Experiencing pain and suffering ourselves and then witnessing it in others is what inculcates compassion in us. Unschooled toddlers feel empathy (we're hardwired for it as a survival skill= eg. sympathy crying, etc.) but must be taught compassion. Compassion is learned behavior, that is the task that the Bodhisattvas take on, in my opinion...teaching and leading by example, so that others can gain more self-awareness, insight and wisdom, and thus learn to have more compassion for others, in a kind of pass it on type of growth spiral. That experiencing life in an embodied form will involve suffering of many types is a given, part of the territory. What are the uses of adversity? :)

P.S. Ron does NOT qualify as Maitreya to me!

Nice piece of work Sweetness! I like the word inculcates, that is very fitting. Leading by example usually contains doingness in it, teaching seems to always involve some doingness, even if it is doing nothing as in meditating.

Mother Teresa is an interesting example. She combines empathy, compassion and doingness. She does tangible deeds such as nursing and consoling spititually those she is working with directly. For others far from her physical area, she leads by example, i.e. if one sees videos of what she is doing and/or gains a general impression of what she does through the news media.

Martin Luther King is another example who led by example. Most of his work contained not much doingness, just walking in the front of Peace Marches which he had initiated or giving speeches such as the inspiring, "I have a dream" speech. I guess one could say in Leon's parlance, he sounded his tuning fork with his speech, "I Have a Dream." Ever since he sounded it with his powerful words, it has kept vibrating in greater and larger volumes of waves.

Here's a thought. He could have recited his "I Have a Dream Speech" to a few of his associates in a small room with no microphone or video camera present and the message would have probably spread by word of mouth but it is unlikely that the message would have permeated society to the extent it has now achieved. THIS BRINGS UP THE CONCEPT OF HOW ONE SOUNDS HIS/HER TUNING FORK AND WITH HOW MUCH FORCE IT IS SOUNDED. It seems that public relations are involved in the speed and force in which a tuning fork is sounded to cause change.

On you second post, Sweetness, you make a good point as well. The idea that many have that by just praying to their God, they are inacting compassion and achieving good results, to me seems quite flawed. They have their hearts in the right place but they do not sound their own tuning fork but instead ask their deity to sound His. What good does it do to ask another entity to sound a tuning fork for you and then walk away, hoping or having faith that your diety will respond to your pleas? This is really operating deeply at effect. It is using a via to accomplsih something. Seems to me that it is better than having no empathy and no compassion whatsoever but falls far short of being the appropriate response.

Adios Apollo Part 3

Missions were fired off to locate a suitable “Flag Land Base” and the Apollo was sailed to Freeport, The Bahamas the “Staging Area” for the move to land. A Management Team was sent to NYC to run the Orgs and the remainder of the Crew packed up the ship, loading the tons and tons of paper files, documents and bric-a-brac into containers set up dockside to the Ship. El Ron, the Family and entourage, the tech delivery unit, FCCI’s and outer Org students went to Daytona Beach, Florida and the rest, as they say, is History and has been well documented on the Net by others.

From the time we sailed to Freeport to the when we arrived in Clearwater I was involved in a number of El Ron Missions, which I will not detail here at this time, that gave me insight into what was going on here and there throughout the “evolution”—it also loaded my Ethics Files with a number of El Ron personal VWD’s and Very Highly Commended’s that saved my skin a few times over the next few years.

For a time it looked like the FLB would be a resort property near Savannah, Georgia but, in the end, Clearwater wound up being the place and the whole “United Churches” front was concocted. Anyone with half a brain knew that it was going to blow up eventually but the idea was to get in, set up and when the inevitable happened it would be already too late for the “SP’s” to try and stop us.

The Crew was euphoric with the move to land. Better food, better berthing (albeit stark by most standards, unless compared to the Apollo), better quality of life. There was a pervading “hope” that we were on our way to having a more “normal”, decent life…that we had “dug the ditches” and fought our way out of the trenches. In short, we had “arrived” and, someday, we would be a group of “substance”, not wealthy individually but comfortable, classy and mutually self respecting….we would have families, we would build a “New Civilization”, we would not spend the rest of our lives at war and in battle conditions, we would move up the bridge, we would “get it right this time”. All this would not come to pass.

The Crew did not know that “Snow White” was, at that very moment, creating the conditions for Acid Rain and, more importantly, that El Ron was “losing ‘It’” and the CMO was “becoming ‘It’”. Some of us in the “inner circle” saw “It” coming but, as always, we clung to the thought that “in the end, everything would turn out alright”. How could it not? We had “The Tech” and our only problem was that we were “building a world with broken straws”. We just had to keep going as “the point that you are about give up is the point that you are about to win”.

