Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973
How about Egalitarian (adj), "no false restrictions placed on voting". You could take it further, Egalitarian. "Why vote, do as you see fit."? Another one, Borders (noun), "A meaningless imaginary line between an imaginary subdivision of Egalitarians". 'Wisdom, "innate knowledge possessed equally by all at birth". These are all taken from a Progressive point a view.
New topic, Two days ago, I received another magazine from CoS having to do with LRH's birthday event. This one was a world class magazine, glossy, thick and very professionally done. The mag paints a picture that CoS is immersed in a huge growth and expansion, sweeping all across the globe. Now instead of 47X growth over just a few years ago, they are talking about a growth rate of about 65X. If I didn't know things were different and read this magazine, I would be convinced that their expansion was enormous.
Not only that but on every page, stats were sprinkled around the text, all stats showing rapid growth.
STRAIGHT UP AND VERTICAL
You have to give DM his due. He is always at cause point on Stats, never at effect point. If Stats are down, get rid of the Stat itself and replace it with a Stat that can be made to go up!!
Here is a typical Stat claim, the magazine makes, "At L.A. Org, every introductory service is in full play resulting in a new completion every two hours." - Who knows what is being counted here. Maybe some new person walks through the Book Store every two hours. No one knows what is being tabulated. Here are some more of the new Stats.
Total Grade Chart - Completions increased by 14 X
LA Org reached the size of Old Saint Hill two times over-and so achieved the singular status of Model Ideal Saint Hill Size Org. - Who knows what this means. It could have to do with the size of their building being bigger or perhaps something to do with money. Say back in 1962, Saint Hill Org did $5000 pounds sterling a week which I believe was around $12,500 in 1962 dollars. Maybe today's L.A. Org is doing $175,000 a week, 14 times as much but that is in inflated dollars. The 1962 dollar might be worth 7 times today's dollar so they may be only doing two times what old Saint Hill was doing and not 14 X.
255 new people are welcomed into LA Org every day. What does this mean. Maybe they have phone staff who calls 255 people a day and invites them to come in.
610 public are moving up the Bridge on average every single week. The newly created stat here is "moving up the bridge" What does that mean. If you read a policy letter or a few lines in a book, that might constitute "moving up the bridge". Maybe you do TR's for a few minutes and that moves you up the Bridge. Who knows?
In just one month LA expanded org delivery by eleven times. - Expanded delivery is undefined, maybe that is why I started receiving their mail again, they decided to mail to SP's to get their delivery stats up, who knows?
Here is a very cute Stat, probably the most vague and possibly misleading of all of them! LA Org has demonstrated that a lifetime career as a Scientology staff member is a manifest reality- at 150% the comparable employment in the workaday world.
Let's say that the LA Org has 100 staff members and let's say that the workaday world has 100 million employees and they increase 2 million to 102,000,000, a gain of 2%. Now to increase 150% as much as the workaday world, L.A Org staff would have to increase their staff by 5%. You see that 5% is 150% more than 2%. Therefore, to increase 150% more than the workaday world, the LA Org would only have to increase from 100 staff to 105 staff!!!
And so it goes, page after page of these extremely nebulous stats. At least LRH went by the 27 Gross Divisional Statistics and each of those stats have meat on them. When those stats crashed, it seems that DM just stopped revealing them and instead manufactured stats which he could control. He seems to have designed these "stats" so that he doesn't have to lie about them. It is true, LA Org's staff grows from 100 to 105 and that is 150% more than the workaday world grew, even though they put on 2 million jobs to his 5. He is still telling the truth statistically!
He shows talent and resourcefulness in some ways by concocting these nebulous stats and presenting them as evidence of huge growth at a time when the 27 GDSes are crashing. If only he would put his talent and resourcefulness to work to benefit the lives of his staff and parishioners, instead of for just Promo reasons, he might achieve true growth and do something worthwhile for society but it isn't going to happen so don't hold your breath.

Nah. If you're not doing cryptic crosswords then you're still in junior league. Here are a few from the paper to show you how they work:
1. Egalitarian, like a teacher not teaching. Answer: classless (get it? Egalitarian has everyone equal and so they are classless, ditto a teacher without a class is not teaching.)
OK an easy one:
2. A bit of a rotter, a scallywag, a knave. ( "A bit of" is your clue. rotter, a scallywag, = rascal)
Easy peasy.
It takes a different method of thinking - one that Mbird hates. Associative thinking, not his favoured "logic".
