Winnie, the White House probably doesn't give a damn. If it did we probably wouldn't now be in the position of having to petition the government to do something about it.
But through various types of actions that we can take as citizens it IS possible to put enough pressure on our government to do what is in the public interest. This could be the beginning of a massive campaign to put pressure on our government to do the right thing. It is one of our basic rights to petition our government and imo it is one of our duties as well. If we see something wrong in our country and then do nothing about it then nothing may ever happen. The government is obviously not perfect and we cannot depend on them to automatically do the right thing, but sometimes with enough pressure applied it can make an enormous difference.
If 5000 signatures on this petition doesn't do it than maybe a million will. And if the White House doesn't act then we can petition our congressional reps to do something about it. If the WH and or Justice Dept has conflicts of interest preventing them from acting then we can bypass them and go to congress.
There are millions of people around the country who would support us if they were presented with a petition and some basic information as concerns the CoS.
Yes, it's one of your rights - may as well use it. Not everyone has it that's for sure.