As far as I am concerned, the move to land was for 3 primary reasons.

1. El Ron’s Security and Safety
2. Money
3. El Ron wanted to “stick it in Hollywood’s ear”

Number 1 was the big driver for Mary Sue. The hospitalization in Curacao left Hisself in a very vulnerable position. Poor medical care, non Scn Doctors, stuck in a fixed position that could not be completely controlled by Hisself.

Number 2 was El Ron’s big driver. People would pay big bucks for “Flag Only” and “Flag Quality” services, and most of it would go to SO Reserves and LRH Personal Accounts as Royalties and Fees.

Number 3 was driven by the money. El Ron’s “state of mind” was, more and more, “I am the greatest, most brilliant Writer, Producer, Director in the Universe” and the money allowed Hisself to build his “Dream Castle” and move into it. And, the CMO were the enablers and willing pawns for Hisself’s delusion driven gambit.

When I was growing up I shared a bedroom with my older brother who was going to college. He had a job and when he got home at night he would throw the change in his pocket into a wooden box on his dresser. It was a large box and over time there was a substantial pile of change in the box. There were some “rich kids” I went to school with that I wanted to impress. I did not have nice cloths…mostly hand-me-downs from my brothers and cousins. I started to pilfer the change from my brother’s change box and spend it after school with these kids…buying hamburgers and malts for them, stuff like that. I was suddenly their big “buddy” and I became “drunk” with being cool…I also became sick at heart and tortured at night. I came to a point where I detested myself so much I stopped stealing my brother’s money, replaced what I thought was what I had spent (from doing yard work for neighbors) and never stole again. I never confessed what I had done until years later…my brother laughed and said he was glad that he was the vehicle for my having looked into my own heart stopped flinching. He passed away a few years ago and I was with him…he was a beautiful man.

I guess that’s what saddens me most about this era, Adios Apollo, about my time with El Ron. It was an opportunity…we, the Crew, were so willing, ready, able and El Ron did as hisself always did…flinched. El Ron spent the rest of Hisself’s life pilfering from the change box to be cool in front of the other kids.

Face:)

Face, even though you posted amid posts concerning Vinaire's and Roger's disagreement and the 4th of July party held in L.A. which caused your post to share the limelight with Carmelo's dog, your post did not go unnoticed, far from it!

By the way, that dog is a large being, he seemed to be palsy-walsy with the hosts dog as well, in fact, I saw him trying to enforce some second dynamic intentions onto the other dog! He is a very active dog and being a pug nosed dog, when he gets excited, you can hear a rasp in his breathing, which is sort of cute. The dog feels he is in the limelight and is one of the bigger and more important beings taking part in the festivities. I really do not think that he is much aware that he is a different species, biologically, than the dozens of humans in attendance.

Getting back to the Apollo, I always wondered how it was put to bed and I am glad to get the details of how that was done. Was all of this activity carried out in 1975?

Hubbard's opinioin of himself seemed to be quite inflated. There is no question that he was a dynamic and brilliant man and his talents were multi faceted. He may well have been a genius but it is difficult to decided where his greatest genius lied. (Perhaps his genius lied in lying - just a joke.)

Certainly it did not lie in music, where his talents seem quite limited, nor in movie making, producing and directing where his products seem quite amateurish when compared to real experts in those fields.

As a writer he deserves more consideration. I have read a lot of his fiction works and books of the 30's and 40's and he was a professional grade writer. One book in particular, "Fear" seems to stand out. In the Science Fiction arena, his works seem to be on a par with top Sci Fi writers such as Heinlein, Azimov, Ray Bradbury and others of his generation. These types of writings are "professional quality" sometimes bordering on greatness but they are not really classics or great literature. Each of these Sci Fi greats has one or two works which come close to being considered classics.

The last two works which he did in the 1980's, Battlefield Earth and his Decology of books, did not ensure his position in sci fi writing. I thought Battlefield Earth was a very good book. Though 1000 pages long, there were many instances when I was hooked and could not put it down. The terrible movie adaptation of the book seems to have ruined the Book's reputation. In all the horrible movie reviews, it is implied that the book is nothing special, which is really unfair to the book.

The book was quite good and with a top quality screen play could have been made into a fine movie. Nevertheless, the ne plus ultra, of Sci Fi stories to me was the original "Star Wars" release and all the fine sequels and prequels which resulted from it. The Decology was poor sci-fi. It was meant to be a satire of 1980's culture in the USA. As one reviewer wrote, all the characters were charicatures, almost cartoon figures. He claimed that the book lacked character development and that is certainly true. The characters were either "good" or "bad". It was like the 1930's cowboy movies, the guys in the good hats and the guys in the black hats. Very simple stories of the bad guys gaining advantages over the good guys and then the good buys fighting back and eventually prevailing. Yawn...zzzzz.

