Anyone who is familar with the jargon and acronyms of the military and senior levels of U.S. government might enjoy reading the report of Col. Buck Owen, Commander, Joint Operations Air Component - Haiti. Link below. It is a good illustration of the U.S. military on a humanitarian mission.

It makes me feel "off" that some would try to ride on the PR wave of relief like that.

One thing he does not mention is the massive USA ability to air drop supplies.
It seems that the only supplies that arrived from the USA were the ones that could be landed and offloaded on the ground.
Not the best use of actual resources?
Or a problem sending those type of aircraft to that location?
