Maria, I'm concerned that you're up long past your bedtime and will be tired tomorrow. All the stuff you've mentioned here will keep till tomorrow if it even matters at all.

<snip>. I'm more woried about Maria Cuervo, man, she was an extremely good poster really causing my stats to rise and now she is acting weird .

To make it even worse, I find out that our stats are not real and they are overstated because Hakers are trying to hack our thread. When it rains, it pours, bad new from all departments. Is this all really worth it?

I just don't believe it my star poster and most loyal poster leaving here to go hang out with "Trouble". Murhpy's law in action, the story of my life.

More than anything I've ever read on this thread, now, the light bulb comes on.

I thank Lakey for that honest post.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

I wasn't talking about beats per second, I was talking about periodic harmonic disturbances.

Now that I've added the video to my previous post, you can probably see and hear what I mean. :)

I quit using that method to tune years ago. My piano tuner friend proved to me that it doesn't work all the time. The reason is the upper partials go out of tune. This I know you know as it is the fact behind tempering. On a guitar, the upper partials go out of tune at different rates on each string. So when you tune to eliminate the beats like that, it depends on the unpredictable out of tuneness of a given string's nature (given string length, diameter and tension) and it is why even though you SHOULD be in tune, sometimes a given chord has a clam in certain positions but not others. I have forgotten how to post externals into a message (due to having been indisposed for a few years) but look for Scott Grove's tuning video on YouTube. He shows the out of tuneness of the harmonics and then shows the chromatic tuner method I told you about. It honestly blew my mind how that method produces such fullness and corrects intonation problems assuming the frets and bridge are properly placed. My aural piano tuner buddy also showed me that, but he had an aural solution that worked equally well. My hearing is pretty good, but I have bad ear days, so the aural method was not good for me. I had settled for Korg tune for years which was good enough for bar bands until I came across that Scott Grove video a couple weeks ago.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Thanks Maria, you do a great job on this thread, you have been a great asset for me and the thread in general. The whole misunderstanding started when I gave you two compliments and you rejected them. I came to some sort of conclusion about why you rejected my compliments and based on that conclusion, which turned out to be wrong, I basically "went off the deep end" and did a bunch of silly posting to get even with you.

I drowned my sorrows in a bottle of Merlot. I don't drink much so a full bottle, made my act silly. I had a little hanover this morning so I am eating a hearty breaifast eggs with a side of meat, some toast, lightly buttered, and a strong cup of Columbian coffee.

It's normal for people to disagree and it doesn't mean they hate you or are your enemy. Likewise, while I was suprised at how you were yelling at me, once I realized you were drunk as a skunk it all made sense. Of course if you want to argue with me when you are sober that is ok too. I love to argue. Doing so is part of the philosophical training. I'd make a bad lawyer though. Lawyers and philosophers both argue but philosophers argue about things that do not exist, abstract concepts, whereas lawyers argue over facts. You tend to argue over facts. I tend to argue over abstractions. LOL. Of course facts are dodgy as well. Sometimes we argue over facts that don't exist. Hm.

I would be bored being a lawyer and arguing over facts. The methods of argument are similar though....

If you were to read back on my defenses of Carmelo you would see the entire Socratic dialectic in action. It is quite subtle since it involves letting the other party fall on their own sword while drinking a margarita on the sidelines. Cheers.

My post wasn't meant as an incitement to violence Maria (and perhaps at this point, since we are discussing alchohol and hangovers, I should point out that your surname is of course the name of a very famous spirit, the only type of alchoholic drink that didn't give me an instant migraine headache when I imbibed it or, even after consuming what would be considered a fairly large amount, cause me to turn into an incoherent or violent individual). I just loved Tequila!

Now where was I. Oh yes, pissed in the UK means intoxicated by alchohol, but pissed off means annoyed or angry. What Jagger had consumed the night Watts punched him, or how much, I'm afraid I have no idea.

One anecdote relates that during the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Jagger phoned Watts' hotel room in the middle of the night asking "Where's my drummer?". Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: "Don't ever call me your drummer again. You're my fucking singer!" Link

Piss...................Urine
Pissed................Drunk
Piss Off..............Go away
Pissed Off...........Angry
Taking The Piss....Ridiculing somebody

AAMOF my only claim to fame is I went to the same school as Charlie Watts.

