Lurkers

A poster mentioned there might be a number of you out there. That is likely true. I understand why others don't move forward and join the board. I have less direct involvement than most here but due to a certain situation and the willingness of the COS to do strange things I feel I have to stay anonymous. They likely know who I am anyway (I am a very small fish) but won't take action unless I step out and make it necessary. This is a lunatic way of doing things, but in some ways the COS still holds cards.

My feeling is if you can feel comfortable simply stating your views with no history, please feel free to do so. Everyone here understands what you are up against. But numbers tend to win in the long haul and understanding is closest to love. And we love you!

Lurkers unite!

Couldn't agree more. I lurked for a while before very recently joining as there were a few things I felt I had to have in place first, but I look at it now and think I probably should've just joined and started posting. We all need to be part of a community, especially if you've lived in the close-knit community most long-time $cientologists have. It's nice to be able to say and do things for the fun of it again, and that's worth a lot more than hours of Hubbardization.:coolwink:

I also lurked for a time before joining. I just wasn't sure I had anything to contribute to this site and I was afraid of fair gaming. But then, I just said "screw it" and joined. I've helped others get their money back, I've referred people here, I've hooked up with old friends and have made some new friends. It's been a tremendous help in my recovery to be here. And now I'm here less often since I feel mostly recovered. But I still like to browse the threads to see if I have anything to contribute. And I love the funny doggies and kitties. I need a good laugh every day. :p

I too lurked for quite awhile before jumping in. I wasnt sure about it as I saw there were people here still scn's but out of the church...and I didnt agree with their pro tech stance.

But then I realized there are a lot of us who just want to put the whole thing in a box to be burned or buried. I also wanted to thank people for helping me while I lurked BY posting their stories and insights .....so here I am.

You may not think you have much to say of value...but folks around here...love any stories of your experiences, any insights, any agreement or disagreements....

So jump in...

I didn't 'lurk', however I should have as I had a lot to learn about posting on forums, instead, I jumped in with two feet and no patience and went a little crazy. Ahem... :confused2: ... but I'm ok now... :coolwink: I think... :whistling:

I would advise anyone to lurk lurk and lurk again, before posting, that way one can get one's head around the insanity of some of the stories they come across and settle down a little before throwing in their tuppence worth. That way too it's easier to deal with any anger and frustration that may come up while diving back into an insane area of life.

Well that's my tuppence worth anyway. And honest... I really am ok now.... :whistling:

Hey I completely understand. I lurked. I got 90 % of the way through signing up, I chicked out.

Twice.

Then I jumped.

But so far I haven't told my story in case I get picked up by Xenu and transported to an implant station.

Oh wait, he's more likely to be on my side now isn't he?

ooh, gotta think about that one....

um, anyhow welcome

Thanks for this posting. You're right, there are a lot of us out there. I feel more comfortable lurking than posting. Don't underestimate the value of the Board to the lurkers though - one can learn a lot without necessarily participating, and one can heal a lot by reading things that others have worked through. So thanks for this. Its good to have this Board here. Iceberg effect: Board = tip, lurkers = rest of iceberg, submerged.

When I first found this message board, I jumped right in and shared my story. At the time I was going through quite a shock and reality adjustment because I found that The Bridge wasn't what I believed it was, and I learned that the Scientology management is criminal. Posting here helped a lot to get my thoughts, feelings, and emotions out of my head and onto the screen where others would understand. I found this to be very helpful.

Since that time I have posted when I feel I have something to offer, other than that I check it every day and keep track of what's happening. You can remain anonymous, just don't write anything that can identify you, that's all. OSA does read this board. They have 3 OSA reps using the "Pitbull" account to cause trouble and distractions here. You can ignore those posts.

We'd love to hear your story, as much as you feel comfortable sharing.

Lurkanon ... Exactly ... I couldn't have put that any better myself !!

Also, there are sometimes justifiable reasons (for some of us) why specifics (ie time/place/form and event) are omitted when we do post .....

For those of you who "lurk" here there is nothing wrong with it.

I for one do not like the word lurk as it is inapt. Look it up in the dictionary.

Thus, there is some negative association with the word lurk as it applies to what people do on boards, and that should not be the case.

People who read but don't post are browsing. They are "window shopping."

Maybe someday they'll come into our fine little establishment and post something. Until then please feel free to look as much as you want.

There, that's my rant.:grouch:
