health, which she must do if she wants to continue paying the bills.

“I will probably be working until I’m 100,” she said.

As common as that sentiment is, the job market has been especially unkind to older workers. snip~

...partly because older workers are more likely to have been laid off from industries that are downsizing, like manufacturing. Compared with the rest of the population, older people are also more likely to own their own homes and be less mobile than renters, who can move to new job markets.

Older workers are more likely to have a disability of some sort, perhaps limiting the range of jobs that offer realistic choices. They may also be less inclined, at least initially, to take jobs that pay far less than their old positions.

Displaced boomers also believe they are victims of age discrimination, because employers can easily find a young, energetic worker who will accept lower pay and who can potentially stick around for decades rather than a few years." snip~

I'm not sharing this to depress anybody, but just as a reality check that times really are rough out there, and you can have done everything right in your life and still be facing financial insecurity...and having a hard time finding and keeping meaningful, well paying employment with benefits these days. It's not just Warrior who is dealing with this, it's a lot of people! Sad...

So let's all be as compassionate and generous as we can with each other, okay?

Heh everybody~

Sorry I haven't posted but I have been out of town on three different occasions recently and did not check the sites while I was gone.

Thank you for the pms about Warrior (Mark) and to all who have sent what they can!

Here's the update: Short videos still have to be made soon for work and as a critic and that is based on scheduling, of course.
Mark has been sent some job leads and has been jumping on those quickly so hopefully some work will come up soon.

Mark has enough to get him through the next two weeks and then it will be hitting the fan again.

We are uncomfortable asking for more at this point but I will keep posting updates for a while so you know what is going on. Please give if you want to. No pressure~ just thanks.

Last Tuesday I finished Jenna M. Hill's book. Wow!... so powerful and poignant! Later that day I called Mark to see how he was doing. We chatted for about 45 mins. It was nice to hear his voice. It reminded me of the first time we met in Clearwater in the late 1990s. We both had post-$cn issues with children and the layers of cult problems for families, which thankfully has taken a brighter direction for both of us respectfully in the past decade.

I'll continue to help/support Warrior in any way I can.

THe economy has been very rough on many very nice people. Things were difficult in some cases, previously, but the subprime meltdown and subsequent effect of the trickle down economy just made it so much tougher.

I hope that things get better for my friends who are suffering through this and for everyone else who is experiencing difficulties.
