"Whole Track" and Television

Once upon a time, many years ago, when the illusion of scientology was falling apart in my mind, I had began to desperately work out, logically, all of the phenomnon that I had expwerienced while being a full fledged "clam". I figured that if I could arrive at some kind of logical answer to the many phenomena of scientology, whilst of course not knowing what I know today, then I could leave completely and totally, or stay, for the duration. :confused2:

One of the questions I had had was: "If scientology is false and the "whole track" mental image pictures were an illusion, then why did so many of us have an unlimted supply of mental images and "pictures"? The answer I arrived at, quite unscientifically yet convincing in it's application (sooooooo scientology, that) was that we have a huge wharehouse of mental images from the millions we have viewed on television and even in the movies we've seen. What an endless store of images! They can even be combined and meshed to give new versions and "realities". :confused2:

This conclusion was brought about while book auditing a friend of mine back in the 70's. He was having trouble with the "incident" he was 'running" that involved being a cowboy in battle on horses, being killed by Indians. When I asked him for "earlier similars", he hesitated, kept frowning and started to look quite angry and then opened his eyes. He looked (glared) right at me and said, "This scientology shit is bullshit! I've just been "recalling" and "running" a cowboy movie I saw when I was a kid!" He got up and stormed out of the auditing room and NEVER came back.

I had wondered, back then, exactly how many "movies" and distorted and twisted recollections of t.v. shows were being run worldwide by all the good, dedicated clams. Now, even the indies may be caught in this trap. Who knows. Methinks a good area for investigation! :confused2:

This is, in part, why I never moved up the "bridge to total freedom"; I had too many reservations and was labelled a "squirrel", a "db" and a multi-"pts" source. Lucky me. I had, by accident or subconcious design, arranged my own termination within the cult, by the cult. Of course that didn't stop the then Guardian's Office from asking me to carry out illegal activities for the "common good of clearing the planet'.

Fucking scientology.

142 views and no replies? I must be pissing in the wind on this one. :confused2:

Maybe its just too frightening an idea for some to accept.

As it happens, I agree with the premise and would point at that around the time L Ron Hubbard wrote his Xenu creation-myth, the UFO thing was pretty much reaching its zenith. I've read two stories about how the Xenu story came about - one, it was a Hubbard creation and, two, it was part of a drug-addled rant by his son Nibs. Either way, popular culture including television, movies, the print-media and the comic books were full of UFO stuff. Just like your friend running on old movie from his childhood, Xenu could well have been the same.

Oh great Zorg, I think it's a good question, one that's brought me out of lurking. I think it touches a nerve. So what was I looking at in all those hours of can holding? I can say that at no time looking at the hole track did I look at anything I couldn't have read in Sci Fi books, seen on films or imagined. Not one moment was I looking at something impossible to understand.

Humans do have an amazing ability to imagine. Our eye sight is really very poor, so we do a lot of dot joining, and for that we are programmed to use imagination.

I think most audited pictures are similar to dreams. Think about the Xenu world of 50's clothes and aeroplanes, marvel comix. Think of star trek and the way all civilizations across the universes talk American. No where in the History of Man is a culture that feels as alien as most non western current Earth cultures.

If the pictures were real there would be things you'd see that would completely amaze you. So I think that in auditing your 'file clerk' pulls pictures out of this life time and imagination, not past lives.

One thing I have observed is that when you are electrified and can't believe that you saw something, your hackles are on end and you're sweating cold sweat...you didn't. When you are out in the dark and feel that a ghost is watching you, look at where you think it is and you'll find a couple of blobs in the dark that you have dot joined into being the figure of a headless centurion.

Perhaps the reason that many people have looked at your thread and not responded is simply that it makes them feel like twats for continuing to hold the cans for so long.

Oh and may I say that pissing in the wind can be quite a nice experience as long as you are facing the right way, otherwise it's wet and smelly. Oh yes and please make sure there's no electric fences!:duh:

Well you see, what you have to do is work your way through the so-called "MIPs" from movies and books until you arrive at pure unadulterated hallucinations. Been there, done that. Oh well.

Hey, how 'bout them Cowgirls?

Well, the one thing I guess it *does* point out as you say is that he did have pictures of earlier track.

Whether he knew what he was supposed to be running or didn't understand the command is a different story

Good job Zorgie!

