I've seen it twice, awesome movie, LOVED the CAT! (and Johnny Depp).

The 2nd time, we went to see it in 3D 'cuz all the hoopla over it.

Well, I couldn't figure out for the life of me what the big deal of it was, the movie looked the same as 2D for me!

Well :duh: I'm BLIND! (no, seriously, in one eye and severe nearsight in good eye).

Soooo, I have no depth perception!! :giggle: :eyeroll:

But my husband enjoyed it, he felt a bit sad for me, tho.

Wonderful, wonderful movie. As usual Johnny Depp went well beyond what most actors would do. In an interview he said he approached the character as he would any character in the script. He thought about the Hatter as a person, what shaped him, what made him become Hatter, how the traumas of the civil war effected him and what he was really like as a person.

He didn't go, Mad Hatter, funny costume, jump around, he actually did a profile of him as a person.

He does that with all his characters; he apparently made up an entire back history of Captain Jack and designed all Jack's tattoos himself as meaningful events and people out of Jack's past.

That is why Johnny is an well-respected actor as well as a star, and Tom Cruise is a grinning face in a movie.

I enjoyed the movie. I almost always like Tim Burton and I almost always like Johnny Depp. The special effects were excellent.

*However*, I hated what they did with the story line. It violated the spirit of the book to the point of alienation.

As a stand alone though, the movie was good.

Same here. I have most all the Burton/Depp movies.

One of my fave JD movies is Ninth Gate...it's one of yours too, right? (it's not a Burton movie, tho)

Yeah, I watch 9th Gate once or twice a year. :) One of these days I'm going to dig up the book it's based on. It's a Polanski film, and, I almost always love Polanski.

If you liked 'Nightmare Before Christmas' you might also like "Coraline".

Not a Burton movie, but, done very similarly from a Neil Gaiman book.
