What are your views on psychiatry?

My Sister has been prescribed it. She is 90 years old. She is taking a panacea of prescribed drugs, and is getting more and more 'zombied out'. I don't think that she even knows it. Last time I saw her, she didn't know who I was until I showed her some pics of us together with our Mother. Then there was a spark of recognition. The Doctors tell me that it's Dementia, and there prolly is that, but she is taking maybe 10 different prescription meds. It seems to be common with the elderly that they are prescribed any and everything that their Insurance will pay for.

I'm sorry your sister's in such a state at this point in her life; too, it's heartening to learn the photos helped a bit, if only for a moment. To witness a loved one in this condition can be, I think, nearly as difficult as for the afflicted person.

This is one of those times where I do so wish a well from which to draw perfect words of comfort existed - to offer you solace and support. Until such a well is made available, please know my best thoughts are with you, your sister, and your family.
