What's new

I just got home from the event

I went to the May 9th event tonight. I just got home.

I was expecting another Ex to be there. I even had a case of Mexican beer in the trunk of my car, but I didn't see him there. (just kidding about the beer)

I rode to the event with a couple of Scientologists. That was cool. Everyone there wanted to hug me. That was cool too. I saw a lot of my old friends and everyone was really nice. I got caught up on some gossip and found out about a couple of people who have blown or been routed out. (note to self - find these new exes and make sure they know they are not alone)

The event itself was a format I've never seen. It was a stream video without audio. There was a scripted narration done by some local staff. No DM. No Int Execs. No crappy audio. The message was horrible. It made my ears bleed. (almost)

The first part had a thing about the first age of miracles and how stories about how the sick were made well and the lame were healed and the seas were parted and even if the stories weren't true, the fact that people believed they were true civilized the people of earth for the first time or something like that.

Now Dianetics has created the second age of miracles. Then for a couple of hours they told stories of making the sick well and healing the lame and amazing statistics and everyone oooed and ahhhhed and no one even questioned if these stories might not be true but are only being told in order to inspire your faith and ......well, you get the picture.

I went to the event. I survived. It was very different watching this stuff as an outsider. That's about it.

Thanks for taking one for the group. Sounds low budget and kinda delusion driven.....I mean, if they were really producing miracles, why not go grab spme one off the street and give it a go?

WOW GT,

You are the adventurous one.

But is that all there was to it? The old age of miracles and the new?

Was it a long event? or have they got shorter?

Was there a new release to buy?

Do you think this format is much cheaper for int?

Sorry, but I'm trying to grasp what's happening in the cult.

I've got the same questions as Feral - oh my! :eyeroll:

And just on the quiet, I had adrenalin pumpin', as I was reading your post - Crikey, girl, I couldn't go to an event in my town in a fit, but I'm glad you went so we can get the scoop first hand, and I'm proud of ya for it! :D

It did seem sort of low budget. there were boxes of books everywhere, but no really aggressive regging.

They talked in the event about how fantastic the Basics are and ran some video testimonials on the Basics. I assume that was what was in the boxes.

I did get hit up for a library campaign donation. The senior C/S ran interference for me and said "Let's get her recovered first". Another staff member asked me to donate to the IAS. She said that I was one of her favorite prospects and she could always count on me for a nice donation. I told her to come up to present time and we had a good laugh.

They gave everyone who attended a book with a bunch of 3rd dynamic references.

An old friend asked me what I'm up to and I told him I was eating a meatball. Then he asked what I am doing in Scientology and I told him that I am blown.

Dunno. Was kinda boring actually.

Wow you brave one, GT!

Sounds sorta strange to do an Even that way, huh? Why no audio I wonder? Weird! And makes ya wonder where DM at? :giggle: Probably was too out of breath from all his worryin' and beatin' up people n' handlin' all the flaps....so was suckin' on his inhalers er sumthin :p

Question.

Based on info about this event and other events over the last 12 months does it look like david is keeping a very low profile.

I.e. In hiding?

Quite possibly. We could start a speculation thread in the humour section. :coolwink: :D

More interesting is the obvious budget production. In Sydney the had the event at the AOSH, rather than a rented hall or conference room. That indicates very low budget. Last year they had a rented place.

I wonder if Int is running out of money. Those events cost about $500,000 all up. That's the original event that they make the video from. They are a nightmare to raise the money for. Most of it has to be extracted from the PAC orgs in the 3 - 4 weeks prior to the event. If what we hear about PAC income is true, the money wouldn't have been there and DM was probably not game to foot the bill for the whole thing. Maybe he told Gold crew to make a video and then he'll use it as an excuse to drive home the fact that he is the only one who can do anything right and RPF a bunch more people.

Or has David's skin conditon gotten too bad for Gold Make-up to be able to cover?:whistling:

I've been sorting out boxes of stuff that we've never unpacked from our last move and I found IAS mags in there and you can see the guy has a bad skin condition if you know it's there.

And it gets worse as you get closer to PT in the pictures.:omg:

I'd bet that's why he's not in so many pictures these days and why he's not up on stage in front of everyone like he used to.

How ironic - the Dianetics Event and COB can't front because of a "psychosomatic illness" or two :hysterical:

Woow GT, takes some guts to go to such an event in your own org.

And from your report it is clear that as an ex you can't tune in to their ramblings anymore.

In any case, thanks for your update.

Unheard of, in times prior to now, and it's not just about budget!

Sydney used to get about 800 to 1000 at events, and they would 'always' rent the biggest and best venue. AOSH ANZO could and would only hold events at their premises when there was only a couple of hundred expected, for 'smaller' functions. For those functions, they'd have people in the div 6 area on the ground floor, as well as people on the mezzanine level to accomodate them all.

I just told my hubby what I've read on this thread, and he is as shocked as I am.

To me, this is an indicator that Scio activity has shrunk by about 75% in ANZO, in the last year or so. FMD!!! I love it, want it, and thought or hoped it would be so - however, I'm still shocked, and so is Tim!

Hooley dooley, my oh bloody my! :) Sydney Anon, take a win! - and if ya visit, I'll bake you a caek!

Last event I went to in Sydney was the 2007 Dianetics event, held in the Sydney Uni theatre up the road from the AO

I was told there were 700 there that night by a high-placed exec - I could personally see maybe 150 public max, rest being SO or org staff.

So the AO would hold - 400?

Seats for max of 250?

I think you'd be looking at over half the attendees would be out-of-towners from Taiwan or elsewhere come to Sydney for services.

Leaves an absolute max of 50 locals.

Over half of those would be the die-hards who turn up for everything.

Not looking too healthy for the cult is it?

Syd anons have done a great job

GT this is fascinating. Wow I admire your courage going to that event! And then just stating that you had blown . . . you got cahunas! I'll bet that felt kind of good though.

About the no audio -- I wonder if part of it was that they just got tired of their events being leaked onto the Internet and making them look stupid, and figured that DM was not helping their stats . . . .(?). A "no audio" broadcast probably won't spread around the Internet like the last one did.

Yes, there was caek. I didn't eat it. I had the meatballs and cheesesticks.

Wow. Interesting point TL. You are absolutely right this stuff wouldn't translate to Youtube very well. A copy of the script would be "golden" though. Majorly lulzy.

I would like to let ALL of you know. It wasn't that hard! It would be hard to keep going because I see all of my old friends getting into "pounce" position. Truth is some of these folks have been stalking me for over a year and seeing me at the event was a major win for them. My presence created a sort of mini event. :coolwink:

WE really understand them far better than they understand us. It's very easy for me to talk to any one of them and get whatever effect I choose. I am pretty sure each of you with any experience could do the same thing. We KNOW what filters they are looking through. They really don't have a clue.

I do love them. I don't mind them believing what they believe as long as it gives them something positive. I don't want them abused or taken advantage of. For some of them I feel kinda like it would be worse to burst their bubble then to just let them continue thinking they are the saviors of earth. :confused2:

It's complicated.

Wow GT,

I was going to go the event in my city but...one event a year...well,even that is too much for me:D

This place get weirder and weirder! NO SOUND!

You noticed the same thing I did when I went to the last event...the lack of "hard sell" regging. I guess they are reserving this type of regging for the building fund or has their bag of goodies dried up?

Question for you GT: Can you find out when hard regging stopped? Also would be interesting to find out what the 'last' hard reg main reason was for.

Would be an interesting to see what the result was.
