It appears that Tom Cruise is exercising his right to remain silent at this time and has said little or nothing about this religion. He has been put on "notice" of Miscavige's abuses and it is my guess that, although he has publicly stated he doesn't believe the accusations, he is at a minimum putting some distance between him and Miscavige.
I think there is an substantial body of circumstantial evidence that Cruise is aware that most of the allegations about Miscavige are true. My belief is that he remains loyal for the same reason most stay in or silent-fear of blackmail. Just my opinion.
I had a boss several years ago that used to preach "do the things that keep you out of trouble and avoid the things that get you into trouble". It was very good advise and I didn't have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for it. It seems like Cruise has adopted this pattern of behavior for the time being. At least he got a generous gift from the US government in the nature of a tax deduction to hear that same advice from a high school dropout.
I hope you are right, skydog, but I wonder. TC fired his very long time non-scn'ist (XmanagerX) (correction) - publicist, the one who (X launched and X) (correction) maintained his career from 1992 on, a number of years ago, and replaced her with his scn'ist sister (I think that is what I read). His mother is a scn'ist too - as are all of his employees. He and Katey both have scn keepers. Both their best friends are scn'ists, TC's being DM. Everyone in their sphere is scn'ist.
I think he doesn't read anything outside of scripts, and true to form, he turns off at hearing any criticism at all of scn. He starts yammering non-stop, like Tommy Davis. TC has become a DM clone - those two guys LOVE each other, and feed each others egos - they compete with each other (who do you think wins? - this competition tells me sooo mcuh about both of them).
TC is THE ELITE of the CELEBRITY PUBLIC scn'ists. His ass is wiped with gold tissue paper, and licked by ALL scn'ists (DM too? or visa versa?)
Oh, and TC is not very bright. Neither is DM, but that one truly is diabolical.
BOTH have LOADS of money. They can BUY anything they want.
Did the couch jumping & leaked scn video change the publics image of him? Perhaps a bit - but I have to tell you, I mentioned once to a friend of mine that I did not like TC, and she - just flabergasted and in disbelief - wanted to know why. So I told her much of this - and she thought I was out of my mind, to dislike him for 'that'.
I changed my mind about her too - LOL.
I stopped watching his movies when he divorced nicole, looked for a 'scn' approved wife, went bonkers, made katey sign a contract, and then put her on some rundown, drinking oil, sweating, running (??) - to get her back in line. Ick, is all I can say. Ick.
TC is working on a new movie, #4 in the Ethan Hunt, Mission Impossible series. I think he shut up about scn, not because he is pulling away, but because all his bizarre antics hurt his career (read Andrew Morton's uauthorized Bio, as one poster suggested - he pissed off alot of Hollywood with his insistance on bringing scn into the productions of his films). He is just as bonkers on it, I think, just being savvy about it. Unfortunately. I WISH he was pulling away, but I also wished he hadn't divorced nic, or gone bonkers over coco puff scn.
The man is an idiot. The scn video that leaked tells me loads about him. Just watch his body language. The whole thing is an embarrassment.
Not that he is a bad dude - I don't think that. I just think he doesn't want to hear about the abuses/con, and even if he allowed any of the truth to get between his ears, he wouldn't believe it anymore than any other committed scn'ists. And because he is not subjuect to the abuses, he will never 'get it' on his own. The Co$ will have to collapse around his ears - I think.
I doubt DM has ever threatened TC in any way - with blackmail. Yet.

I find myself all the time wanting to send TC the books that have come out, BFG, The Complex, Billion Year Contract, etc - but I know he'd never get them. Even if he did, he'd not read them. He'd turn them in to DM - LOL.
The man lives in a bubble. He can't see outside of it. And DM is his only friend.
But he sure got a lot of the general public looking at scn cross-wise - LOL. Thank you TC. I kind of wish he was still out there with it, you know, just for that. LOL.
