My life as a Scientologist

In writing my submission to the inquiry, I have come to the poignant conclusion that being a Scientologist is like "forty miles of bad road".

I'm very interested in your conclusions.

My conclusion

In writing my submission to the inquiry, I have come to the poignant conclusion that being a Scientologist is like "fourty miles of bad road".

I'm very interested in your conclusions.

I conclude that your spelling can use some help. IT is forty, not fourty.

And more...

I pretty much see it the same way - it was certainly a long, bad road and I believe the key to getting "out" is awakening to the obvious fact that the road (i.e., "bridge") leads nowhere. Certainly not anywhere resembling what is advertised, promoted, promised or mocked-up by the traveller. :duh:

The mental gymnastics a traveller goes through to justify all that time, effort, sacrifice and grief is also worthy of some attention, too. I did a bunch of stuff (services, auditing, dononations, etc) without telling any of my family and/or friends - in jargon "on a withold" Then from time to time told myself that the reason I was not experiencing stellar "wins" and becoming more "OT" was because I was doing all this stuff "on a withold". :melodramatic:

It seems to be true that a person will go to extremes to make "self right" and Scientology makes insidious and effective use of that mechanism to keep the mindfuck going - at least that's my observation and experience. :confused2:

Good and thought-provoking post, Doom.

Happy trails to you all! (yes, to ALL!)

Good picture, scary, but good!!!

You know baby, I would happily travel forty miles of bad road with you - now that Scn is not part of our lives,
and I reckon the world is so much a better place without it - I know that for us, even though it's a bit rough starting over, our lives have never been better.

We certainly know our living nightmare is a year behind us and o v e r. xx

Its almost like the further you go down that road the further you have to come back.
but sometimes I see that help from others that have travelled that road is just what is needed to get you back on to those better roads.
It also helps to have a good companion.

Yep, it's like a circular Obstacle Course, you always end up back at the start.
Some people just keep going and do it all again, some people wake up and head for the hills.
And, yes, you're blessed with a good companion. :)

That she is and so much more mate.
There is nothing like having a great navigator or good friends.

Doom's 40 miles of bad road

40 miles of bad road is a good analogy. (And a good name for a song.) If it helps, the longer you're away from it, the easier it gets. The downside is, of course, the longer you're away from it, the older you get too. Be good to yourself, things do get better.

Thanks Petey C,
You are right it would be a good name for a song. I first heard it in a description of James Cameron's movie Aliens, Ironic no?

As I get older I get at least a bit wiser and I'm happy with that trade.

Yes things do get better and one year out and we are better than ever.

Think of it this way -- at one year out, you're just at the beginning of the good times! And you ain't even old so don't even start with that. I reckon that up to your mid-40s, you can have a whole new career about every 7-10 years. So let your imagination run wild and enjoy what's out there!

(Best done before age 25 - but nor so bad by moonlight in later years) :whistling:

It isn't all doom and gloom, Doom.

The longer you are out, the more it fades.

Life IS good, and it is waiting for you
