OT Phenomena

Oh, boy. I was reading a few random "OT Phenomena" out of the Advance (AOLA's mag). If this is what OT is all about then.... Yeah.

"Voice-Overs.

"I work in the finance department at an entertainment company on a completely non-artistic related job. The company deals with virtual worlds and interactive websites for kids and families. A while back I postulated doing voice-over work for them, even though no one knew about any talent I might have in the area. Since I was working in the middle of all these artists I thought there is no reason why I couldn't do that. I had never done voice-overs before, although it had always been an area of interest to me. Then I thought no more about it. Recently, I was informed of cutbacks in my department and it looked like I would be leaving the company in a matter of weeks. A few days after learning of this news, I was working at my desk and one of my co-workers rushed into my office and told me to come with her right away. She told me they needed me to record something for a character on the website (not knowing if I had any talent to do it). I had no idea what was happening but agreed to check it out. I was taken into a room where they do on-the-spot recordings. They were trying to get a voice-over of an evil type cackle for one of the characters and were desperate to find the right one. I was directed on what and did it per their specifications in a couple takes. The next morning the director of the department e-mailed me the finished version of the recording they had done of my voice. She said I did a great job and the voice was going to be launched for that specific character in a matter of hours. And sure enough it was! - M.M."

Ok, firstly they never even stated if they lost their job. Secondly, how do we know that this person didn't have have a cackle laugh that someone overheard and then later remembered when a cackle laugh was needed? Third, if you had in interest in doing voice-over work, wouldn't it be easier to talk to someone from that area as opposed to trying to use your magic powers? :confused2:

You can't take this all too serious.

Such things can and do happen. We all have such abilities wether we are aware of them or not. Most people are just in denial about the fact that they are behind something good or bad that happened to them.

I was actually trying to point out how ridiculous it was. That story in no way shows any miracle or anything really special happening. It was coincidence more than anything.
But beyond that the person was counting on a postulate in their head to reach their goal instead of just telling someone, "I have interest in doing voice-over work." It's just plain idiocy.

It certainly is a weak, self-centered, shallow and petty thing to claim as a 'win'.

"Oh look, I made a postulate and it stuck!"

Bah...

People do that everyday. And they don't have to be a card carrying member of any group to do so....

That's what I call OT, he wants the chance of getting on a Mike instead of his normal boring job, other people loose their job and as he's the only one left that can still speak he gets asked for his voice, for no extra pay.

Now either he should feel really guilty because he postulated other people to loose their jobs or he should realise that sometimes things happen, and that that's got nothing to do with his OT levels.

I think lots of thoughts throughout a day, 'wouldnt it be nice if the sun come out of the clouds', sometimes it does. It really wasnt me.

Or maybe he was just desperate for a success story so he could stop hitting his head against the wall.

True. But if that is the case, then god help them when they have to go poo poo's all by themself and remain hygenic.

.........couldn't resist fluff.:)

Oh, that's fine, dollink. I can take a joke. I did notice when I was in CofS that a number of the people seemed well, I don't want to be mean, but perhaps less than competent. I remember noticing that some of my non Scn friends seemed "higher toned", more competent, more with it and I remember thinking this was a sad state of affairs. I guess some people would say Scn dumbs a person down but I always hypothesized that maybe Scn attracts some people who aren't doing so great, if you get my drift.

I definitely agree with Div6 that one doesn't have to do Scn to achieve that "win". I really don't think the world's wisdom can only be found in Scn. And I would guess that this would be something you and I can agree on.

That's a very lame ass OT success story.. Did they have him write a new one because the real one was bad PR?

Hmm.. Was it him that accidently knocked off the top half of someones scull in Walmart, ahh, at 30 yards.. Creating an incredible screamin' panic? - He only meant to knock off his hat of course..

There's also a story about a PC who 'mocked' up an intire starship bridge that replaced the auditing room.. You could see the Horsehead Nebula outside the windows, or was it the Horseshit Nebula? - Shook the auditor's TR's right out of his bejeezus and goosebumps. So he hurriedly left the session to ask the DofP what the hell to do about it.