The day you know you're out is the day you admit to yourself that all the shit you were looking at was just shit you made up.

Is that so different from the OT 8 EP? :omg:

I have no idea about that - that's the only 100k I didn't spend in Scientology!!

(but I did spend all the others :duh:)

I'm guessing you got toasted pretty bad for not handling that origination.

Pity he didn't continue with auditing. Seems to me that realizing one has been running false track would be a good starting point to making some actual gains.

I couldn't find anything much on the back track in my first few sessions, so my auditor asked me to run imaginary incidents as a way to open things up, which is a standard approach in such situations. It seemed odd at the time but my perceptions improved and we eventually got into some real stuff.

When Dianetics started not many people had a history of watching lots of movies and TV was very new (we didn't even get TV until 1956 in Australia) so I don't really see how this theory would hold up in general.

Are you kidding? Going to the movies was the one thing people in the US could afford to do - attendance during the 1940s was averaging 90 million per week, dropping off to around 50 million in 1951 - there was also a huge radio audience, not to mention a vast pulp-fiction market, the very same which Hubbard wrote for. There was enough cheap westerns, war movies, UFO stories, and detective fiction to fill everyone's imagination a thousand times over.

How do you KNOW that? ......

aside from wishful thinking.

I've always been very skeptical of any claims to recall past lives. Hypnotism or just plain fantasy seems like a perfectly adequate explanation for the experience of such recall, and a heck of a lot simpler than whatever kind of mechanism it would take for memory to persist through physical death.

People have been dreaming and daydreaming since long before TV. But it might well be true that people who grew up watching TV and movies have richer stocks of vivid and dramatic clips in unconscious memory.

Films and television certainly have a huge impact on our imagination, and this has torpedoed more than a few of the people who lay claim to past lives.

All too often, people's past lives were confined to the interesting bits of history. Nobody was a fisherman on an island somewhere in the pacific, and reports that nothing interesting happened during their lifetime. Statistically, that suggests something is up. We can't all have been Cleopatra's consorts and handmaidens, can we?

I also enjoy the way that fiction becomes 'fact' when the deluded talk about their past lives. We get the Cecil B. DeMille version of ancient Rome. We get the "druid who was present when Stonehenge was built" (out by more than a thousand years, there...) and we get "Piltdown Man was sometimes guilty of eating one's wife and other somewhat illogical activities" from LRH in 'A History of Man'.

It's all a bit embarrassing, really.

And just plain dreams...My God folks don't your dreams have wilder machines than the action in any film ever made?

Do you not time travel within a dream and accept the most bizzare things as routine in a dream?

And PCs? My God how many Carol Lombards have I audited? And how many of LRHs past life 2Ds? And how many SO members that were with LRH way back when?

And for those who REALLY into it.....how many times were YOU in the incident your PC was running? Fess up!

C'mon. Guided imagery explains it all.

I distinctly remember giving Cleopatra quite the tongue-lashing!:whistling:

Oh yes, I think I saw that porn also! What she did with that asp later in the flick was amazing! :omg:

I think The Great Zorg has an excellent point. And even though we may have dreams that seem to go beyond what we've seen of fact and fiction in all types of media that is just showing our own mind's creativity.

To me THIS is why Sea Org members aren't audited very much on the actual Grade Chart. This is why instead, SO member get sec checking.

Every time I had to go earlier similar to a past life incident, I ALWAYS felt like I was making shit up or just had a wild imagination. But, from conditioning and agreement, I was led to believe that if it read on the E-Meter it must be true, especially if the meter ends up F/Ning after talking about it.

Later, when I was trying to route out of the Sea Org, my program was taking months and months and months. The sec checking I was receiving was FPRD style as well, so there was a lot of "whole track" being delved into. This is where I said "fuck it" and literally started making shit up. Even when I knew I was making it all up and essentially BSing the Auditor, the meter didn't react any differently. In fact, I started moving through the sec checks even faster. F/Ning all over the place.

I even told outright lies, "I'm totally handled. I'd like to stay in the SO, get back on post and into production!" Big smile. Full of shit. "You're needle is floating. Well done." A couple months later, I was gone.

That experience for me handled any consideration I had about the Tech. Yeah, I was one of those guys who threw out the bath water, baby and all.