I don't think there was any character development because LRH did not think highly of human beings and the cultures they have established on Earth. He was not into looking deeply into a villain's psyche to see why the villain was motivated as he was. This coincides with Hubbard's Dianetic concepts where the pysche is just a collection of mental image pictures of incidents containing pain and unconsciousness. How can you get great character development, say of someone like Captain Ahab in Moby Dick, when you believe the Captian is just a normal flawed human being who is stuck in a secondary engram? You can't develop characters from this point of view and Hubbard made no real effort at charcter development in his later novels. In "Fear", written about 1938, there was lots of deep charcter development.

Photographer - He was a professional level photographer, on a par with other competent photographers but did nothing great in photography.

It all boils down to his ability then as an executive, a public speaker and a religionist, i.e. the founder of a 20th century religion. This post is alredy long winded and we have the entire ESMB board and other Sources investigating LRH's abilities in these areas so I am going to end it right here.

Face,

Your posts have such a profound effect upon my psyche. At the annual 4th of July party in LA, I found myself saying "LRH was an asshole" to a number of people. In the 60s and 70s, when I was in the Co$, I had heard of LRH getting rid of Jack Horner, Rocky Stump, etc I had known a young (7 years old) girl, Valerie Schomer, who had bounced on my lap being locked in the chain locker. I personally and unequivocally KNEW I didn't want to go to the Flag ship or be anywhere near Ron. I liked the Rn I heard on tapes. The real guy, I already knew from friends stories, was a real asshole. Your postings have really put the pieces in correct prioritized order for me.

I audit people on a daily basis. I now, more than ever, know the importance of my own integrity and knowingness over the printed word.

thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I would disagree. Depends on the case level (awareness) of the praying being.

Consider the communication formula. In order to be in communication there must be some sharing of affinity. An effective prayer places being and deity in the same space even if only in part.

That which is perceived to emanate from Cause will appear at Effect if for no other reason than the mechanics of communication. If the deity is perceived as wrathful, wrath appears at Effect. If what is perceived to be compassion and forgiveness appears at Cause, forgiveness and compassion appear at Effect. And so on.

Consider creative processing (mockup processing).

How do you, should you, would you perceive Jesus? Mock him up standing in the room. Send him some "Hello's" and "Okays" to establish communication.

Then you can converse, ask questions, have him jump up and down, or he request or require the same of you. No limitations.

I suspect that creative processing fell out of use because it works so damn fast. That's not good for the GI.

Prayer? That's just Solo Creative Processing.

Where to earn your next buck? More creative processing through the physical universe.

How and where to steal a buck? More creative processing.

Brainstorming? That's group creative processing.

The next time you see someone praying see if you can guess at who or what they are praying to and the effectiveness of the process.

For some decades, I've had the "five year/five album rule," meaning that once a band starts to make it, within five years or five albums, they'll lose it.

They lose it because of taking their fans too seriously, from cutting themselves off from the world (because of their fans' overactive fannishness), from not being able to really get out and experience what inspired them in the first place, from too much touring and the wear upon the psyche, never really being able to experience a new place they go because they're only there for a day or two.

Authors tend to suffer less from this, generally, as they are less often recognized or harassed.

It hadn't really occurred to me that LRH suffered from the same plight, but it's evident from Facey's account that he did, eventually, and just folded up inward.

Well now Face, I think you have just sung the song of the harmony of the Universes with your little line above (in purple)... to wit: "Methinks all Living is a collaboration."

Sure as hell beats opponency, conflict and destruction.

Imagine what would occur if all truly collaborated.

Go to the head of the troops Mr. Face!

Everything was done re: the move off the Apollo by the end of ’75.

From my personal reading I rate Heinlein, Azimov, Ray Bradbury and some others of Hisself’s generation as superior…but hey, Zemu and all the other shit sold pretty damn well now, didn’t it? One of my very favorite Heinlein’s was not a big seller, “Job, A Comedy of Justice”.

Agreed. Hubbard was a "second rater" as a sci-fi writer. His talent lay in his ability to engage his readership in a narrative storyline. He did this without challenging their abilities. This talent for communicating carried over to his spoken scientology lectures and written materials. His creative writing wasn't very original, nor did he have a gift for exploring the implications of the ideas with which he dealt in fiction. His story prose often reads like a screenplay for one of the old Flash Gordon serials.

His non-fiction writing was to my mind generally much better from the viewpoint of style (leaving aside questions of content). He was much more naturally expressive when not attempting to write fictional narratives. But he still most definitely was not "world class" as a writer.