I love that you went to the same school. What a great story.

Thank you for the explanation of piss and pissed. Just think of all the pissibilities.....

Note to self: Stay well away from this thread in future, it's waaay too weird (and a little bit creepy).

:banme:

Weird is better than fake. At least the thread is authentic. Further, most who post here regularly most likely are not only weird but have creaky knees too.

Now that [having creaky knees] is really creepy. (At least I thought so when I was 15.)

Knowing one knows is not a philosophical stance in academia. And even viewed as naive. Sorry for the wrinkle. Am I understanding your response??

In philosophy what is prized is knowing one does NOT know. My post really does live in THAT Socratic truth.

Maybe we are talking past each other slightly.

You said:-

Not sure exactly what you mean but it looks like a denigration of
word clearing. So I gave some examples of how clearing MU's and not U's
can be useful.

Also I put in the example of how words meanings can change and this
I believe only example of Hubbard validating this.

An interesting aspect is that it illustrates that Hubbard took his tech very
seriously and was looking after its continuation far into the future.

I agree 100%.

But I am not yet sure if this person is to blame for all our
'ills.'

Do you really think Carmelo RUNS CoS and can just write a note?

Do you grok that I am a bit confused? I thought this person was out and now he is the head of CoS?
I thought DM only allowed himself to be the god?

Oh and I hope I am altruistic...but unfortunately, I am so far from dogmatic so I have to question myself and hope I am doing right. And I have not really made friends here too much so mostly just attacked and treated rudely. I have no idea who is who here on this forum! So how am I to just "DO" the right thing as if I was a robot.

Carmelo's a good friend. He is not part of CO$. He is happy to be friends with
many people. I don't know Bob Adams or much about him. What is a fact is that
most who came to CO$ were good idealistic people. Anons and most here would
like to rescue such people.

As for being the STAR POSTER.

[video=youtube;Mb3iPP-tHdA]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb3iPP-tHdA[/video]

We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray

[Chorus]
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

She said, there is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well've been closed

[Chorus]
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

She said, I'm home on shore leave,
Though in truth we were at sea
So I took her by the looking glass
And forced her to agree
Saying, you must be the mermaid
Who took neptune for a ride.
But she smiled at me so sadly
That my anger straightway died

[Chorus]
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

If music be the food of love
Then laughter is it's queen
And likewise if behind is in front
Then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
Seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
And attacked the ocean bed

[Chorus]
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale

Fair enough.

But not sure why I have to judge someone that way....I mean, Suri is related to Tom and she is not a Scientologist. So why is Carmelo, because he is friends with a still-in suddenly become evil? Aren't some of us here grieving because they have family in? And so are we saying that being 'connected' to them indicates we approve? By default? And if Scn is for disconnection, should we be? These are my valid questions.

I want to know, because there are those who have family in Scientology, or friends, and they don't want to abandon those people. They want to be there for those people.

So how is it that renouncing people who are brainwashed helps them on their journey?

And of course I am full of it myself since I have no idea what Carmelo's exact relation is to Bob or Bob's exact state of mind either so how on earth can I be sure of my opinions? Sometimes there are things only our pillow knows, while our head is resting on it.

Anyway, since I have only really met a few people here I have to continue to speak out of my ass while I figure out who the pretty asses are to kiss.....

You being a Professor and all I shouldn't have to explain the obvious ramifications of a $cientologist (Carmelo-C02) who just happens to hang out here, and just happens to be friends with an OSA trained v.p. of $cientology. Apply some common sense, you don't want to share nor divulge anything about yourself to $cientologists, much less $cientologists connected to OSA. You are right Terril, I missed your point....

And if I am not mistaken, your point is well made.

And...it means that DM has an out, you just pinpointed it! The way new tech not written by Hubbard is OK.
Because indeed, the meaning of words or concepts in the tech can change, as the planet changes.

I think this new policy should be made explicit. This will allow FZ bridges to be added to the entire canon of Scn techs and thus no longer will there be
a reason for anyone to be considered squirrel.

Good post, Strativarius, all of your points make sense and I thank you for making them.

You're welcome.

As regards ITYIWT, I used to kid her that her icon reminds me of the 1950's movie "The Bad Seed" staring a young child star name Patty McCormick, I believe. Basically, she did not like me much because I was asserting pretty strongly that some of Hubbard's tech still had workability.