The DofP screamed bloody murder and 'out tech' at him and ordered him back into session to audit the 'phenomenon' out.. Right NOW, and yer' bloody late already!!

So the auditor ran back something fast I tell you! - He flung the door open and was through that door like a bat outta hell! - And he fell 17 stories into the parking lot below...

See.. The PC had pressed the big red button for hyperspeed and left the solar system altogether! - So the audting room was not THERE!!!

They've since walled the door to cover it up!

*

Uhm.. Don't believe me! - I'm mocking it up like a crashing helicopter pilot!

great story!

Great story there, but if the OT could do that why was he ever in session in the first place?

That OT phenomenon is pretty lame, "I wanted a job and I got one!" er ok...

I used "postulates" to ensure I had a parking space in a crowded area right outside the shop where I worked, my place was there every evening for two whole weeks! Then I began to doubt my own powers, and sure enough the space began to move further from the shop until eventually I could never find a place to park without a 5 minute walk, and I only completed up to GRADE II.

I also made a car turn 45 degrees in mid air during a high speed car crash, and all this on Grade II, Yay!

AND I made it from the 4th floor of CCInt down the stairs and into the car park in less than 8 seconds, during an earthquake.

I'm 54 years old and can still run 45m in under 7.5 seconds

What's a Clear? It's when you realise you never had a reactive mind to begin with. Is that clear? Quite clear?

I had a huge OT win just this afternoon, I was sitting in a room with aromas of food which made me hungry, as soon as I realized I was hungry I turned around and noticed two large metal containers roughly the size of refrigerators with glass faces and buttons of them, they were full of food. I happen to have these pieces of paper with dead presidents on them which were doing nothing in my wallet to ease my hunger, so I decided to use my OT powers to insert these pieces of paper into slots on these large metal containers and press the buttons, all the sudden the food I was thinking about came out of these large metal containers. I was able to consume this food to ease my hunger. My OT powers allowed me to feed myself with paper.

Once OTX is released you'll be able to not only turn paper into food but wipe your ass with the very same paper!

It is not an OT "win" but it is about a postulate.

Few years back we went to a xmas celebrations in a public park with three Scientology couples.

We all went by train.

When it finished, we all went back to the train station to catch the train to go back home. The train arrived every 10 minutes. While we were waiting, one woman said that she hoped the train would arrive on schedule. I told her that it usually did.
The train arrived on time and the woman said to me : you see, I postulated the train to arrive on time and it did!:D She was very serious and truly believed it.

I remember one OT success story in the mag, about a lady always being able to find a pen when she needed one, or some such thing. Another about picking up the phone at the exact same time as when someone else who she wanted to talk to, that by the way, happens occasionally to everyone. Nothing OT about it. It seemed to pop up in the mag every once in a while.
Just about everyone on staff tried to make traffic lights turn green on command. God knows I tried.

Even if someone said "I was able to take my dog for a walk at night without having to get my body out of bed", or "instead of driving into the city us girls just go to the Moon on a Sunday morning for a chat" - I dont think its worth over $500,000.

Holy fuck!!!!!! Oh, Fluff you've got me all teary eyed :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: You are right. We agree.

Fluffy, this is a precious gift. I don't want it spoiled EVER!
Perhaps we can make a Theta agreement with TOTAL ARC,
to refrain from communication in the future - with full knowingness,
lest our reactive banks, on levels we haven't done yet, restimulate and have us griping at each other again.:happydance: :happydance: :happydance:

I've got a funny one.

I was driving in the centre lane on a crowded LA freeway, when the car immediately on my left decided he would move to the spot immediately on my right. I swerved between two cars in the right lane and onto the shoulder just ahead of the car that was trying to pass through my car. The punch line. All three passengers immediately took credit for having avoided the accident. They were all OT and that was the reason we hadn't been hit. Not one peep about the non OT driver, lol.