His reputation as a writer stems mostly from this ease at communicating ideas to the reading audience of his time. He was quite good at that. However, the quality of the thoughts he sought to communicate were at best inconsistent.

My two favorite El Ron Sci Fi novels were, “Final Blackout” and “Typewriter in the Sky”…I think El Ron saw Hisself, in some ways, as the Hero of both those books.:coolwink:

I think the best thing he wrote was "Ol' Doc Methuselah". They are cute stories if not especially imaginative and written with his customary ease of style.

I don’t think we are all “One” but, together all of us make a whole. All of us are separate but connected, Living in this “Sea” of Life. “Theetie Wheetie” maybe, but that’s how I see “it”, how I experience “it”.

When I was in the SO we were in the business of selling folks the way to “get out of the trap”. Many were paying big bucks and working feverishly to be one of the first ones “out”. El Ron was “leading the way” and “blazing the trail”.

It occurred to me one day that no one could truly be “out” until everyone else was out. Silly, maybe, but that was real to me and that concept began to gnaw at me. Everyone and everything in such a rush to get “out”…using each other, El Ron included, as stepping stones. Over time, I began to doubt that Scn was the way out, that if I used others as stepping stones I might eventually run out of stones and be lost. And, later, I realized that if I used anyone as a stepping stone I was, at that very moment, lost.

I’m still trying to find my way…walking an uncertain, sometimes agonizing, always wondrous path. Others…like all yall…are the lamp lights, signposts and comforting breezes that ushers me forward, always forward.

No one knows, but that maybe, in the “end”, this Universe is nothing but a "creative process" we are running on each and every one of us. Maybe that’s compassion…I don’t really know, but that’s how I feel and much of the time it confuses me so, comforts me so.

to a person, just leaving the Co$, it is a really big reality break to even hear disparaging things about LRH.

in order to be a sucker for so long inside the Co$, there has to be a lot of faith in Ron.

The party just felt so free, I didn't edit my comments based on who I was talking with.

I told Blue Spirit to go fuck himself three or four times. I couldn't handle the petty morality box that he wanted to impose on my associate.

My associate was unaffected by Blue Spirit's comments. He has been to Aida and Dave's many times, and knows the lay of the land. He enjoyed everyone's hospitality, and the sharing of their food. He played and was entertained by the canine member of the household for the nearly 12 hours that we were there...

Did your associate try to bite him or his wife? OR hump thier legs??? I KNOW who it is!!! :D

I was going to answer Face with "Ole Doc Methusala"

I think the best thing he wrote was "Ol' Doc Methuselah". They are cute stories if not especially imaginative and written with his customary ease of style.

I was going to mention "Ol Doc Methuselah" myself but you beat me to it. If was lively and fast passed and had a bit of humor in it. I only read two or three of the series. I remember Ol Doc was a soldier of Light designed to handle this sector of the Galaxy and that there were 76 such beings in the entire galaxy. I dubbed in that LRH must be a Soldier of Light himself and that maybe 75 other such Soldiers of Light existed in distant parts of our galaxy. I figured LRH must be the smartest because the others failed to disccover and resolve the "wall of fire". I actually believed all this stuff. Hubbard had me hooked, hook, line and sinker. I was 110% on board with the program, a complete robot to LRH. I look back and can't believe how naive and gullible I was!

Mark, have you read LRH's novel, "Fear"? It is different and a couple of cuts above his other novels. Stephen King recommends it highly on its jacket. I bought it in the late 90's from a bookstore featuring it along with the Stephen King quote.

This was pretty common in the circles I moved in. We all thought that what prevented many beings from ending cycle on the MEST universe was that we had to get our families and friends out as well and really every other being who wanted out as well. It one applied the conditions formulas or the conditions by dynamics or even exchange by dynamics, it kept boiling down to a realization that it was not ethical to just free oneself but one had to work at it until all who wanted out were free.

Judging from some of the replies which you have been getting from some of our top posters, you have been one of those lamp lights, perhaps fireflies would be a more apporpriate term, in fact you have been one of the most influential of the lot of us.

I like this Facey, it may be true for all of us, once we have enough self-awareness! :happydance:

Thank you Lakey, for the ack! Now you are a film star, too! What a great new experience to be interviewed for history!

Terril, you are Welcome! Isn't harmony cool? It's what in acting is called "chemistry" between players. I think it is a strong, healing soul force in the Universe...transcending time and space.

Here's a question for everyone: Is just sitting and thinking, praying, meditating, etc. doing NOTHING??? Ted seems to think not, and I think not...what say you all?

What does Spiritual Action look like, anyway? :D Surely you can see and experience the effects of it in the physical world, but what of the Cause? :D

Go ahead Carmello, call me metaphysical, I'll own it! :p