ITYIWT and I share a common bond, namely a mutual love of a certain variety of cheesecake.

I must confess Lakey that sometimes I've felt that you are taking this stuff a little too seriously, but that could be because [a] you've had a few too many or I'm just an arrogant bastard.

You do seem to have a rare talent for winding people up though mate. Practically my first experience of this MB was reading the very frank exchange of views you were having with Auditor's Toad at the time I joined. Don't see so much of him here on ESMB these days.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

I talked to my barber today. I said by all rights Keef Richards should be dead by now, He said well he and Ron Woods almost died. Keef fell out of a coconut tree somewhere in Fiji the South Pacific. Crazy guys

I had never heard that before. Here is what I found: from May 1 2006.
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-e...ssed-after-fall-from-coconut-tree-476340.html

As a man who once admitted treating his body as a "human chemical laboratory", the veteran rocker Keith Richards has grown accustomed to the occasional unscheduled hospital visit. But in the latest scrape, spectacular even by his standards, he needed a brain scan after falling out of a coconut tree.

"Keef", as the Rolling Stone guitarist is lovingly known, was holidaying at the luxurious Club Resort on Wakaya, Fiji, when he and fellow Stone Ronnie Wood decided to explore the same tree. The consequences were spectacular. Half-way up Richards - reformed heroin addict and one-time hellraiser - slipped and fell to the ground, severely banging his head in the process.

The concussed musician, who will need no reminding that his band's hits have included "Tumbling Dice" and "Fool to Cry", seems to have made light of the scrape and, according to some reports, proceeded to engage in a high-speed session on his jet-ski. But two days later, still feeling the effects, he was flown from the resort to Nausori airport near Suva, the capital of Fiji, where he was treated at a private hospital.

He was transferred to Ascot hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, where he has remained with his wife. According to some reports yesterday, he was still there, awaiting test results.

The accident happened last week, shortly after the Stones had played Wellington as part of their Bigger Bang world tour, which moves to Europe next month. He and his wife, Patti Hansen, had retreated to the Fijian island with their close friends Wood and his wife, Jo.

The Stones' management was reluctant to discuss details of the incident. "Following treatment locally and as a precautionary measure he flew to a hospital accompanied by his wife, Patti, for observation," said a spokeswoman for the musician, who added that she did not know how the accident happened.

New Zealand's Sunday Star Times reported that Richards was being treated in a hospital in Auckland and that he was conscious, mobile and had not undergone surgery. "I've been told it is probably just something mild but we can't yet rule out that it is not something more serious," a friend reportedly said. "It all depends on the outcome of the tests."

Richards' fellow residents had sympathy for him. "Picking coconuts is quite common on the island," said one. "It's just that Keith had a bit of an accident coming down."

Richards, 62, is no stranger to unexpected injuries. In 1998, the band had to delay a tour after he fell off a ladder while trying to retrieve a book in the library of his Connecticut mansion. He damaged his ribs and chest and there were even fears he had punctured a lung when he fell while stretching amid the library's floor-to-ceiling shelves. His agent said he "had not been drinking".

Wood, who appears to have escaped without injury from their tree adventure, will sympathise. He had to be rescued at sea off Brazil last month after a fire broke out on a motor cruiser which was taking him sightseeing. The American leg of the band's Bridges To Babylon tour was similarly disrupted after Jagger suffered a throat infection.

Stones fans must wait to hear whether Richards' injury will affect the European leg of the tour, which opens at Barcelona's Olympic stadium and will take in 34 dates. The tour is on course to break box-office records and has taken Richards' estimated annual earnings up to £180m on the back of the exceptional receipts.

The accompanying album has won a Grammy. The Stones will be playing four concerts in the UK including Twickenham in west London on 20 August. They will also play in Sheffield and Glasgow, finishing off at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. There are plans to insert hundreds of seats into the stadium set so fans can be on stage during the performance.

Recent comments from Richards suggested that the band will continue to live exuberantly on tour. "Retire? I can't spell the word," the guitar legend said recently. "I'd play on in a wheelchair. This is what we do. Otherwise, what's life all about?"

That is TRUE: I am an existentialist and it was perceptive of you to spot that. Thank you.

At least, if by trying to be an authentic human being I am royally f!#ked I will have something to post about here on the forum other than recipes and discussions of physics.

