Very Sad....... many a artist has been lost to the cult. No one deserves the RPF, especially the lack of appropriate medical care. I will forward condolences to his family and anyone else wanting to should do as well.

I found that his his sister posted his obituary and as well confirmed his death and wrote about his work on a particular album in a blog comment. Here they are:

EVES Michael. Died in Los Angeles on February 21, 2009, aged 67 years

My brother Mike EVES (not Mike EVANS as listed on your download file)
arranged all the tracks on the Freedon on the Wallaby LP and produced
the record. Sadly Mike died in Los Angeles on 21st February. Messages
from friends would be welcome and passed to his son Paul, send to

Dave de Hugard "Freedom on the Wallaby" 1970

Another LP previously posted by me on Time has Told me.
Dave de Hugard is a wonderful old gentleman who has been a regular
folk performer for over forty years and still regularly attends folk
festivals in Australia. This was his first LP originally issued in
1970 under the Music for Pleasure label. It was re-issued (as an LP)
under the Larriken label in 1983. I believe that this is one of the
very best Australian folk music albums ever issued and it is
astonishing that it has never been re-released on CD considering that
Dave is still so popular. The download file contains notes about the
musicians involved and the cover graphic.

For those who would like to hear a more modern performance by this
fine musician his latest CD is available - see his webpage here to
purchase "Songs of the Wallaby Track" another fine album.

Do we know if his son Paul is still in Scientology? I was hesitant to ask his sister that.

Thank you for telling us, Markus. I'm saddened to hear of his passing but happy to hear that he's now free.

I knew Mike in the Sydney Folk scene in the 70s and during his early scientology career.

In the old days he used to run "ARC Concerts" at the Sydney Org in Lee Street. They were always a hoot and excellent entertainment. Mike played a wonderful button accordion and sang in a gravelly bushman's voice. Peggy Daroesman worked the stage with Mike in those days and was another favourite performer at these gigs. Just thinking of these fun times in the early days always brings a smile to anyone who was there.

Mike put a lot of fun into these public events and gave some of the most entertaining "Introduction To Scientology" lectures I'd ever heard.

Some time later he was my boss when he was posted as CO FOLO ANZO. He did a good job of running the FOLO under very difficult conditions.

I saw Mike several times at Flag in the latter part of his scientology career, he was doing Audio Visual for Gold and working on the Flag Events. He'd changed, of course, from the loveable larrikin of yesteryear but after about 10 minutes of conversation the real Mike started shining through and I remembered why I'd always loved and respected him so much.

He was a good guy who always tried to do the best he could with what he had.

I wish him well and the bright and happy future he deserves.

Mike was on the RPF in 2007

Mike was physically in the RPF space in PAC in early 2007. He wasn't running around doing RPF work, but he would just pace around or lie down in his bunk. He looked AWFUL. I hope to God he didn't die in that awful, disgusting environment. If he did, I hope everyone in the SO who had anything to do with his "handling" all experience the karma they richly deserve (or at least wake up to the fact that they have participated in an oppressive cult and GTFO).

I am wondering how could Paul possibly get communications from old friends of Mike relayed via the sister.

Do you think the sister is ignorant of what is going on there or do you think Paul could actually be allowed to get mail from outsiders? Just wondering.
