Update from Facebook, Tuesday:

David Love writes:

Email just in from Adam: [EXCERPT]>>> "So far there hasn't been any change in her health. I'm going in tomorrow(Wed) to talk with the doctor about the results of an MRI scan completed Sunday night." There is some more about his Dad visiting the hospital and ignoring his Son, Adam.....as per Cult policy, but not nice stuff to post here. Sooo SAD

Sad news.. exscn member Denise Byrne, Adam Holland's mom, has passed away. :bigcry:

Mark Tordai posted toSPs 'r' US
From Adam Holland just now:

In memory of Denise Byrne-Holland

Denise Byrne-Holland passed away the evening of Friday April 26th, with myself and my sister Laura at her bedside. Also present were many of her good friends, including her family doctor of 17 years.

Although the expert and caring staff at St Michael's Hospital did everything they could, it was determined that Denise would not likely regain consciousness. The trauma caused by a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) came very quickly and the damage was irreversible.

Funeral arrangements are being made for later in the week. Please ask for the details if you wish to attend.

If anyone wants to attend.

From adam:

The service for Denise will be held on Thursday May 2nd, at 3:30pm. Afterward there will be a small reception next door at a Houselink building. The address of the funeral home is below.

For anyone unable to attend the service, the chapel will allow guests to pay respects between 2:30pm and 3:00pm the same day.

I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to Houselink staff and support workers for helping to arrange this service. My sister and I have been shaken by our loss and the Houselink staff have been with us every step along the way.

Thank you so much for your support. I had no idea about the outpouring of support on facebook, until I saw captions from it. I have even received sympathy cards from other countries -- people Denise knew. It really means a lot to see kind words from so many people.

I also have something to share that didn't fit in at the funeral service. I suppose here is the best place of any. Denise's computer was left on after the emergency and I was curious about the moments leading up to her emergency. Looking at the browser's history, it was a typical morning, she was browsing facebook and reading email. It was a record of just how fast this happened. Based on the delay in opening new web pages, it seems that she only had a few minutes knowing something was wrong.

On April 18th at 8:07am, Denise closed all her browser windows and opened just one, leaving it for us to discover. It was the Wikipedia article on Xenu. I have a feeling that she knew something serious was happening to her, and sitting at her computer, she had a chance to communicate something, anything. She chose to leave us all with that warning, an infamous symbol of all the other falsehoods in scientology. Since she never recovered, this was her final act. Without a doubt, I can say that Denise was devoted to exposing the organization, right up to the very end. I'll never forget that.

-Adam

P.S. thanks for the memorial piece, in the RIP thread as seen here:

Oh, Adam, thanks so much for sharing this! She was among the most humble and dedicated of the warriors in Canada because of that devotion.