And, people (at least the guys) are more interested in that sort of thing than pretty much anything else.

I am not sure CoS would go after me though. I am not a famous ex and I'm not planning a book, a video, or a movie. Plus I don't use the tech at all. And I am not an activist. I care more about art. Don't you think they would find a juicier target? Hm. You know, even if I did do a video, it would be most fun, since I am a philosopher for the discussion to be philosophical. I.e., a debate between myself and someone who supports the tech. The only rule is no ad hominems and no interrupting. A timer going. Each side gets two minutes. Then the other side responds. Only substantive arguments allowed. No emotional attacks or appeals allowed. Whoever uses those loses instantly.

Unfortunately for the Scientology opponent I believe I'd always win (even if the other person didn't know I won) simply because I have a toolbox of philosophical arguments that are not only extensive but that the other party would be unaware even existed. And that doesn't include NLP which both sides would agree not to use since it's basically a form of cheating.

Now that I typed that though....hm....I realize such a debate would be boring on my end since the other party would be in a duel but not know the swordplay, thus would miss all my cues. It's more fun to fight with someone who knows what their opponent is doing and has the swordplay down! Because when both parties are having FUN and feeling exhilarated arguing -- !!! yes it is exhilarating! -- the arguments get so damn subtle and so many light bulbs go off. And of course neither side has hard feelings since it's all a bit of gymnastics by which to LEARN about one's own ideas and those of the other.

OK nix the video. It would not be a fair fight for the Scientologist and of course I am a fair fighter.

Do not take from this that I am puffed up thinking I am such a great arguer. If you took all the philosophers alive right now I am probably average to poor and they'd logically wrap rings around me. But if my debate partner was a Scientologist, that would be different. They would not fare very well.

Anyway, if anything, it seems to me that my overall lightness of being means I am not as much on their radar as the big names around the forum and in recent news. The only thing about me that could drive them nuts, if they even care, is that I can pick their tech apart, that sentence by sentence I could do that, and on top of that, devise 10 bridges for each of their one. But, as of a couple of weeks ago I haven't even bothered to do that, the picking apart of the tech. Stopped doing it *as much* because I don't want to offend some FZ and Indies here, like Terril. I don't agree with them but I don't need to tear them down either.

Each person can figure out on their own what is what, in their own time. I was just lucky that I was declared, attacked, dismissed in 1983-4 by both AAC and CoS, via snail mail disconnections and so on....and that means that I am in a time warp. I never learned any FZ stuff. I have no idea what is out there and I don't have a desire to learn it. Due to the number of years passing I have also forgotten most of Scientology but for the fact that being on this forum has caused me to remember quite a bit over the last few months.

I left and have never done FZ, have never done Indie, don't know what happened after I left, didn't even know who DM was until I started coming here, don't have any Scientology friends (in fact recently disconnected from two Scientologists - they bored me.) As for esmb I found myself attacked by exes and really that makes me wonder if I am a masochist or why I care about it or this place at all since it's more fun to take a walk than have complete strangers yell at me for using the word 'discuss'. Luckily I get to talk to folks on Apollo and usually it's fair sailing. But regardless of weather.....

So thank you for the admonitions. I have to choose my friends on the basis of direct experience of their actions. People who attack me and who provide zero generosity to me can't possibly qualify for me as good actors. I appreciate you took the time to at least talk to me instead of attack.

It is only in the last two days actually that anyone has even talked to me here (outside of the regular Apollos).

Take care.

Keef is an amazing freak of nature. But wealthy drug addicts often live to advanced ages if they don't OD. Witness Burroughs for example.

The thing about old Keef (and Lennon and Clapton too for that matter) is that he was not proper junkie. Proper junkies do all the tying up shit and stick the works in a vein (if they can find one), but Richards, Lennon and Clapton (I was disappointed to learn) were just 'snorters' with smack, and any fool can do that, even me.

Then take ex scientologist William Burroughs, now he was a proper junkie. :coolwink:

Very interesting post, I like the discussion regarding the similarities and differences between lawyers and philosophers. True, facts sometimes don't exist but isn't that also true of abstractions? I would love to argue with you, It would be a lot of fun and I would give it my best shot but if I was a gambling man I would put my money on you. You've got guys such as Plato and Socrates on your side, I simply can't match those kinds of people on your team's bench.
