Just got a call from: 714-283.

wtf?!

What is this partial number crap? They left no message.

I haven't received any scn calls for MONTHS!

I noticed that I got the call RIGHT after being on one of their sites (scientology handbook site, was looking up info for someone). I'm wondering if there isn't a way they track your IP, then are able to get your number that way, somehow?!

Everyone let's use this thread as sort of a directory assistance/caller id thread.

Put your calls/numbers here, so we can all come here and see if we got a call from scn or not.....

714-283-**** is an Orange, California number. Not Orange County org's.

They can't directly get your phone number from your IP address. (Unless you maybe use Earthlink!). But if they have a database of people by name, address, phone number, IP address, compiled some other way, they might use it that way. Seems unlikely to me, though.

For a while, I'd been getting a lot of calls that come back to numbers that look like cell phone numbers AND which DO NOT WORK.

Weird.

If you have ever emailed an org or flag etc...yes they can certainly have your IP address...

I've been getting calls from 727/467-5212 on my cell phone. Usually after 11 PM, when my phone is in silent mode. Does anyone recognize this number as a Flag number? I think I've gotten called from this number about 4 times in as many weeks. And of course, they don't leave a message.

Yes, FSO. Google it.

I'm still trying to figure out how the numbers on my cell phone's caller ID (my home phone doesn't have caller ID but my home phone automatically forwards to my cellphone whenever I turn my cell on, if anyone calls then) end up being fake. How do they do that?

I don't know if they are doing any of those methods, but it is possible to spoof a number on Caller ID.

OSA Int 323-960-3500
AOLA 323-953-3300
ASHO 323-953-3250
INCOMM 323-953-3330
CLO WUS 323-953-3340
HGB Reception 323-960-3550

General rule of thumb -- the phone numbers at the Complex begin with 323-953-3*** and the ones at the HGB and CC Int begin with 323-960-3***. But I think OSA Volunteers and others might now be calling from their cell and/or home phones, trying to avoid being screened out. (Good luck with that. :p)

Thanks, Paul. I'd done a reverse look up but had to pay for more info. The tip worked great and there are even comments from others getting calls from this number.

Maybe it's time to answer my phone and tell them to leave me alone. Especially since they are calling after I'm in bed. But my number is an LA number, so I'm sure they think they are calling LA (never bothered to change my cell number so if friends ever leave they can still reach me). But if it's 11 PM where I am, then it's midnight or later in FL. Don't these people ever sleep. :melodramatic:

And always try to leave a comment of your own. I do every time I get one of these annoying calls!

This is a very good thread...you guys know what we could do? When they call, we should say that we are taking down the number and posting it to critical SP forums on the internet.

And also report to the FTC (for those in the US) https://www.donotcall.gov/
If they try to say they have an existing business relationship, you can point out that they can't have it both ways....business or religion?

That one has already been tried. *sigh*

Do Not Call doesn't pertain to religions and the Fed won't say that regging isn't a part of your religion. About all you have there is that you are no longer practicing that religion. It might work. But...

Any 501(c)(3) is exempt from the DNC lists. Getting the Red Cross to quit calling us every month was more than extremely difficult. The CoS is not alone in that.

The caller ID for ASHO is sometimes 171453 depending on the phone line they use. Sometimes it is 1714283, 1714267, 1714239, 1714277, 1714264, 171428, 171496, 171498, 1714218, or just 1116, 266, 274, 151, 152, 189, and 165. These are actual caller ID numbers that have called me in the last 3 months. I haven't always answered the call, but when they leave a message, it's always from ASHO.

Just those numbers. No spaces or anything else. Wierd. Sometimes the caller ID will put the spaces in for the display, and it will look like 171-453, but on the phone bill that shows who called, it displays it without any spaces or dashes.

They probably have a phone system in the Org that randomly grabs the next available line to use when someone dials a line out of ASHO. There are probably lots of possible numbers that could be used, but the way the phone system generates the caller ID, they all look similar to each other with not enough numbers to be a complete phone number.

Speaking of all the phone calls I get, I get a lot of calls from "Anonymous" and "Restricted". I like when "Anonymous" calls me and it's the CO$. I always find humor in that. I can tell my wife "Hey honey, listen to this, Anonymous just invited us to the next CO$ event. Do you think the invitation is for inside the event or outside the event?".

Keep getting Bridge Publications calls at all hours of the day and night, seven days a week!

Gail: (323) 580-5513 (California number for those who may not know). I actually returned their calls yesterday and told them to remove me, they said after a couple weeks,
I should not receive info (in the mail) anymore. Nor they're calls! Let's see if they do that or not!

A friend of mine who has been out for over 30 years was contacted recently by former colleagues who are still in the cult. Despite being declared, they wanted him to come back and enroll on one of their (expensive) programs.

In fact they even sent him a free set of LRH tape lectures.

In the course of a recent transatlantic phone reg cycle on him, the name of DM came up. "Do you know Mr M" a starry voiced female reg asked. :omg:

"Know him? It was me who recruited the little shit in the first place" was his reply. :duh:

Strangely enough, he has not received any more reg calls since, :confused2:

but did appreciate the gesture of the free lectures.

The Calls

It seems the stats must be way, way down . . . :omg: Oh, surprise, surprise :eyeroll:

A couple of months ago I got a call from a CoS NYC person who left a message on my answer machine saying who was calling.

Now I was declared SP in 1984 or 5 and had moved and gotten a new phone # since then. But it seems and old name is an old name in times of need, and that they were doing an "all hands". Two of my friends who are exes got calls also around that time.
